I think the whole thing is just such bitter irony, that they recruit these people as Investigators to fight their war for them. And then when they die, there's a fancy Western-style funeral and the V agents cart the body off to feed their masters.

So these people indoctrinated into obsessively hating ghouls, and devoting their lives to killing ghouls, just end up being eaten by them no matter how they die. It's almost laughable. Kureo Mado got eaten by the Washuus, while Amon and Akira were visiting an empty grave.

Actually if I recall correctly it was heavily implied that the Washuus were also feeding the surviving investigators human meat too (Urie made a comment on the meat tasting odd). That combined with this new revelation makes the irony of CCG's existence even worse

That was a personal meal of the Washuus with Urie eating with Matsuri and his beard.

They could of still been feeding the surviving investigators human meat but just made better efforts to hide any unusual tastes? That might poke an whole in my little theory

Their We Have Reserves tactics suddenly make a lot more sense. Of course they would encourage this — more food for them. They send their troops into the meatgrinder figuratively and literally. Okay, maybe not literally — the Washuu being upper class jerks might prefer their human flesh in prime cuts as opposed to ground meat. With every Thursday being "Rib Night".

Not really. The only time a funny taste is ever noticed is when dealing with their food.

All that meat goes to feed all the purebred ghoul women they breed and Ghouls like Yoshimura that worked for them.

Why would they waste a single scrap of human flesh on their human troops? They are going to keep as much of it for themselves as possible since, being ghouls, they can't eat anything else except coffee.

I dunno, pettiness perhaps?

By the way, this seems like a good moment to bring up the fact that Matsuri is bad even by Washuu standards and seems to be getting away scot free.

Yeah, Matsuri was a huge asshole in terms of his willingness to throw away lives. But I think for the moment, I think he's paid some in terms of having lost his entire family to V's betrayal. And the fact he's a gay man that's been heavily bound into the gross Washuu traditions also kind of defies that, in that he's very much someone that wants to break away from them.

But he acknowledged to Urie that he knows shit is coming, and he's got to earn as much good faith with the alliance as possible if he wants to survive.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he's so dickish because he's stuck in a system he has resigned himself to and had no forseeable way out.

So he took any excuse he could to not be involved with his wife, who is like 99% of being another ghoul woman bred for Washuu breeding and likewise loathes the marriage.

Something that's been bothering me for a while now...just how much of Kanou's inhumane atrocities was Kimi complicit in? At the very least, she was with him on Rue Island with the zombie investigator experiments (which were the result of desecrating Shirazu's corpse), and possibly worked with him on the Oggai. But when did she first start working with/for him?

Pretty sure since before Re considering Nishio was hunting Aogiri, likely under the belief they took her.

Also, is Gomasa Tokage just gonna...get away with everything?

2nd season of :Re anime announced.

Three chapters left: Sic transit Furuta. Took him long enough to bite it. Anyway, what are the odds that everything will go horribly, horribly wrong in the final chapters.

I'm expecting a Kaneki Heroic Sacrifice and then a time skip.

Wait what do you mean 3 chapters left?

The chapter opens up with an announcement that the manga is ending in 3 chapters.

Oh fuck that's sad.

Its finally ending.

(quietly sips coffee while the fandom panics)

I have decided I'm going to wait until the series concludes, before I decide whether I'm freaked out not. It feels very sudden, but with any luck we will at least have an epilogue that shows us a little of how things have turned out post-Dragon.

You know irrespective of the fact the series 'probably' ends in 3 chapters, this chapter just by itself was great. Beautiful send off to Furuta. Beautiful speech by Kaneki. Despite the fact I don't feel the same amazingly written character development and dynamics I felt earlier in the series, like Kaneki I can't think of it as all for naught.

Thank you Ishida for Les Enfants Terribles, Furuta, Eto, and Arima.

(Now watch this post be irrelevant in 3 weeks when the series is slated for continuation. I just jinxed it didn't I?)
