Wow, the timeline is nonsensicaly compressed. And there seem to be no reason for the xenophobia and hate most martians seem to be feeling towards Earthlings. Most of them should be born on Earth!

The important question here though is on a scale of 1-10, how badly does the timeline break or bend your willing suspension of disbelief?

It breaks my Suspension of Disbelief pretty heavily. That's just not enough time for a separate culture to develop that sees themselves as the the Ubermenschen, as well as rejecting liberal democracy for some hereditary monarchy.

How Gundam is this show?

Very Gundam it seems, it's basically if Urobuchi wrote (a couple episodes of) Gundam.

And had a worse timeline.

Also looking at the damage from Heaven's Fall, there is no way the USA would not have nuked Mars out of orbit.

Also there is no way that the entire American continent gets devastated by Heaven's Fall while Eurasia suffers minimal damage.

The episode was fine but whoever wrote the backstory leading up to this is insane.

I have to wait to see the mecha fights before giving a full assessment but yeah, seems pretty Gundam-lite.

Honestly, after Heaven's Fall the should be no USA left... or life on Earth fr that matter.

Not to mention good luck striking a foe much superior militarily and technologically that sits milions of kilometers away and controls the only route there.

They are kind of on the other side of the planet?

Of course if half the Moon showered on the surface it wouldn't really help but that's a whole other problem.

The US can barely get probes to land on Mars in a timely and consistent manner. What makes you think they could nuke the red planet without either missing completely or being intercepted days before the missiles even got there?

Fun fact about ICB Ms. Their primary advantage is speed. No one wants to use a weapon of mass destruction your enemy has more than hour to intercept/evacuate before it hits.

Nevermind our ICB Ms only go up to an altitude of like what, 100 miles?

I'd like to point out that Martians apparently had their space fortresses in Earth orbit for 15 years before the start of the series. That's not situation Earthlings would agree on if they could do a damn thing about it.

Apparently the space fortresses are essentially leftover from the Martian invasion of Earth, after the Hypergate was destroyed.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm just waiting for the show to drop some bomb about mind-altering alien technology, because that's the best explanation for both the immediate rebellion and the founding of a new religion within months of the tech's discovery. Not to mention the xenophobia.

I wanna avoid Valvrave comparisons but maybe it's something like what happened with the Magius (colonists from Earth end up getting body-jacked by martian aliens with no bodys of their own who have to use bodies of other species)
