Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

I'm not saying I want there to be a cutscene where it's revealed that Atlas gets funding and lobbying support from a one Senator Armstrong but...

"Call of Metal: Advanced Duty Gear Warfare: Solid"

There, fixed the title.

Because that's what this game sounds like it's going to end up as. And I think I approve.

Love COD. Looking forward to this year's release! Is anyone gonna pre-order?

I would but my ever decreasing game budget is already wrapped up for the year.

Definitely on my list to buy if I have any spare cash though

I am a Disciple of the Church of the Jimquisition - Praise Be To Jim Sterling. He in his Infinite Wisdom has convinced me that Pre-orders are a con-trick that gamers let publishers and shops pull on them and are anathema in His eyes.

So, no, I don't pre-order. Day one purchase MAYBE if it's a game I have been after for a while, otherwise I wait til its price drops and its been properly patched.

No pre-order from me. No day-1 either. Even though this looks promising and isn't being touched by Infinity Ward, after Ghosts, I'm firmly in the wait-and-see train.

In that story trailer, when the US general takes off his glasses, you could see the imprints left on the bridge of his nose. His cheeks seem to ripple a little when he says "approval" too.

I think I'm okay with this.

Yep. Never trust a trailer, remember? We as gamers learned that this year or was it last, with that bloody Aliens thing which Gearbox conned folks into buying.

That part of the trailer was CG though, so it probably won't suffer from an Aliens:CM situation.

Also, looking through the comments on Gamespot, people there are still convinced that, despite the new engine, changes to gameplay, and the longer development cycle, it's just gonna be the same as last year's. Highlights include:

"Now, 11 years after the first, they'll do something different?

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me every November since 2003, shame on me."

"Dear Developers,

didn't your parents teach you not to talk with feces in your mouth? You're getting all them feces on my keyboard, clean it up."

"What galls me, is how they're trotting out the SAME facial animation stuff that they did for Ghosts. If there are these massive sweeping changes to Co DAW, why aren't they talking about THEM, instead of yet more lines on the face and stubble on the chins of the burly white dudes the series always has? :-)"

Seems like nothing they do will convince people.

Yes, because being an entirely new studio, an entirely new plot, an entirely new engine, and more, automatically makes it the same thing.

Some are saying that they learned their lesson from the Ghosts pre-release, and they vow to not be fooled this time around.

Ignoring that Sledgehammer had nothing to do with that game. I swear, Gamespot commentators are the worst.

I actually liked Ghosts, too...

The sad part is that those suckers, despite their whining, are still going to end up buying the game in the long run. The absolutely massive numbers this series sells on every release (even Ghosts, despite its considerable flaws) don't lie. Either because their friends are playing it, the positive feedback once it's released, or the dumbest of all where they buy it out of some twisted principle to prove that it sucks to everyone else.

Though they'll also most likely just spam Metacritic with tons of bad reviews for no reason like they do with every COD or Battlefield game XD

Loved Ghosts. It's been the best COD in years since Black Ops 2.

Wasn't Ghosts released right after Black Ops 2?

At any rate I didn't like Ghosts. Second worst Call of Duty behind MW3 in my opinion.

The first Modern Warfare was nothing short of a masterpiece though.

I prefer MW 3 to Ghosts. At least MW 3 made me feel something.

It certainly helps that it was the ending of the original trilogy kicked off by COD 4. Oh, and don't forget about the good ol' Price and Soap, those two certainly helped make it memorable.

That may be true for a lot of people, but Call of Duty has been slowly declining from peak sales since Modern Warfare 3 (likely due to quality.) I for one almost always like to wait and see on these titles, and I passed on MW 3 and Black Ops 2. I bought Ghosts on a whim and that was a big mistake. Fortunately, I later bought Black Ops 2 for $12 and enjoyed it greatly. I'm definitely waiting on Advanced Warfare, and if it seems less-than-stellar, I won't buy it.

Where did you get that for $12?

goHastings during a half-off used games sale (was $25 normally) around this past December. I also got Resident Evil 6 for $6.

Seriously though at that point in the game's history, racial minorities should actually make up the majority of the game's characters especially hispanic characters. And there should be a lot more women in frontline combat roles by that time. Or at least the majority of the nameless Red Shirts that get cut down

It's just one of those things that makes any piece of fiction a bit stronger IMO.

On another note, cyborgs would be cool too. Like full on half-man, half-machine Dues Ex cyborgs.

Plus there was Foley in MW 2, and in addition to being voiced by Keith David he was a badass.
