Halo 5: Guardians

I wonder how they'll handle the long standing separation of Blue Team from the games.

They don't need much more of an introduction aside from "John's old team!" And players got a cameo of them in the Halo 2 Anniversary Terminals as well.

Fred's probably in the picture too. Going by the Guardians Beta, he'll be wearing Centurion armor.

I wanna see an update of SPI armor, because I always thought it was way cooler than normal MJOLNR stuff (and S-II Is were the shit, man).

Why do I get the feeling that Osman is going to try and tell Blue Team "Go down and hunt your former teammate with Locke." and that's why they'll be in the game.

Looks like someone inside might be actively screwing with their bosses' plans, given that he wasn't supposed to be on the same flight as Walker to begin with.

I'm sorry, I'm not following the game. What's the summary so far, beyond Sully having to edit Halo 2's cover art?

Summary: Ben Giraud is an ex-propaganda artist who survived the Battle of New Mombasa. After the war he's hired by Sullivan of ONI (who was in Forward Unto Dawn as a kid) to interview people who supposedly knew Master Chief. Giraud interviews the pre-approved people, who tell him that John was a prodigy from Eridanus II who was kidnapped by Insurrectionists, came out of imprisonment stronger, joined the Marines, then was chosen by ONI for the exclusive Spartan Program. But Giraud does independent research too and finds clues instead that John died when he was six or was a pre-teen when he was augmented.

In the latest episode, Giraud is called to ONI after re-interviewing a subject and asserting that the guy lied about his story. He fears his call was caught, but finds they just want him to interview Chief Mendez, who trained John as a Spartan. After that, Giraud is told to mail his draft right after he gets home, which he takes to mean that ONI is firing him and going to edit the interviews themselves. As he goes home, Giraud encounters a former interviewee who is supposedly to be permanently stationed at Saturn. Giraud tries to question him but is sedated by the transport staff. When he comes to, he finds he recorded the incident and hears that ONI was responsible for sedating him. Realizing that they don't care about him unless he regurgitates their sanitized story to the public, Giraud refuses to send the draft and prepares the Hunt The Truth episodes.

Given the sounds of tone of voice and the notion "more than you'll ever know", the person peeing in ONI's cornflakes may very well be Mendez.

I wonder if the Covenant in 5 will be a B-plot to ONI constantly trying to get John killed and eventually causing their whole thing to blow wide open and cause FLEETCOM to rip them apart and burn the pieces.

Someone on Halopedia claims it could be Sully, seeing how insistent he was that Giraud get on that flight ASAP. Would be a surprise if he turned out to actually not be an ONI stooge after all.

On the other hand, it's worth noting that Mendez never mentioned anything about John outside of training and combat, like where he came from or how old he was. I think he didn't want to lie, so he deliberately avoided mentioning anything on those topics.

FLEETCOM? More like the worst thing they need to worry about is getting on Blue Team's bad side. A hundred Infinitys wouldn't be able to stop them, what makes you think ONI can do anything but beg for mercy if that happens?

Given the completely ad hoc nature of the "interview" it might be both Sully and Mendez. Mendez knows how to walk a line to where you might not know what he's doing. Hence his "rephrasing" asking. He could be the biggest Mole in ONI and he's the last person they'd suspect of anything because he knows how to keep himself beneath suspicion.

Wow. Not even 343 can keep their copies from screwing up at official events?

Uhhh why should I care again? I'm not an MLG kind of guy so...why should I care about some cup event?

Basically the Master Chief Collection is so broken that not even official copies at an official 343 sanctioned event are immune to bugs and connection issues. Considering it consists entirely of ports, people are baffled at how it could have shipped in such terrible condition. 343 has apologized by giving early buyers a free port of ODST as well, but this fiasco has a lot of people worried about what kind of quality Halo 5 will have.

Calling it right now, Locke will kill Blue team, probably each in an individual boss fight, similar to what happened to The Boss's old team in Metal Gear Solid 3.

Would that mean Linda is Sniper Wolf or The End?
