I hope Koba is dead, personally. He served his purpose, and had a good death scene. They should branch out with their antagonists.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Rh, either that stinger was messing with us, or I don't know what else it could possibly mean. He's the only one whose death being reversed would be relevant enough for that.
Are the makers of this series planning on remaking the original Charlton Heston "Planet of the Apes" Prime film? One would imagine they would do if they kept making films up to that point in the time-line. Thoughts?
Aside from altering Caesar's origin, they seem to be going with the Conquest timeline mostly. Hard to say. With this prequel stuff, the only mystery they've got for us is, how did things get so bad that now the Apes rule over man?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThey would need to come up with a new twist, obv.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I just found out that Toby Kebbell, Koba's actor, is going to be Doctor Doom in the new Fantastic Four.
Now I just can't stop imagine Koba in Doom's armor
*points at face* RICHARDS, WORK!
Rise seemed to be a combination of Escape and Conquest. Dawn seems to be starting a two-parter version of Battle.
So if they do run with a remake of Planet of the Apes Prime, who's gonna be Taylor?
Considering the changed backstory, who's to say it has to be a Taylor? Are we sure the first series was a stable time loop? And even if it was, does this one have to be the same?
Hmm, the original movies were a stable time loop initially, set in motion by Taylor's initial crash, and Caesar's mommy and daddy using his repaired space-ship to go back in time, through the same worm-hole that brought Bright Eyes to them. Things changed at that point, for instead of Aldo leading the apes to supremacy it was Caesar. There's more to it here:

It posits that the end of the last original Apes movie could have ended up with the apes and the humans living in harmony. I prefer that interpretation myself.
Didn't Rise mention a missing manned spacecraft?
Also, while in a chatroom discussing the Apes creating a culture of their own, someone mentioned there being some totems made of wood and animal bone. While I was looking for this, I found a picture of Maurice in front of the "Ape shall not kill Ape" wall with "Apes Together Stronger" and "Knowledge is" with the last part blocked by some chimps. What's the last word there? Does it show up in the movie? I do plan on watching the film, just curious now.
I don't remember the last word showing, but one could assume it's power just because that's our phrase. You could just as easily claim something else, I guess.
ETA: And yes, Rise mentions a missing space craft. Considering we already know the twist from the first series, they couldn't really pull a repeat of the first one's ending and expect it to hold enough of a punch. Especially since they started with the prequels this time and we're watching the Apes fight for survival and freedom.

Saw the movie today. Great film, you should definitely see it if you liked the first one.
Saw it today and I loved it.
On the matter of legitimately remaking the first film; the only way I see it happening is if there's a time skip after the next film. The next film can be about the war and the bookend to Caeser's character. The fourth year will cut to many years in the future where the apes have now become a civilized society and the humans are (supposedly) extinct.
Saw the film yesterday. Loved it.
9.5 out of 10
Mom and dad also loved it.
The cliches of end of the world survivors different types being spotted before occurring we liked being noticed before unfolding into nastier mess.

"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenYeah, this is probably my third favorite film of the year (behind Captain America The Winter Soldier and Edge Of Tomorrow).
Going by the fact that this seems to be a trilogy, I'm guessing that the next film will be about the war, and how the humans lose.
I'm hoping for peaceful coexistence.

Not interested in the movie, but an ad for the local theater had an interesting take on the movie's title.

Easily the best movie of the year so far. Great villain, great hero, great conflict.
ok boomerJust caught this on Netflix.
I'm very pleased that it wasn't the humans who caused things to go completely bad. True, they created Koba in the first place, but he started the fight first. That pleases me. It's incredibly sad, but that's how it goes sometimes.
That being said, Koba is a great actor. Humans didn't just teach him hate, if that stunt with the two guards is anything to go by.
It's kinda funny he even remembers how to do something like that.
One Strip! One Strip!Anyone want to start a thread for 2017's War of the Planet of the Apes? I'll do it if no one else wants to. We have one!

Peace is the only battle worth waging.
t's possible. There's a LOT of ape noises, though. More than one ape should be making. So maybe his close companions found him and helped him out of the wreckage?
Yes, I saw it today, and boy did I love it. They really made Koba and his crew seem like those rebel warlords from third world countries. The kind who use child soldiers and fight like gangstas. They even held their guns like that and used spray and pray tactics. If Koba comes back as a credible threat, I really hope his army captures or observes some real soldiers and learns how to fight properly with guns.
