[up]If you can't see the difference there I'm not quite sure you're going to. Hitler wasn't rapping against Anne Frank. Or any of his other victims. Neither were any of the others you mentioned. Jefferson was rapping against a guy from a group he specifically exploited.

[up] I don't know, everyone with a bit of knowledge in history knows that Edison exploited Tesla and many other inventors for his own personal gain, but in his rap battle he never said "ok, sorry for all that shit. Friends, now?" I perfectly understand that in the case of the topic in question it was pratically impossible to make Jefferson a villain or to make him respond with a rebuttal without avoiding racism, but if Jefferson simply pointed what little he did about slavery without apologising, like "Hey, I did stuff for slaves", Douglass' second part would have been more cool with him demonstrating what kind of bigot Thomas is. But maybe it could have been better if they just put Douglass against Spartacus or some other freed slave.

[up] Edison's cheating of Tesla didn't result in Tesla being separated from his mom as a child, being repeatedly whipped to be kept in his place, traded around like mere goods, and denied the right to learn to read, the way the policy supported by Jefferson treated Douglass.

Like, not sure "But he cheated him out of monies and parents" is somehow equivalent to "slavery"

[up] Never doubted that, I just said that the battle's concept in itself was interesting but treated poorly. Like I posted earlier, Jefferson apologising was my main concern, especially the "you're free now, so... we cool?" part, I know that Thomas in real life was a dick, but that's just jerkass territory; I know we're supposed to root for Douglass, but was that line really necessary in order to do so?

I'm not getting the hate for Freddy D, I thought he was great. -shrug- to each their own.

Also, while we're still in revolutionary america, Hamilton the musical is fucking amazing. Rap album of the year and I am not joking here. this is the OG jefferson. The entire thing is on spotify

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

I think people miss the point, is just let them rap, others have issue dark issue from time to time, cesar made a coment of slavery against african who opose the British, clint coment about bruce and his sons and of course hitler and his holocaust jokes, instead here the rap just take nosedive so jefferson can half ass apologies and douglas win which can be done in better way.

or like the other said, just have him against spartacus

Point of order - Shaka DIDN'T fight the British. He was long dead at his brothers' hands when the British with the help of the Boer kicked the shit out of his nephew Cetshwayo kaMpande at the battle of Ulundi after initial Zulu success at Isandlwana (fuck you spell check, that's correct spelling!) was frittered away first at Rorke's Drift and then Kambula.

[up][up]And again, Caesar is not the one who enslaved the Zulu. This is really a very simple concept here. Jefferson is directly responsible for every bad thing that ever happened to Douglas. If they let him win, it comes off like they're okay with that.

This battle was a bad idea to start with, but complaining about Jefferson apologizing for slavery seems a little iffy to say the least.

[up] It's just that in a rap battle contest apologising is odd, even if of course with a touchy subject like slavery, especially in Thomas' position, there were not many other alternatives. But I agree with you that it wasn't a good idea for a rap battle to begin with.

[up][up]First, very few people actually win in rap battle, also I have to ask, this douglas was slave of jefferson because beside being part of the same system in oposite way the idea seen far off.

Also even in those case it have they have one rap being superior, just make Jefferson come as jerkass(and aparenly acording to some troper here, he really was) and Douglas beat him, it isnt the first battle where that happen(see freddy mercury vs Sinatra)

I was waiting for another Bond to show up.

Unfortunately I haven't watched any of the early Bonds so most of that went over me.

Needed a tad more Austin Powers, but damn if it wasn't still great.

Yeah, that wasn't even. That was one long round for New Bond on Powers and one long round for Powers on New Bond, a bridge for New Bond on Powers, and then Old Bond vs. New Bond with Powers getting one rhyme in.

References:Connery is Scottish and I can't recall if he bothered with an English accent at first or not, but by the end he really wasn't. However he was so iconic in the role Fleming retconned Bond to be half-Scottish and raised in Scotland. I'm not surprised he didn't do his own stunts to play Bond. While Connery starred in an adaptation of Thunderball with the official Eon Productions series, later somebody else had enough legal claim to the rights to the story that they went to Warner Bros. and WB made an unofficial Bond movie, casting Connery again, under the title Never Say Never Again, because Connery had already retired from playing Bond twice at that point and vowed not to play the character again.

Gonna hand this one to Craig, though Powers got in a few decent hits towards the end.

Needed more Powers. Also, at first I thought the other Bond was Agent 86, because I'm not that familiar with the series and the hat was silly. I think I'd award this one for Powers had he more lines, but since he didn't, I'm not so sure.

Well they at least used an actual Mt F transgender actor for Caitlin Jenner.

I'm gonna give the win to her, but I wish Hulk had rapped more, to be honest.

[up]

Yeah, the basic set-up for it was kinda dumb.

Oh my god... the Bias is so easy to see... and Hulk still won in my opinion anyway, despite only having about .10 seconds in the second half. It should have been Banner vs Jekyll and Hyde.
