I do still find it kind of amusing that Inklings are too dumb to even notice octolings are a different race entirely.

Nothing implies that. They know full well they are octos, as the many octopus jokes at Marina's expense show.

It's not that they don't know they are octos, but that they don't care that they're octos if they're still cool and fresh fellas.

Also, as a representative of the PLS NO SPOILERS crowd, I'm not watching any videos regarding octos. Not even trailers or simple victory animations.

That name kind of throws me off, because I see "Padre" and my brain wants to pronounce "Iso" like "EE-soe", but the pun only works if you pronounce it "EYE-soe".

From what I've heard, the official word is that inklings don't realize Marina is an octoling. Maybe it's more obvious in the Japanese text?

I thought the official statement is that they do know she's an Octoling, they just don't care because she's so nice.

Maybe it's just a ginormous case of Kayfabe.

I leveled up my Splatfest Tee for team Donnie last night. I'm getting off to a later start than usual for this Splatfest because I had to call the police this morning regarding about $300 USD worth of Nintendo DS and 3DS games that have gone missing from my house (mostly Pokemon games, so see this post in the Pokémon General Thread for details.

But soon I'll be ready to jump into action for my favorite Ninja Turtle, Donatello!

Edit: This has been my best start to a Splatfest yet. After my first 7 matches to determine my starting Donnie power, I'm 6-1 (one of my wins was a mirror match), and my starting power is 2095.9. I don't often peak that high, let alone start there.

Off to an atrocious start. I don't think I've ever fallen 200 points before. Hopefully things will start looking up later on.

I've gotten a couple mirror matches on team Donnie so far. He's apparently up for popularity.

Also, like 90% of my matches so far have been on Shifty Station.

I've reached King rank now. After that awesome start, team Raph got a few wins and almost caught up, but then I started pulling ahead on my win/loss ratio. Things are looking up.

I don't like this Shifty Station. I don't like this Shifty Station at all. There's only about three routes out of spawn, so if the other team is even slightly competent and manages to lock those routes down (which is easy considering there's four to a team), that's it, they win.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this one either. It's weird. It's large in terms of overall size, but it's really hard to move around in because there's a bottleneck in the middle that has raised areas on either side, which means whichever team can control that basically wins.

Yeah, I'm legit getting more mirror matches for Team Donnie than I am getting regular matches. This is infuriating because it means matchmaking takes a small eternity.

I'm also up to my seventh loss in a row, mostly thanks to miserably worthless teammates. Normally I'd take a break until the maps change at this point, but I was busy earlier today so didn't get a chance to play until now, and I've still got another 60 points to King with no map changes left.

I have to say, this has been one of my best performances yet as far as Power goes. I started above 2000 for the first time ever, and while I dropped below it for a while, I came back and got back up, surpassing my starting power in the match that earned me King rank and I ended my day there at my peak.

I would've tried to hit Queen rank, but I had my last bit of schoolwork for the semester to finish up, and I spent most of the day working on that. I think at this point, I'll have to settle for Defender.

Oh, well. Across all three Splatfests, I probably got as many snails as I would if I hit top rank in a typical month. I'm satisfied.

Yeah, I didn't get all the way to the top, although it's mainly because the Hyrule Warriors definitive version just came out and I was playing that all day.

I started out at 2049.2 and topped out at around 2136. Then I had a crappy run at the end and I think I ended up at around 2009 at the end.

Squeaked in just under the wire. Hit Donnie King with about ten minutes to spare. If I hadn't gotten a win at the last minute, I wouldn't have had time to get enough points via losses. It usually takes me about an hour to get 100 points in a splatfest — tonight, it took me more than two to get 90. (I played for an hour or so earlier today and stopped with 9 points into Champion.)

Hovered around the 2000 power mark the whole time. Ended with 1994, max was 2076.

Record vs Raph: 12/23

Record vs Donnie: 5/12

Total: 17/35

My last five matches were a loss (25.3% turf inked by my team), a loss (18.1%), a loss (22.2%), a win (68.6%), and a loss (29.8%). Jesus, what a shitshow.

I feel like the "tournament" idea might have been envisioned for the Ninja Turtles IP first, instead of first for Sanrio and then adapted for a Western property. It works much better for a team of four, than for four characters (albeit popular ones) out of countless.

...actually...hmm...

There are four other characters that I think would be perfect to theme a Splatfest tourney around...

Speaking about that Sanrio splatfest... I was hoping Aggretsuko and Kuromi were participants I guess... and I want those shirts.

In other news, Raphael loses to Donatello, 1-2. Raphael takes popularity while Donatello barely wins in battle in both categories.
