Thaaat's Deppist. *ding*
Haha. But his Willy Wonka was pretty damn awful, though. Especially compared to Gene Wilder.
Optimism is a duty.Nah, there's a lot more wrong than just Depp's creepy performance here.
It's been 3000 years…Christopher lee is the best part of that film
New theme music also a boxWhen is that ever not the case?
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Oh, I'm sure, but Depp's performance was what stuck out the most to me.
Optimism is a duty.Honestly, that movie is a guilty please for me. I really enjoyed the music, more so because it was the actual lyrics from the book (I know that doesn't matter to some people, but it just does something for me). I just don't dislike it as much as most people do.
Yeah, I recall watching it when it came out and I just didn't think badly of it.
Was this version actually way more faithful to the book? Cause it's definitely not better for it.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Go to 9:18 where he covers this version.
Answer is "yes and no". It's generally closer (with a dose of "Actioning things up" for a modern audience and re-working the kids to fit a modern audience) until you reach the part about Wonka's backstory, which is not from the book at all. Oh, and Wonka himself.

Its been a long time since I've read it, but I think it was. The Nostalgia Critic also did a video on the two films once, maybe he mentioned it in there.
Optimism is a duty.Wakanda forever!
Was not expecting a sin removal for “What are those”.
Aww, Tron Legacy is perfect and has no sins! ...
No, couldn't keep a straight face.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hotel Transylvania
Jeremy's not a fan.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I'm not too terribly surprised that he doesn't like it. I wish it could have gotten a sin off for the animation though.
It's been 3000 years…Nowhere at any point of the video does he ever mention Genndy. Though we know by now that he usually doesn't care about how animation is made and the drama behind a movie. He's a marketing guy, not an animation guy.

At least he admits the animation is good.

Unfriended
Ooo, I like that movie.
It gets a pass on my thing about horror movies being garbage if they end in the monster winning, because the laptop-screen dynamic for filming was a really clever and innovative twist on the Found Footage genre.
