We had a thread. It was on on-topic and it was killed.
Ah, that explains why I couldn't find it. What happened exactly?
Oh really when?Pinged you a pm on what I think happened. I could be wrong and I don't want to start any fights with those who had a different view.
Any word on when the next series starts?
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodMaybe their wishful thinking during the last series had some truth in it, so June? If not, then probably October. And perhaps another Christmas special with Easter being closer to it (again). LOL
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.I'm going to bump this because Top Gear is back and I still haven't watched them. LOLOLOLOL
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over. Finally able to watch the Patagonia Special, and it made me realize that Argentina is the China of South America, in terms of claiming territory that isn't theirs. Although at least, AFAIK, there aren't any paid commenters from their country when a Falklands article crops up somewhere; but admittedly it's a bit worse, as that means they are aware of what they are actually posting and not just doing it to get paid.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Watched most of the special. The bit which had the most impact on me was when Jeremy Clarkson explained exactly why he loved the Porsche 928 so much. It was the only reason why he got to be able to say goodbye to his father when the man was taken seriously ill and ended up dying. The thing was a rocket ship, basically, in terms of his speed. He drove from London to Sheffield in one, and arrived at the hospital just in time.
That got me right in the feels. I never got the chance to say goodbye to my dad.
The special doesn't air here for another week but I've seen that clip floating around. That made me really sad too.
Oh really when?Well...having heard all the rumblings back in December when that story broke I must admit I was surprised at how much they kept in the show. The part with Clarkson talking about his father's passing was hard but the part that stuck with me was when he passed that sign proclaiming the Falklands belonged to Argentina and he didn't take the piss out of it.
But this was exactly like knowing the train is going to wreck and then you get to watch it happen in slow motion.
Patagonia special aired last night here in the US. The first part at least.
I really envy the Top Gear team, the locations they get to visit are just so fucking beautiful.
Also holy shit that Lotus.
Oh really when? They should make an entire episode like that. It would be awesome.
Apparently it's James May's birthday today
Oh really when?I really don't like cars. I don't like driving, I don't get the obsession with them, or the Real Men Worship Cars view society has. My car is a needlessly expensive and very critical tool, not "my baby" to be pampered.
I really enjoy Top Gear. Mostly it's for the really weird cars they look at, like that tiny thing Jeremy drove into the BBC office. Or that weird three-wheeled thing. I do also like their races and other weird games they play. And the places they go...like the humorless United States.
When they actually get into "reviewing" a car...I just kind of sit there and nod at it. I can appreciate high-quality and thoughtful design, "This is a well-made and high-performance car", if I don't get excited over it, "YES! TEN THOUSAND HORSEPOWER! TECHNOBABBLE HUB CAPS AND APPLIEDPHLEBOTINUM SPARK PLUGS! IT CAN DO 235MPH IN A SCHOOL ZONE!"

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984New series this weekend, assuming the BBC doesn't have another Guardianista sense of humour failure.

The ads say the new season will air next monday on BBC America as is custom here. Monday is Top Gear day.
And I used to not be a car person and I watched Top Gear more to see the boys do ridiculous stupid and hilarious things but after a while I turned into a car person.
Oh really when?New series' first episode aired tonight on BBC 2. Quite good. Richard Hammond seriously dislikes the new Lamborghini, the Huracan, for reasons that escape me. His main bug-bear? Lambo have came up with a car that might sell a lot of units and be profitable for Audi, the owners of the Italian marque.
???????
Because they were apparently sacrificing what made them unique as a marque in order to shift units.
Also noticed all three of them wearing Chilean flag pins throughout the studio bits. I'm guessing something to do with what went down in South America? (I missed the special)
"Yup. That tasted purple."The new episode just started airing here in the US.
Of course it'd be the Russians to build a damn Hovervan. And of course they'd build it with parts from a Lada.
Also the Stig is just precious.
Oh really when?Did you see the poor thing pining for that Porsche 911 GT 3 RS? All that stood between him and it was that pesky wire fence.
"Yup. That tasted purple."
I kind of agree with Hammond about the Huracan. It looked like a "generic" supercar, nothing that really stood out.
Not that I'd say no to having one, mind.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Count me in for the new Lambo is eh crowd.
Oh really when?
Found it odd we don't have a thread for the world's largest motoring show. Oh well. It's my favorite show and I just had to fix that
Feel free to talk about Top Gear here, any of them.
Oh really when?
