Sony's Medusa (2016 - 17???)

I don't think avoiding the rape origin is a bad idea. I mean if this were, say, an HBO movie meant for adults, yeah. But an animated movie that is probably targeted at the Family Market? No.

Again, the rape part was added in later on in retellings. The oldest version of the myth has Medusa and the Gorgons born that way. The rape part was added in because of competing city-states who wanted to demonize Athena to make their city look good (same reason why there are so many different versions of the Arachne myth).

Lauren is still working steadily on Wander Over Yonder, right?

Oddly, despite of Disney's usual bad rep, it seems they currently are the best place for animators to work at the USA. Warner's animation department is kind of a mess since Timm stepped down from the DC division and CN insists on mostly appeal to only one kind of show, Dreamworks is at an all times low, and Sony... well...

Sony Animation is fucked... As fucked as this movie will be by critics, if not finances.

Is it wrong to want another Sony leak to happen?

First they dismiss Gennedy Tarvotsky from his Popeye project and now this. Not to mention SPA couldn't even get Phil Lord and Chris Miller to lead their studio, because —as Lord himself put it— "artists have been treated like paper, and it's too hard to do great work there." The studio's effectively throwing away talent when it comes knocking at their door.

Though really, this is just the tip of the iceberg in the grand scheme of things. The Sony e-mail leaks and the whole debacle concerning Spider-Man by themselves give off a general impression that the current management for Sony's film studios as a whole seem to be effectively clueless. Misguided executive meddling, applied towards the very last places they should applying it to boot. It really does look like they have no idea what they are doing.

I mean, shouldn't more people be concerned about this? Bigger, more influential people? If I didn't know any better, I'd say that Hollywood as a whole is treating the bullcrapiness of Sony's management like it's some kind of Elephant in the Room.

...which might actually be the case.

They are too blind to see it themselves, and why would their competitors care? If Sony screws itself over, the better for its rival companies and those who could profit from jumping on its carcass.

Should we try to convince Sony to hire Lauren back since they're making a big mistake here?

People forget that talented directors who happen to be artist leave a Hollywood movie in development all the time. This happens to most of Hollywood's films, let alone in animation!

I got into a heated debate about that with the bronies.

Were you trying to argue that the image hasn't been deleted and they just aren't cool enough to see it in its full glory, so their minds put up a Perception Filter to protect them?

Let me take it back from the top alright? My friend(who made the tumblr post about convincing Sony to get Genndy back onto Popeye) made a tumblr post to get Sony to convince Lauren to get back onto Medusa. I took a photo of his tumblr page about Medua thinking I'd get good help from bronies. However. When I posted the image on derpibroou thinking I could get a lot of interest from the bronies, most of them were just downright prickish about it. Talking to them(well some of them) is like talking to a brick wall. They didn't listen. I left the conversation, and I can only assume that the conversation went from people who wanted to support it, while others said things like 'fuck off, it ain't gonna work'. So the mods probably deleted the photo.

Well it isn't going to work, for one (this is just like that stupid Tumblr campaign to get Tartakovsky back on Popeye), and for another it kind of did break a rule since it's a website about ponies, not about Lauren Faust.

And really, I say it's good that Lauren isn't working for Sony. They don't want her, she can do a new series that will get rave reviews and make them regret ever removing her. Tartakovsky is doing Samurai Jack once more, she can do another big thing.

I got my friend to delete it anyways, a petition might be a better way for this anyway, but I digress. Besides. Has Lauren announced what she's doing now?

Not as far as I know. She might go to working on stuff for Wander Over Yonder, but that's just a guess. She already helped with character designs for it anyways.

You still believe Tumblr petitions or whatever can do SOMETHING...That's sad.

I didn't say that. I suggested a petition, but I didn't say I believed in that they worked.
