Ristar was evolved from the rabbit who almost took Sonic's role.

A lot of (laughing) in just the first page.

This is very interesting. I really love the insights and problem-solving that goes into game design.

Well, it was translated form Japanese, but I was assured that the Japanese pun was just as good (or bad, depending.)

I'm facing the dilemma that I kinda want to see the Japanese pun but I don't care enough to try and find the interview in Japanese.

boop

Hmm... looks like the first one was "maa, ii janai" which then had "ka" added after it (where, for the unaware, "ika" means squid.) "Ika" was also the pun in the response, but I don't know enough Japanese to know what that sentence was meant to be.

Iwata's sentence in Japanese, if you remove the pun, translates to something like "Well, that's not good."

As for Nogami's response, I think he's saying "Ah, I see. Well, I hope so" or possibly "Well, how good" but I'm not entirely sure.

"Iijanaika" is the phrase, although it's not uncommon for the "ka" to be left out in abbreviation. It means, roughly, "isn't it fine?" or "isn't it okay?" or something along those lines.

And of course, since we're getting the squid crossover courtesy of Japan, it's only natural we're also getting the team shooter crossover courtesy of America, am I right? ...Right?

...Right?

Ahh yeah, it's actually common to use the negative in a question when you're trying to express a positive, like when... I dunno, like when you're saying "aren't you a good little boy" to your dog. He is a good little boy. He is the best.

So yeah, "ka" is an optional particle you can say at the end of a question (which you usually will when you're being all formal and/or polite), so "ii ja nai ka" would be something like "Isn't that nice!". Iwata turned the "ka" into "ika", so it became a subtle "Isn't that a nice squid!"

From what I heard, the last time Team Fortress 2 had a crossover appearance, it wasn't very good.

The point was that the TF 2 cast apparently hardly sounded like themselves in their cross over cameo.

Whelp, I just preordered the boy and girl amiibo from Playasia. I'd really rather support my usual retailer, but I'm just way too nervous. I'll make it up to them later.
