Another game from Arcen, who bring us AI War Fleet Command!

So anyone get to play this yet?

Give me cute or give me...something?

This game raises a question... Why there are so many scifi/fantasy settings that lack humans considering that quite a lot of them don't even have much of graphics to show them? :P In space games where you don't animate ground troops its not really that hard to have cast of weird aliens without humans, and yet it seems that devs other assume that games just need to have humans.. In this game you play as fricking space hydra. Why are there so few games like that?

So, bringing some life into this, how many have played this so far? Also, we have a page for it now: The Last Federation

It's quite interesting game. It's kinda a raising sim, while not being one. I kinda like the Peltians, they are just... I don't know, I just feel bad for them all the time.

Again, I have said this many many times and it needs to be said again: Besides suicide bombings, peltians' ultimate weapons building(every race seems to have one, acutians' one drops economy of enemy planets constantly every month.) drops fricking asteroids on planets.

And arcen is rather fast with patching and listens arcen forum users a lot. They even addressed some things TB said. Just check the patch notes, they even acknowledge who inspired the changes. It feels really weird to see this fast patching and this direct "Let's listen community" stuff ._.

But yeah, I like this game a lot, but checking patch notes... Yeaaaaaaaah, this game is about to get even harder xP Just Burlust Turmoil is really darn bad. I'd say its because release version of game was still hard, but had MANY many exploits and now they are taking steps to erasing those exploits making the game even harder... Now farming burlust warlords isn't a thing anymore

Wow " Previously, the Peltians had an invisible 100x multiplier to their orbital bombardment strength."

Okay, I know computer states they have knack for orbital bombing, but I never realized they were that much better at it ._.;

AFAIK lore wise they load up their ground troops on a suicide pods that they drop on their enemies... alongside their troops.

I kinda hope they add more planets to the system, right now, it's far too easy for one species to get singled out and murdered. Best I got was 4 species (Evucks, Skylaxians, Peltians and Andorians). Having all 7 united is very hard, due to nature of other three.

Yeah, I know, I just thought that suicide bombing was flavor text, I didn't realize it meant they had much better orbital bombing stats than other races <_<

i wonder what all ultimate weapon buildings are anyway. Like I said, peltians have "Peltian Asteroid Perturber", acutians have that thing which causes economy to crash(Acutian Stock Launchpad? Acutian something launchpad was name but I forgot middle one..), I assume rest of the races also have high tech level 180 months buildings as well all probably starting with race name...

I've been playing it for a while and I love it. So far, the main thing that bugs me is defending planets you really like - for some reason there's no option to petition other races to defend their allies (there really ought to be), and you don't always have the option to "defend against overwhelming odds" and such.

Plus, the mechanics of getting planets to make fleets is something I'm having fun trying to figure out. I've had several races just up and stop making units early in the game, with none of my attempts working. I figure it's some combination of both tech, population and positive trends, but figuring it out is what this game is all about, isn't it?

You should suggest that in the forums. Devs have added a ton of stuff brought up by players including stuff like "Why we can't do this thing that makes sense?" type of things. Heck, during last hour patch notes got longer because in that time someone made a forum post and dev responded to it.

Really, I'm also wondering why allies don't really help each other <_<

Species diplomacy seems to be very limited really. It's basically just "Do we have Resource X? If no, does Race Y have it? If yes, trade." and "War. Cause War."

^^ Which forums, the Steam forums? Or do they have their own website?

^ Andor has a lot more options, but you have to wait to get access to them if you don't already have them and if they're the ones in trouble there's really no point to it.

And yeah, Andor's options are interesting...though you have to get the right party to rule...

Someone made a chart on new attitude changing building. And lol, burlust love chocolate while evucks are... Paranoid of poisoning I guess?

Well, they are noted to be paranoid to a fault. Try to help them... and they get angry at you for daring intervene with their matters, even if it's saving their asses...

@Known: Huh, according to dev post in thread you made over there, it is supposed to be in game but it doesn't seem to be working correctly

Huh, its almost suprising how much better game experience is when you know reasons for race starting a war or why you can't tell race to attack another race :P Yay for devs patching in clarity of why you can't do crap and why races do crap!

Nowadays we also have clearer tooltips on ground combat, bombartment, whatever the hell armada is doing... Like I said, knowing these things improves the experience a lot.

Anyway asked on forums about ultimate weapon building and thats the answer I got. Seems like everyone but andors have one, though he forgot to mention what thoraxians have. Apparently requirement is that certain year has passed and race hates another race enough

So peltians have asteroid perturber, acutians crash economy, evucs cause civil war, burlast cause everyone to become mad with rage and go to war with everyone, boarines just have big ass shield and skylaxians start practicing mind control...

Also, I have had so far Union of Indepent States, Solar Axis Pact, Fear Empire, Trifecta of Superioty and I've heard how Thoraxian Proctarate is formed, but I still have no idea how The Betrayed are formed. So yeah, anyone knows how?

Not really. I got UIS once, but other factions... not really. I guess I should just have the observe mode run to see how the solar system goes without me constantly poking around.

#20: May 6th 2014 at 9:07:09 PM

Oh, wait, I did get Smuggler Empire once in observe mode... Apparently amount of smugglers need to be 100+ and race to have more than one planet.

Trifecta of superioty happens if federation is only composed of three evil races aka acutians, burlust and thoraxians.

Solar axis pact is rather common so I'm surprised you haven't seen it, but fear empire happens mostly when you mess up and make a race too powerful. Thoraxian proctorate apparently happens if federation is formed and thoraxians have more than one planet.

Anyway, latest patch notes

Well, I just ran an observer mode, it ended with Skylaxians and Acutians in Solar Axis Pact, against Evucks... who keep constantly joining and leaving the said pact. None can really threaten each others.

I think reason why I haven't seen SAP before s because I tend to work to make sure no species achieves dominances... at least until I got federation up, at which point unless I can convince the opposition to join, I kill them off.

Someone checked the language files for ingame text and these are all anti federation alliances and how to form them.

Seems like Smuggler Empire is only one without achievement so I guess thats an oversight. Anyway, I'm gonna check those files myself for info on ultimate weapons :3

Aaaaaaaand I still don't know what the hell triggers Ultimate Weapons, but... Holy shit. Here they are...

Peltian Asteroid Perturber: Unique Peltian ultimate weapon. Every 30 to 90 months, causes an asteroid to rapidly change trajectory and fly at another race's planet or outpost. The effects on planets are devastating, ripping through defense armadas as well as killing massive numbers of the populace.

Evucks Psyops Broadcast Tower [race]: Unique Evuck ultimate weapon. Causes the [race] to descend into a state of perpetual internal war, tearing themselves apart until the tower itself is destroyed.

Burlust Psyops Virus Development Center: Unique Burlust ultimate weapon. Causes ALL races in the entire solar system to go absolutely crazy with bloodlust, and be locked in the Warlike stance until the virus center is destroyed. Being in a warlike stance doesn't mean that a race will immediately be at war with everyone, but it does make conflict overwhelmingly likely and frequent.

Skylaxian Cyberwarfare Facility: Unique Skylaxian ultimate weapon. Emits an advanced self-replicating worm that causes all non-allied robotic races to descend into a state of perpetual internal war. The worm depends on the cyberwarfare facility for continual evolution, however, so if the facility is destroyed then the robots will recover.

Thoraxian Search And Destroy Command Center: Unique Thoraxian ultimate weapon. Every 30 to 90 months, launches a powerful Thoraxian Hunter Fleet, which seeks out and destroys pirate bases... and then you, personally.

Acutian Industrial Sabotage Launchpad: Unique Acutian ultimate fiscal weapon. Every month, the Economy for every non-allied race drops by 1. Perpetually, unless the launchpad is destroyed.

Boarine Isolation Shield: Unique Boarine ultimate defense system. And absolutely impenetrable, invisible shield encircles the entire planet, protecting the planet's surface from all attacks — ground attacks, bombings, you name it. Does not protect Boarine space armadas, however, since they are outside the shield.

._. Interesting that Skylaxian one only targets robots. Boarine one sounds invincible and Thoraxian ones sounds "Holy shit" for player xP I guess Thoraxian one only pops up if they hate the player?

Most likely. I should play game where I intentionally keep thing going on forever. Skylaxian superweapon seems... pointless, since it can only target two species: Acutians and Andor.

Or do a challenge run and try to convince everyone to join the federation.

Yeah, skylaxian one is really situational <_< And I wonder why androns don't have one since boarines show it doesn't need to be offensive building...

I find it hilarious how Peltian one is only conventional "weapon" while others are more form of mind control or not even aimed at other planets tongue They sure are destroyers of the worlds...
