Alright, I don't know where to put this but in the Bartimaeus trilogy, I figured out it was Makepeace was the big bad guy in book two. Two things pointed to him: he met Kitty in a theater AND his voice kept changing pitch, suggesting he was excitable and an able actor. What trope would this fall under?
