So, am I the only one who thinks Grovyle looks better than Sceptile?

Nope. I can agree with that.

I really don't think I have any starter where I prefer the pre-evolved form over the final evolution.

Well, other than Grovyle/Sceptile (which, thank you for making me feel like not crazy), I also prefer Fenekin to literally any of its evolutions. I don't know what they were smoking when they decided to make the fox stand up.

I prefer Sceptile to Grovyle, though I'm really not one of those Pokemon fans that pays any real attention to Pokemon designs for quality.

IMO, Grovyle always looked ugly compared to Sceptile.

I don't mind Sceptile much, but I do thinbk Grovyle is kinda cooler. Much sleeker.

And girl, don't you go shittin' on Delphox around me, honey.

I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.

I like Grovyle more than Sceptile, but I think I like Mega Sceptile more.

I will shit on the witch-wolf all I want! And she will like it!

See, I have this irrational behavior which makes me pass up Pokémon that I don't like the designs of. Well, I guess it's not that irrational, since I'm choosing which monsters I'm going to be looking at the backside of for the next 12 hours. See the aforementioned comment where I didn't pay attention to Mudkip until, like, yesterday due to derp face.

I keep looking at Sceptile and imagining it chasing prey through the jungle, only for its tail to get hung up on some bracken and let the prey get away.

Is it okay to like Dewott better than Samurott? Once it stopped standing up, I just tuned out.

But I like Mudkip's evolutions because they keep the derpface somewhat.

Dang. Three posts on this page. First you do the "am I the only one who" thing about an extremely common opinion, then pull the "I don't know what they were smoking" about a perfectly sensible design decision, and then that. That... takes skill.

Bayleef is a common choice that I can sorta agree with. I do see the appeal of Grovyle over Sceptile, too, though it's not too extreme. Wartortle is kinda neat with those fancy ears. Quilava is cuter than Typhlosion. I think my greatest preference might be Dewott over Samurott, though the latter isn't too terrible, either. (Again, an extremely common opinion.) And Braixen is, of course, perfect. I really like Delphox in concept, too, but its animations are just too stiff in the game, so it's far less beautiful than it ought to be.

Or are we talking the stage-ones? Because that's a whole nother story.

Either way is fine. Really, only time when I prefer pre-evolution over the final evolution with Pokémon is Mienfoo.

I gotta say the gen 6 starters final evos are my favorite of all time.

Empoleon is the only one before them with designs as good as theirs.

The Miens are 2 of my top four. My preference goes slightly to 'Foo too because of the internet.

And to transition that into ORAS related conversation, I wonder if the dex will be expanded Pre-National to include some popular non-evolution related Gen 4+ monsters, as well? We really don't need any more Lucario pandering, but it'd be odd going from Kalos's 450 Pokemon deep dex down to Hoenn 150-ish.

The way that the promotional material is worded, I think they are going to be adding more Pokemon to the Hoenn Dex. Especially with Phoebe's Dusknoir being shown.

Dusknoir's not so unusual, since it's directly linked to a Generation 3 family. HG/SS did the same thing for Lickilicky, Tangrowth and company (though no CPU trainer in game used them, so I guess there's a deviation confirmed right there). I'm specifically wondering if non-evolution related Pokemon will be in.

That depends. How did FRLG handle Pokemon from generations two and three and how did HGSS handle Pokemon from generations three and four?

I had no idea that was a common opinion. Seriously. This is the first time I've ever really discussed Pokemon with other people, as I am an adult and IRL I'm supposed to act that way.

Unless you're talking about me pulling off three memes in a row, which I did not realize I had done until your comment made me realize it.

Also, how is "Standing fox" a perfectly sensible design decision?

That is a perfectly sensible Fire/Psychic design decision.

FRLG doesn't count, they barred all later gen Pokemon from the main story. HGSS was better, they allowed things like Mamoswine and Tangrowth to be obtained.

ORAS probably will be different from those two, since they've specifically said that there's different Pokemon in Hoenn than in the originals.

It's based off classic RPG wizards.

All Gen 6 starter pokemon follow the whole Mage, Rogue, Paladin thingy. [nja]
