The later does not sound like this trope. The later sounds like the trope where people continently know how to pilot a boat because they spent a summer working as a longshoreman in their youth.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI see your point, but I think my suggestion is more concise and just as valid, as long as people know what a resume is.

Knowing what a resume is is what makes me not like it. It's a list of things you did in the 'past. Not events that are ongoing in the present. It makes it sound like its a backstory trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickTitles crowner's hooked.
Votes bump; only one in green right now.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMore votes bumping.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNo support for either alternative title. One at -3, the other at -11. What next?

... Use the one at 15-0? :)
Yep. Calling this crowner in favour of New Job as the Plot Demands.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWoo! Now do the wicks and examples need to be examined, or should the more focused name help that drift come naturally?
The wicks need to be moved and cleaned, preferably.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI've moved the page and some of the wicks, but I have a question: is PlayingWith. Why Do You Keep Changing Jobs even worth moving over, with all the misuse there, or would it be better to restart that from scratch? (I trust other tropers will look over the example section and the quotes page.)
It needs more focus on what makes the trope a trope, yeah.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanLOL. How did I miss the one at +16? Well, anyway, yeah, I like that. New Jobs as the Plot Demands.
Bumping it up, as I was looking at the thread backlog and noticed there are wicks in the triple digits for this page—538, to be exact.
Will go and start migrating wicks. If anyone wishes to join in, please do so.
Also, the Playing With is not worth moving over due to running on misuse IMO, so cutlisted that.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI'll do some wick cleaning on this as well as when I find the time.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I noticed the quote on the page is a misuse, so I nixed that. Will go through the quotes page for a suitable replacement.
Edit: Looked at the Quotes page, and there's misuse all over. Ended up nixing the obvious misuses, while those I'm uncertain on are left in. Cannot find a suitable replacement quote for the page.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe last 200 wicks have been taken care off, save for some pantheon sandboxes. The rename has also already been noted in the discussion page, the FAQ thread and on Renamed Tropes. All that's apparently left to do is to find an alternate page quote, though we could continue that discussion in the Page quote discussion thread.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I'll wait another day or so for responses before requesting a lock for this thread.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"The page quote can be handled by the quotes thread, yeah. These six wicks should be handled here though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanInquiry for a new quote was placed in the Quotes thread. As for wicks, the only wick left at the moment is a ghost wick that's in the cutlist.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAye, locking this then.

Crown Description:
There is significant misuse of this trope in two flavors: (a) application to a main character, and (b) using it for any character who just frequently changes jobs. Options below are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
How about "Keeps Changing Jobs"?
