Speaking of, how has the meta viewed that strategy in the last month? From what I remember, it seemed the majority of people silently agreed to not use that retreat strategy while in the lead. In my experience, the leading team will usually push anyway or just maintain a defensive wall rather than do that whole retreat strategy.
We are all made of star stuff. Very, very weird star stuff.I haven't seen that strategy very often either, but then again most of the matches I've played lately have been tightly contested, so there hasn't been much occasion for it anyway.
Reaction Image RepositoryMan, coming back to this game after a good while playing Team Fortress 2 really makes me appreciate the lightning quick matches of Splatoon. Just 3 minutes and boom, done.
Bad team on your hands? Just deal with 'em for 3 minutes and get all your cash, no prob. Got splatted? Wait 5 seconds to respawn and get back to the frontlines in 15 seconds at most on a large map if you decide not to jump directly to any of your teammates. It's great.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."And in pubbie Turf War, a player who isn't good at PVP confrontations can be relegated to turfing while their teammates take over the active PVP.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Yeah, I've been in Turf Wars where I barely had any direct interaction with the other team.
Reaction Image RepositoryJust had my first session in over a month. It feels like I never left. Remembering old strategy, carpet bombing the map, anticipating enemy players, scoring double over my teammates, watching people DC, fighting a team with 3 E-Liters and a Luna... man I missed this game.
But really, it feels good to come back. I think I needed a break. I remember feeling really bitter after the last Splatfest.
We are all made of star stuff. Very, very weird star stuff.I'm just glad y'all didn't drop the game...kinda of like how I did for Overwatch, but I still go back to it from time to time whenever we decide to group up.
Also, I think playing Overwatch has improved my aim with Splatoon.
I don't really play any other online multiplayer games, so this basically fills that niche for me. I also just finally got around to finishing the first Bayonetta and getting started on the 2nd one.
What have you been playing lately?
Reaction Image RepositoryWell, I got around to finishing Metal Gear Solid 5. Now I wait for the third chapter...
I also got Boarderlands 2 and Planetbase. I'm also doing my yearly/October run of Majora's Mask for the umpteenth time. This time I'm playing through without collecting the dungeon faeries or upgrading my sword.
We are all made of star stuff. Very, very weird star stuff.Armello, Stardew Valley, Knights of the Old Republic, Ittle Dew
Moving to a new apartment and me scrooging on paying for internet and cable makes any real-time online games highly unfeasible...
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Heh, I was just replaying Borderlands 2 a few days ago. Good game.
Reaction Image Repositoryi have school! and i got distracted by twilight princess hd for a while.
off the shitsI 100% Kirby: Planet Robobot tonight, and I've started Paper Mario: Color Splash.
It's SHOCKINGLY really good. I couldn't believe it.
Color Splash really good?
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Paper Mario: Color Splash is really good.
...In my opinion.
For reference, I absolutely hated Sticker Star.
So, how about that Splatoon?
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I should get back to trying to fight my way to S rank.
What's the most OP set in the game again?
Depends on what you want to do.
"Who cares about Accuracy" close-range Build: Swim Speed Up, Damage Up, or Ink Efficiency Main for main skill focuses. Use Luna Blaster and variants.
"Fast Roller" Carbon Roller(s) build: Swim Speed Up, Ink Efficiency Main, Ink Efficiency Sub if relying on subweapons or Special Duration Up for Bomb Rushers.
"Suppression" build: Ink Efficiency Main, Damage Up, Ink Recharge Up. Use Heavy or Hydra Splatling.
"Grenadier" build: Use any weapon with Burst, Splat, or Suction bombs, preferably with Bomb Rush. Ink Efficiency Sub, Bomb Range Up, Special Duration Up for Bomb Rushers.
Turfer (Brush) Support (My personal build): Use Haunt or Cold-blooded with Ink Resistance, load up on Swim Speed Ups, Ink Recharge Up, and/or Ink Efficiency Main. Use Inkbrush or N-Zap '89.
"Rainmaker, ho!" build (My personal setup): Vanilla Mini Splatling with Haunt and some Quick Respawns. Recommend Ink Resistance and Walk/Swim Speed Ups and Ink Recharge Up if you still have sub slots available.
"Armor Piercing Sniper" build: Use 2 main and 5 sub Damage Ups with any Charger.
"Mobile Sniper/Snapshooter" build: Use any Squiffer. Walk Speed Up, Ink Efficiency Main, Damage Up.
"Double-tapper": Bamboozler builds, use Swim Speed Up and Walk Speed Up. Remember - 1 fully charged shot plus 1 chaser equals easy 2HKO.
KRAKEN build: Use any weapon with Kraken special. Swim Speed Up, Special Duration Up, Special Charge Up. AVOID Ninja Squid, it does nothing for Krakens besides slowing them down. OPTIONAL: Take Quick Jump or Stealth Jump so you can Kraken jump to teammates or Beakons.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!@No Limit: Huh. I had heard that it wasn't nearly as bad as people were expecting, though not up to TTYD level (which, to be fair, is an outrageously high bar, because TTYD was really good). I'll have to get around to picking it up then. Same for Robobot.
Anyway, yeah, Splatoon. Random idea that I was thinking of: do you think it would work if Splatoon gave bonus points for stuff that occurs during matches? You'd have to balance it to make sure that people would still focus on the objective. That said, I think you could do that if you also had team bonuses that were worth more than individual ones. So for individual bonuses, you've have things like:
- Going a whole match without being splatted
- Splatting every member of the opposite team at least once
- Covering over 500p worth of turf in a match
- Capturing the objective 3 times
While team bonuses would be things like:
- Came back from a deficit of 50 points or more
- Won match without ever giving up the lead
- Won match without ever letting other team get the objective
And the team bonuses would be worth more than the individual ones, so that it wouldn't be worth focusing your energy on trying to get those bonuses rather than winning the match.
Reaction Image RepositoryThe reward for trapping the entire enemy team in their spawn?
The delicious salt you can just taste in the air!
That one gives you negative points. Same for if you retreat with the rainmaker and camp in your own side of the map.
Reaction Image RepositoryWait, negative "points" like cash and EXP, or rank points?
If the former; worth it!
If the latter; B-b-but... Delicious! SALT!
Now you get to share the delicious salt with everyone; you included!

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Depends, I guess. Or it could just give the other guys a bonus for putting up with your BS.
Reaction Image Repository
Yeah, I hate people who do that. Fun to see it backfire horribly.
