Zeitgeist: A Historical Mind Screw in Space

Rudolph took the opportunity to speak up after the Oriental girl had. "Jesus vas ze son of Our Lord God and..." he cut off when she continued speaking, considering it rude to interrupt her. Rudolph looked around at those who had gathered here, none of them were German, or of the Master Race. How could he speak to any of them? They all seemed so different from him...and that mention of the year...was the Reich still standing? Of course it is! German military might is the best in the world! he thought smugly. There was one that caught his eye...

"...Uh, Miss? Vat is up vith your arm?"

Shiro stood silently as he contemplated what was going on. Being transported so far into the future seemed rather unlikely, as did being kidnapped off of the face of the earth. But he couldn't come up with any logical reason to be here and his fellow abductees seemed just as confused as he was. Realizing that this 'Charlotte' was most likely what had abducted him, Shiro drew his Katana, marched over to the drone and said "'Charlotte' as you call yourself, I demand you tell me why you have abducted us before I see how many swings it will take to cut you in half."

Elena looked over at the German boy. Of course one of her first observations was that he was ripped. But the real attention was his question about her arm.

Way to go Rudolph you've set her off.

She held up her arm and stared at it in loving admiration. "Oh this? Well I got this a while ago after losing my arm in an accident. Luckily prosthetics have come a looong way over the recent decades and now... This little beauty." She flexed the five metal digits branching off from the hand is if puncuating the end of her statement with a flourish.

"I understand that you all are very distraught by this news and will find it hard to believe. But I assure you, I am telling the truth. And I'm afraid I do not know why you are here. I'm not the one who brought you here. This is the extent of my knowledge. For generations, this vessel has been home to a colony of people looking for a new home in the galaxy. At the height of its success, over 1000 humans lived here. But for some reason, they are all gone now. I can't remember why. But I do remember helping them with the ship's tasks from time to time. They slept in those pods that you slept in, and now, I've been programmed to wake you up. None of you are prisoners. If there was a way for you to return home, I assure you, I would help you in any way I can. That's why I'm programmed to do. Help humans. But I'm afraid there is no way for you to return to the homes you once knew."

Rudolph could only stare at her before finally looking away in discomfort. "Zhat's...zhat's very nice young lady." Just looking at the arm made him uncomfortable and want to get as far away from her as possible. He listened to the words of the voice and the pit in his stomach grew ever larger.

"...So ve cannot ever go home, is zhat it?"

"Unless someone has invented time travel and I don't know about it, that is correct. You can never return home. But, with all of your help, I can get you back to Earth."

"I'm just going to decline to believe that." Jorje commented. "Mostly to stay sane, I think. But yeah, what now? You need our help to get us back home, then?"

"Well, yes. I only have access to half of the ship. There was a malfunction in the east wing, and I've been cut off. When I lose access only humans can go in and fix it. So, you all need to go there and turn on the computer systems. Once I have access to that half of the ship, we will have a better understanding of my navigational systems, and I can start plotting a course home."

Jaqueline's brain was working to make sense of it all. A sentient automaton? Over 2000 years in the future? A Chinese girl whom she could understand? An absolutely insolent american (not that surprising, they are revolutionaries after all)?

"How do we know to trust you, how do I know I can trust anyone here?" She then asked "The revolutionaries are everywhere, how do I know any of you are not one of them?!"

Somewhat pacified by what Charlotte's answers Shiro sheathed his sword and crossed his arms. When Jaqueline piped up asking if she could trust anyone around her. Annoyed, Shiro glared at Jaqueline with his one good eye and said "You cannot trust us, though all of you should all consider yourselves fortunate that I don't see any of you as a threat or you would be dead already."

Elena turned towards Jaqueline, not noticing that Nazi Boy was a bit freaked out by her arm. "Revolutionaries? What time period are you from? The French Revolution or something?" She asked with a bit of a chuckle.

"Hmmg... what about food...? And drink? Is there anything like that in this place? If I can't go back home... is there anything for us in Earth?" asks Fei.

"I can provide you with almost any kind of food you wish. And I'm afraid I don't know the current state of Earth."

"I'm going to stop you there, then." Jorje held up a hand. "Before we get anything else done, we should eat. We can talk over our plan, get to know eachother, while we eat. If you can make anything... get me a solid loaf of Sourdough bread. And some water."

"Any kind of food? Can you even make... like... chilled melons?" asks Feng, somewhat skeptic.

"I agree with the Gaijin." Said Shiro, referring to Jorje "According to the machine, some of us haven't eaten in centuries. 'Charlotte', bring me Onigiri and Sake." Shiro didn't care that Charlotte could be poisoning him, he hadn't eaten in over two thousand years and didn't want to stay in that state for any longer than he had to.
