Part me wants to watch this movie when it comes out (most likely the part that wants to make sure i stay a DC fan)

But at least three things from the last movie, JL: War, are still dogging me:

1. How unlikable Hal Jordan, Superman and Captain Marvel were to me (I just can't understand why people think it's good that they were made this way)

2. How unsatisfying the ending was

and

3. The Superman/Wonder Woman romance: yeah, yeah, i know, this was in the comics at some point. But i still find the idea to be a bit... unsettling. Maybe it was because i've fallen into the camp that favors Batman with Wonder Woman, or could just be that i believe this development to be unfair to both Lois Lane and Steve Trevor. Either way, i'm not sure if i'm onboard with this

In my opinion the Lois Lane and Steve Trevor Romances weren't that great anyway.

The only thing really going for Superman / Wonder Woman is the fact that they both have superpowers.

Also Superman and Wonder Woman don't have to save their love interest all the time and can actually be truthful to one another.

Stranger things have happened. Batman/Wonder Woman was really just about how Batgod is so super special awesome that even the princess of the Amazons falls for him.

As long as it doesn't turn into a Romantic Plot Tumor Superman can date Beppo the Supermonkey for all I care.

Yeah. If Wonder Woman dates any super-hero, it should be Captain America. tongue

Is this and War the same canon ? Just curious how they plan to introduce Aquaman... Unless they have Shazam as King of Atlantis grin

I really hope they make Aquaman and Mera appear more likable than they made most of the League in the last film, especially Green Lantern. The two scenes that keep me from even considering him a likable guy are the ones where he said that he and Batman were nothing alike (the way he said it, it implies that he thought that he was the better man of the two, which he clearly wasn't) and that the League's team-up was a one time deal (implying that he believed himself to be the only hero Earth needed).

All of that makes me far from being considered a hero in my eyes, not even a flawed one, he was just an unlikable jerk.

I believe from what we've seen of Aquaman he seems decent. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire team matured somewhat, especially since Nathan Fillion is voicing GL now. I cannot imagine Nathan Fillion voicing a jerkass GL.

I've read both the arcs that the two animations are based on now and, the slightly odd Shazam/Aquaman swap aside, War was a pretty faithful adaption.

By Atlantis, the JLA have been teaming a while and they get along... well, Green Lantern and Batman butt heads on everything, but it's just two headstrong people who are used to leading.

That's good because the more jerkassy Superman, Green Lantern, and Shazam were the worst parts of that film IMO.

Apparently in that Arc the League pretty much doubled in size. I hope there's some kind of reference to that.

I mean Black Canary, Green Arrow, Black Lightning, Hawkman, Vixen, Zatanna, Firestorm, Element Woman, and Atom all join apparently. Having some of the most awesome B-List heroes in DC show up would be pretty damn cool.

Oh and that Goldrush person :P

In the collection I read, they were thinking of expanding (but wary after what happened with Martian Manhunter) but they didn't actually expand, unless it happened an epilogue that wasn't included.

The one thing Green Lantern and Batman managed to agree on was that Green Arrow was NOT joining. Hal's reasons including "Green is already taken" and "We already have one guy who can't do anything".

Huh strange the wiki said all those people joined. I want Martian Manhunter to be in there he's almost always been a lynchpin member. What happened anyway?

That's pretty strange because Green Arrow is far from useless.

Baring in mind the I only read the trades, they seem to be against Green Arrow cos he's a) pushing a social agenda and b) he's cocky. In addition to that, so are they. They're the World-Beater type of team and Ollie is a guy with fancy arrows.

As for Martian Manhunter, I think it was a mystery (At the time anyway). They're a little freaked out that he knows all their I Ds and there's a double page spread of Martian Manhunter fighting the League by himself but they didn't add any context, just that they met and it was bad so they're gun-shy about letting anyone else in.

Meta-wise, DC's current management has had a real bad thing against J'onn being in the League for quite a while.

Why? J'onn is probably the most versatile member. He's the heart of the team. A League without J'onn just isn't the same.

Current DCU and Heart are incompatible concepts most of the time.

(sigh) There are ways to give characters flaws and make them relatable without turning them into complete asshats.

I do sincerely hope characters like J'onn, Zatanna, Black Canary, and the like will be given screentime in future animated movies.

About a year before the aformentioned strip where the League decide against letting J'onn in, the Manhunter made a few cameos in various comics (already familiar with various DC heroes) and wiped himself from their minds.
