Pretty much my sentiments exactly, the only thing I believe this film will be remembered for is how disturbing clickers and bloaters would look in real life.
Hoping Josh Brolin tries to audition for Joel.

Raimi said the game studio had final say on casting and directing, so I'd say he's letting them protect their vision. Given that their writer is doing the movie script, this probably isn't going to be like Spiderman or Oz the Great and Powerful.
For the source, it's at the end of the announcement on the Stark girl talking about playing Ellie.
If that means no Raimi Cringe Comedy, that's a plus.

I am so totally in favor of Maisie Williams playing Ellie. She's got the perfect amount of sass.
"Urge to thump... rising." -FighteerI honestly can't think of better a better casting call. I'm not sold on the project, but it seems the casting director is quite good.
Wonder who is going to play Joel.
Ignore, wrong thread

For some reason British Ellie immediately makes my brain jump to Liam Neeson. He can do gruff and world weary, he's a name actor they can put on a poster. Gary Oldman also springs to mind, especially since I just saw him in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (damn that's a long title).
Liam Neeson would be a good choice; maybe Christian Bale
So what length do you guys think the movie will be?
Two to two and a half hours. The blockbuster standard.
Looking for some stories? This seems like it'll be in the 2 - 2 1/2, possibly 3 hour range. It needs to be a good length to cover a good amount of the game's plot.
Seems... Redundant.
Umm did anyone else read that as ass?

I don't have high hopes for this. The Last of Us is already a whole lot like your typical zombie/nuclear war apocalypse movie, most notably Will Smith's I Am Legend. The imagery of the city being overrun by plant life, wild animals running amok, humanity trying to research a cure, zombie creatures hiding in the old parts of the city while the survivors try to live in the countryside - it's all from that movie. Oh and perhaps a bit from The Road for how bleak the world is.
What The Last of Us did which made it special is that it brought that plot and it's world into a videogame format, was well written, and fun to play. The movie won't have those advantages. So why bother making the format change?
