And her gauntlets look cool, looking forward to seeing them in action.

Since it's DLC, it think it made sense to go with Tanya and Tremor.

I'm kinda hoping that Jacqui has one variation where she fights without the gauntlets entirely and is just crazy rushdown.

Obviously, that's not going to happen, but I like to imagine that it would be a nice callback to one of the three good things about MK: Annihilation where Jax (somehow) rips off the armored plating on his arms to fight Motaro.

On a side note, I never understood why X-rays seem to be too much of a suspension of disbelief for some people, especially considering the history of the franchise. In effect, they're just the alternate "bone breaker" throws from MK 4 upgraded to be a SFIV-esque Ultra Combo. In fact, looking back at SCIV, a lot of the Ultra Combos are also pretty brutal. Like, really brutal.

Maybe it's just the difference in tone? Maybe it's because we still subconsciously see the MK characters as real people because they were originally digitized sprites of real people?

Most likely difference of tone. Other fighting games don't have something as visceral as the X-Rays mid-match. Even Soul Calibur, with the focus on people swatting each other with big-ass weapons, is fairly clean, with the most being Clothing Damage.

In regards to the DLC characters, while I'm excited for Jason and Predator, I'm actually a bit more interested in Tremor and Tanya. Tremor because it's another case of NRS dipping into the fandom for ideas, and Tanya because I'm curious just what exactly she brings to the table as opposed to the likes of, say, Havik or Bo Rai Cho.

......Speaking of Tremor, it also occurs to me we haven't seen anything of Skarlet.

The words in each corner are apparently scrambled and probably hint at who's being shown. This is what I've been seen guessed so far:

Slainho=Shaolin (Liu Kang)

Garnwum= Warm Gun (Erron)

Sheappins= Few people seem to be going with "happiness", and I don't know what/who that could relate to.

Gallofend=Fallen God (Shinnok)

Turns out there's only three reveals Friday. My first thought was happiness=friendships as well, though the connection there isn't nearly as cut and dry as the other three.

No gameplay of Jacqui yet? Why such the wait?

I will be one happy camper if they bring back Friendships.

Because they do them basically at random. Like, we're only just getting Shinnok now and we've known about him for a while, Sonya's still MIA from the character select screen in the streams and she's been officially confirmed by a gameplay trailer, and we still don't technically have official word that Kenshi is in, despite them not treating it like a secret at all.

And frankly I'm more interested in any of those three than I am in Jacqui. Which is just personal bias on my part, since I'm terrible with Jax, so I don't have high hopes for my skill with his daughter, but whatever.

Speaking of skill, I'm retroactively very happy about Kung Lao's inclusion, since I've just started playing MK9 recently, and I'm actually not too bad with him. Or rather, he's one of the characters I could be not bad with, with a little practice.

That might be because Kung Lao is one of the best characters in MK 9, and was at one point completely broken.

Possibly. But Sonya is supposedly in the same tier level as him, and I'm complete garbage with her. Similarly, Jax is high tier, and I just finished saying I'm terrible at playing him.

I hope we get some Jacqui, Sonya and Jax gameplay soon though.

Liu Kang too, since we haven't seen anything of him in this game yet. There's a lot of theories and speculation about his current state.

I wouldn't mind him showing up as a fire god, like his 9 ending.

Considering the state we last saw him in, I don't think there's any chance of that. If the leak is to be believed, he'll have a bit of a Freddy Krueger thing going on.

I was hoping Liu Kang would take a jab at Raiden. I am not disappointed.

I also like his fatality. It's not flashy, but it's effective.

Was that Onaga I saw?

Also, do you think that because of Liu Kang's trailer and apparently relatively early appearance in the story mode, he's NOT the 'complete-story-for-this-kharacter'?

Definitely looked like him. He might just make it in as DLC.

Bo Rai Cho was always funny

Liu Kang doesn't look as scarred as some leaks claimed he'd be. Unless they were talking about his Revenant look.

I didn't notice before, but New!Liu's costume and longer hair do kinda look like Deadly Alliance-Shang Tsung.

New Liu Kang is awesome so far.
