Just as a notice, I might have some difficulty posting for a day or so, but my wifi access should stabilize by Wednesday afternoon or so.
It's been fun.The facts we have to work with are thus:
- Redshirts won't hold. That said, guards are career soldiers, so they are probably overall better than bandits. All things being equal, neutralizing the bandit leader should turn the tide.
- Addendum to that is apparently Sarah sensed something magical? An ace up their sleeves?
- Mark is behind enemies' line, but with friendly fire on, it'd probably be inadvisable to fire into the melee. That said, a clear shot at the heavyset bandit leader- if it doesn't drop him- could be helpful. Do they come pre-coated with paralytic agents?
- The rest of the party are behind the convoy, presumably concealed from sight for the moment.
- The wagons are secured. Damn, it'd have been neat if we could just topple them over the charging bandits. Well, we still need to use them, anyway...
- Jhelani wants to reach somewhere high, for clear lane of fires?
With these in mind, I'm only seeing two strategies- I only dictates Riviera's action, but I hopes this is fine.
A) Riviera moves in to reinforce the line under attack by the Bandit leader. Sarah assists if possible, but concentrates on effecting the battlefield as a whole. Mark shoots people, or the bandit leader in the back? Jhelani reaches the high ground? I don't really know of Nicholas' combat capabilities. Zhen Long stay put as the cripple he is. Jing proceeds with the bashing of fools. Redshirts continue redshirt'ing.
B) Riviera wait until the Bandit leader overextends to prevent his retreat, then moves to engage. Sarah deliberates the Bandit leader when possible- especially if he stupidly follows the one-on-one boss battle convention. Everything else remain as Plan A.
I prefer plan B, but its a Risk vs Reward thing, I'd say. Higher chance of greater casualties vs Higher chance of the bandit leader escaping.
Yeesh. They're both pretty simplistic- if you guys have other plans in mind, lay it on us.

*checks for signs of life*
Sorry for the slow pace of late. Anyway, I'm going to have limited Internet access from next Monday to Friday - will still try to post on a regular basis, but post length may not be as long or detailed as I'd like. Now, while we wait for the slow, arduous process of getting people onto wagons...
Ah, screw it. That crossbow bolt isn't going to stay airborne forever.

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Ow, daltar. All things being equal, that's a literally below the belt attack.
...Ya think?
Anyway, decide among yourselves:
- Who should take the call from Mission Control?
- What do you do with the dying bandit?
- Who should loot the bodies? (Make a show of it, and I'll let you know if there's anything important.)
Also, this is one point where the sequence of posts will be important (as opposed to my fudging things for the sake of the narrative), so discuss with each other and plan your actions appropriately.

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Apologies for the double post, but this bears reiteration. Ow.
Okay, the caravan should be ready to move on. Final posts from players to finish up this bit (unless there's something else you'd like to settle), and I'll change scene.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Double post: Room's clear - feel free to discuss plans, share information, whatever.

Hey, at least I held off from poking fun at the NPC names
Cut to the next morning - make your posts, and the caravan will move off when you're ready. Expect a timeskip.

Right: Everyone gets the freeform equivalent of taking one move or standard action to try to mitigate the damage taken. One post per person only. (Because let's face it, people, the caravan's just triggered a magical IED.)
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Could it be times for the Dame's Lecture Hall?
