Set of promotional photos for 304, on Spoiler TV. One of the photos is of Lexa during the duel, and she is clearly bleeding from the nose and mouth. Her blood is black, and one of the production crew confirmed on twitter that it is not a trick of the light: her blood is literally pitch black.

Hmm, that makes me wonder if Lexa's full title "Commander of the Blood" is more literal than I thought at first.

Jason Rothenberg has said that one of the themes of the season is what it means to be human; I'm guessing this is gonna play into it somehow.

Is there a trope where almost literally everybody changes allegiance every five minutes? If so this show may be the Most Triumphant Example of it.

Was not expecting the Ice Queen to go out like that.

Awesome fight, though.

You know what made the last episode hilarious?

All the people in the Shannara Chronicles's tags who said "At least we still have Clexa"

evil grin

I am seeing lot of "This reminds me of Tara Mclay, and not in a good way" from the more queer corners of the internet. Technically, I'm not sure she's actually dead - I mean, it seems pretty clear that at a minimum she's the Avatar. But that's still mostly dead, because she's not going to just wipe the personality of whoever is next unless they are a complete asshat, and either way, no Alycia.

I'm holding out for her making at least one more appearance in Alie 2.0's version of the City of Light. I'm also holding out hope we get to see more of Becca.

And having been part of the Buffy fandom back in Season 6, as soon as I got over the shock of what happened, my first thought was, "People are gonna be pissed."

While admitting that there are disturbing Sex Equals Death anc Bury Your Gays implications I think it's more a case of Clarke's Cartwright Curse. Wells, loved her and died, Finn loved her perhaps a bit too much and died by her hand no less and now Lexa.

[up]

That's what happened to the people Lexa loved, too.

I wonder if this is not a coincidence at all, but foreshadowing: maybe Clarke will become the next Avat... Commander, gaining a few levels in emotional detachment and ruthlessness in the process, for the very same reasons why Lexa herself, before meeting Clarke, had become an emotionally detached and ruthless leader.

I don't think any love interest of a main character is safe on this show. Gina, Maya, Finn, Atom, Abby's husband, that girl who was part of Bellamy's harem . . .

The only one who's managed to last has been Lincoln, and since Ricky Whittle has gotten a job on a different series . . .

That said, I do desperately want a scene where Clarke's mind communicates with the AI and the spirits of the past Commanders. Both so we can see more Lexa and so we can see more of Becca, too. Though given how The 100 likes to Trash the Set each season (crashing the Ark, burning down the 100's camp, annihilating Mount Weather), I'm guessing the City of Light won't survive to Season 4.

I think it extremely likely that the commander chip will make it's way into Clarke at some point. It also occurs to me that this show really is coasting very much on it's casting director and the writers ability to do character creation - It murders characters left and right, but seems to have an endless supply of new talent. The world building makes me want to cry on a regular basis, but.. it's easy to overlook the gaps because the people are mostly compelling

I think I hit Eight Deadly Words with this series. I'm having the new ep on a flash drive in the TV and I can't find the motivation to switch from late night 2 and a half men reruns toward it.

Its not like I'm not interested in the plot anymore, its the characters I don't care anymore. Arcadia is ruled by a Human shaped Conflict Ball, the Grounders lost the character with arguably the most interesting pull and...eh in general :/

Soooo I ended up watching up to ep 10 of Season 3 of this show. Mainly because a female coworker of mine is a massive fan of this show and this was my gateway into talking to her.

Didn't quite work. Now I'm in a position of "keep watching this with her whenever I can and just accept the boundaries of friendship until we finish this" or "don't watch it and think about her obsessively every time I see this show." I choose the former.

I went through 4 pages of Live Action TV curious if this show even had a thread. She told me that this show had a fanbase on reddit that wasn't too happy with the "science" of the show. Which I suspect might be why this thread is 3 years old.

And it didn't take long to figure why. I don't know much about explosives but the hydrazine bomb they used on that bridge seemed a little iffy. Bellamy making his way out of that vent in Mount Weather after causing the toxic gas generator to explode, completely unscathed despite being covered in CGI flames as he leapt out of it. Even the main characters point out how needlessly cruel Mount Weather's bone marrow plan is.

I think of this show like a good mixture of LOST (castaways thrown into a dangerous remote location) and Battlestar Galactica (post apocalyptic society threatened by ancient machines). Despite my motivations for watching it I've taken a liking to it.

Bellamy is (or was) my favorite character with Roan and Kane as close seconds.

Jaha and Murphy have had the most interesting character arcs thus far.

Lexa's death saddens me.

Yeah, Octavia is pretty much my number one favorite of the cast, but Bellamy's a close second and Kane's really cool too. They're both interesting because they were basically the villains when the show started, but the complexity of the political situations the show explores brought out their Hidden Depths.

I like Octavia's character development more than Clarke's. She spends time with Trikru, trains, and is actively seen improving.

Clarke goes from a novice, good-hearted hero in Season 1 to being (rightfully) paranoid and hardcore, and at one point even getting ready to shank someone with a shoe heel, in Season 2. Then in Season 3 she's learned a new language and is apparently an experienced hunter.

Yeah, Clarke pinballs around a bit. Sometimes she's great, other times not so much. A lot of characters tend to pinball between being a Team Player or a Renegade depending on the arc, sometimes on the episode, as the Conflict Ball and the Diplomacy Stick get passed from person to person on a constant basis.

Clarke and Bellamy are both at their strongest when they're in the Team Leader role and at their weakest when they're being Renegades or even just taking orders from someone else. But Bellamy at least has his sister as a sympathetic, well-established, and relatable reason for going Renegade from time to time; when Clarke does it, it's usually just obnoxious.

Octavia is the best because of her Trikru bits. I love the premise of Octavia as an Honorary Trikru within Skaikru, because it really fits her character. She is technically of Skaikru but she found a home with Trikru because, really, it's not like she was ever actually accepted as Skaikru. In the midst of delicate relationship-forging between civilizations, Octavia's a societal orphan with nebulous connections to "Us", adopted by "Them".

Well this is a thing.

(My courtship didn't work out and watching this show depresses me, but in for a penny, and I'd rather have it out of my life then get flashbacks every time I see it - plus the show's had an interesting direction thus far)
