Also I'd be happy to do some minor character interactions at the meal before having to work if everyone is up for that; I think it would do us well to get to know eachother's characters better before the fighting starts.
If you want to just depart, then feel free but I think it's early for a time skip. Maybe going off to start early would be a good thing if you want to emphasize that he's too proud to join the party or at least is more focused on working.
