The problem is that Genre Motif examples are essentially = genre.

Hello, I'm new here. My question would be how the Genre Motif category is intended to be used in the Wiki. It seems like it's meant for people to think about how that particular genre of music is being used to advance a story, but in practice it seems like a catalog of "what's in these kinds of songs" (the Hip Hop entry is like that).

The subpage GenreMotif.Hip Hop is causing several problems.
First, it's the page where Main.Hip Hop redirect, hence it is used as the de-facto music trope page (i.e. music genre) for Hip Hop. Those pages are considered tropes, and thus should be in Main/, not in a namespace.
The GenreMotif/ namespace is used for subpages of the Genre Motif trope. (They were wrongly tagged as "tropes" instead of "subpage", but I've started correcting that. The content of this page, however, has little to do with Genre Motif, except maybe the examples list (and even I'm not too sure).
It's mostly a supertrope for Hip Hop subgenre, which should definitively be in Main/
It also includes a list of tropes common to Hip Hop — which, since musical genres are tropes themselves, shouldn't be there at all.
So, I think a split should be in order, most of the content going in Main.Hip Hop, I'm just not too sure exactly of what go where.
