Reading the summary... I Actually prefer the anime's ending, a cool final battle is neat, but I like the more realistic battles in the show that weren't very "power levels" most of the time. The only way to beat Gaz (who took several heroes to kill includng a dragoon) is just have a really really big gun and hope for the best rather than an RPG esque final battle.

So the Chaika OVA had Toru and pals doing battle with the Gilette corps and Chaika Red sometime before Season 1's endgame. With hilarious results.

Theater and ruins shenanigans, Chaika becoming Chaimannen, arguments while dancing in mire, head-splitting, traps, burning, and Toru not giving a crap about history.

All good fun.^_^

Oh, right, there was an OVA about this.

OVA. In which there's dressing up and dressing down.

How convenient for them to manage to narrow it down to one building.

Is there ever a plot taking place at a theatre without them entering the stage and faking some ridiculous act? Either to escape, or just being forced, mistaken for actors.

That coffin is going to be part of the play.

Good nose.

That's not actually how theatre people react to people of the opposite sex entering. Mostly there's about no reaction, especially if they're in a hurry, which they often are.

Didn't see that coming. Oh, wait, I just wrote about that.

Nice outfit. Could use some work on the voice. But that just makes it funny.

Is he expecting his sister to be reasonable for once?

At least Fredrica's more reasonable and upfront about her opinion.

Hey look, she has pants. That's a first.

I wonder why they're letting him speak, rather than the actual girls with their girly voices speaking. Well, from a Doylist perspective I understand, but from a Watsonian, it makes less sense.

Yeah, actors play along.

That laugh. [lol]

They actually reflect on the property damage. That's nice.

Equal opportunity fanservice. Probably won't remain like that.

Yeah, can't get her to do something if it's convenient for the plot if she doesn't do anything, whether it be by having her refuse to help or killing her off yet again.

I like that how they fall doesn't match up with the groups they end up in.

She kind of deserved that.

That makes them let go?

He definitely deserved that. Good work, Vivi!

So, how would removing the dress remove the footprints?

Replay.

I have the sudden urge to listen to this. No idea why.

She should not complain about being left out of the fighting.

It takes some strength to remain in that position.

These are not the remains you're looking for.

It's funnier the second time around.

I decided to spoiler-text all I predicted that actually happened. Don't want to spoil stuff even if it's something I thought of before it happened.

I laughed at the running gag for the OVA. "Chaika feels sorry for (burning up location)." "Who cares?"

Quite the low entry level for Running Gag, methinks. Then again, I've frequently seen Catchphrase being applied to stuff they've said once.

Chaika being an architectural menace should happen a lot more often. Like every episode for example.

Picked up, read and reviewed the first volume of the manga adaptation. I wasn't happy.

Skimming the thread it appears the anime didn't have nearly as much incest humor?

No, Akari did this. All. The. Time. In the anime. However it's always played for laughs because she's just so deadpan about it.

She was also portrayed as wrong and weird for it.

I just don't like incest humor. sad And the person who recommended the series to me had forgotten to mention it.

Also, Akari is explicitly mentioned to be Tooru's ADOPTED sister — the Acuras are mercenaries, and adopt orphans as a matter of course. For example neither Tooru or Akari are related blood-wise to another Acura introduced later on (Shinn).

And yes, the series treats Akari's situation as inherently wrong and as something to be laughed at because of how deviant it is.

The jokes isn't "Incest yay!" the joke is "Akari is crazy" which she is.

First volume of the manga neglects to mention the "adopted" part, which is why my review says "I'm sure it will turn out that they're not blood-related or it's her idea of a hilarious running joke".

And just because the light novel/anime/manga has her treated as "weird" or "wrong" for it doesn't make it feel justified as humor to me. It's a matter of personal taste.

She literally wants to stuff and mount her brother in a display cabinet. I know anime has a habit of pandering to incest fans, but I think we can agree that that's supposed to be kind of fucked up.

What's precedent ever done for us?
