It'd be kind of funny if after all of this Elaine just dies to a sneak/stray attack.
I think she's being kept alive for now because she's Lancelot's mother. Having her bear a son and then choose to pass on seems like a typical thing to do.
I wouldn't say she was an ordinary snake even before this. She lived for three hundred years before the miasma made her into a demon.

As for the fight: I'm not sure he's reading to have Escanor lose a fight, but I'm also fairly confident this is going to end with Elizabeth pacifying Meliodas rather than Escanor just beating him unconscious so...
Though, the Perfect Cube might get destroyed just for hype. Apparently it's going to be an extra long chapter or two chapters or something so it'll take a bit.

Hmmm.
Not totally convinced it's done yet. Whatever the case, Escannor's 11th-Hour Superpower can only be achieved at High noon, and only for one minute, which somewhat mitigates its hax-ness. We still don't know why he's so powerful, and we've gotten flashbacks for everyone but him and Merlin, so perhaps we'll get an explanation for his bullshit soon enough...oh wait, he did have special chapter not too long ago. I'd forgotten, but it never explained why he was so strong. Well whatever.

We have gotten a flashback to Escanor. He was born with this power and hurt his brother with it.
The power and its name makes me think of the Supreme Deity, whose own face is obscured like the radiance of the Su, and makes me think Escanor serves a purpose similqr to Demon Melodias.

Yeah, people are making a bigger mystery out of Escanor's power than they really should. This is just his inborn magic power, like Full Counter is for Meliodas, Snatch is for Ban, and so on.
Although, Escanor's power is handled much more inconsistently than those other ones but still, people looking for some big reveal about him not being human or literally being a god, have completely missed the point of the character.
Escanor is the best thing to happen to this manga, he's just consistently entertaining.
I can't help but feel this comment is deliberate flamebait.
Nope, I understand that he must be controversial to some people because of his story-breaking nature but the fact that the author is consistent with just how ridiculously powerful he is, is refreshing.
He's Kenpachi done right for sure. In another series, Escanor would have just been beaten by Meliodas and that would be that.
I mean, I admit it is different to see this played so straight for so long, but that doesn't make it good. There's a reason characters like this usually don't stay invincible, and even more so why they aren't put on the good guys side. Different doesn't necessarily equally better.
All that being said, I'm still not convinced this story is going to end and him being unbeatable still a thing. Now that we've seen what his peak is like, that just means someone or something is going to surpass it/render it ineffective.
But as far as the fighting goes, that was actually pretty good. Although, whatever else, Meliodas is definitely a superior fighter, but being a good fighter has never been Escanor's thing.

Oh look, it turned out to be Escannor cocksucking hour after all. Sigh. But I guess... some people will like that.
I'm really half a mind to just drop this series and not look back. It's just not been very good in a long time, and this might be the straw that broke the camels back.
