They've still made three top-notch battles this season. I've faith in them, as long as they keep away from moralising, not because there's anything bad about tackling relevant issues, but because the show's format clearly isn't good for it.

[up]it depends. freedy mercury vs sinatra, dumblodore vs gandalf tackle somewhat the issue and they did pretty well

They weren't tackling the issues. Those videos had the combatants making some politically-incorrect digs at their opponents, but they were just that; digs, meant to be offensive. The videos themselves weren't devoted to tackling a social issue.

Don't worry, I really doubt the mid-season finale will be preachy or anything at all unless they arbitrarily use Alexander the Great's supposed homosexuality and I really heavily doubt that.

Don't click that spoiler unless you want an actual spoiler about the mid-finale :P

[up][up][up][up][up]And more often that not those screw the rapper more than anything else, Mercury wreck Sinatra pretty damn hard, thomas edision lose to Tesla and so own, so far the only exception I have seen where a political incorrect rapper win is clint eastwood and in part for his last line

in the case of Douglass they have ton of material from jefferson shitty life and being overated as founding father and them they went on tangent

But granted, they still have good video, ramsey vs Julia is freaking awsome while Bond vs Power have THE best sinergy of the whole series.

... Am I the only one who genuinely enjoyed the Jefferson vs Douglass battle? It was, in fact, my favorite battle, so far, this season :|

However, this one had me baffled. First I was confused at what was going on, then I was "no, they can't be doing this", then "... they are doing it, for real."

[up][up][up][up] That's just an opinion. A lot of people may feel that Sinatra, Gandalf or Edison had worse raps, but I don't get the impression that the odds were particularly stacked against them — whereas the Jefferson vs. Douglass fight had Jefferson outright concede defeat in his last verse, making it near-impossible not to support Douglass. The battle after the first verse is near-entirely devoted to Jefferson's hypocrisy in the way that the other battles were not devoted to their combatants' failings.

Just to point it out, Jefferson never actually apologized. He admits that he owned slaves, but immediately backpedals, talking about how he was against slavery and had better things to do with his time than stop it completely, like run Virginia.

Well this was an awful idea. Comparing a transperson to the Hulk. Calling them by their previous name in the title. That's just hideous. I'm not even gonna watch it. The execution doesn't matter.

Ivan the Terrible vs. Alexander the Great.

Not gonna lie, this may be my favourite one yet this season...

Gonna hand this one to Fredrick, with Catherine as a close second. Pity they only referenced Peter but I guess he deserves his own battle.

I quite liked it.

Liked the callback to Stalin Vs Rasputin (Down to having Baryshnikov in the group of Russian leaders).

Glorious.

When I heard they were doing a battle in this style, I had no idea they'd theme it around how a bunch of the Great world leaders died in bizarre ways. It's pretty genius, maybe my new favorite battle.

It started out pretty okay, but it was a lot better once Fredrick the Great came in. He's the clear winner here.
