The difficulty spikes after each tier, so you should be prepared to grind a little. Just not so much that you outlevel the boss— it's a delicate balance. Recruiting new first-level characters is good practice, though, and if you haven't tried out all the classes yet, you might find some of more unusual ones offer up the perfect solution for an encounter you've had trouble with.
Experiment with different parties, power sets, and ranks, too. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed parties who could change ranks and access different powers at will until Champion tier. (I love the Jester.)

Abandoning quests just before you complete them is a very good way to grind money without overleveling the bosses. You need a party with the best equipment and skills available for their level, to be able to challenge bosses without risking TPK with just one bad "dice roll".
I lost my Houndmaster with Tough and Natural locked in to the Formless Flesh while everyone was full level and equipment and trinket and best composition and junk for the fight ;_;

The game's getting a new update in the form of the Radiant update, which is a shorter version of the actual game. We're also getting new enemies in the Champion ranks of each area. The Bone Bearer's the first one, and it appears to be a buffer.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Huh, I wonder where the Bearer stays. A Crusader (or heaven forbid, two of them) in the front already is currently mostly all you need in the Ruins anyway, but them being in the back would really mess with that.
"In addition, we’ve also noticed some of Vvulf’s raiders have slipped out, mingling amongst the bandit ranks in the champion-level regions."
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-them Brigand Hunters make the Drummers look like a relaxing concerto.
Jesus Christ how stressful

Seems like the Radiant Update being worked on will push "The Crimson Court" back a bit. Seems like that DLC will be done around April or so, by the developers' estimates.
Looking forward to seeing what new enemies are added to the game. Also hoping that we'll get some previews on the bosses for "The Crimson Court."
That sounds dirty.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Radiant mode, NG+ made harder, 2 new town events, more variable dungeon maps, economy rebalanced, some harder monsters, and even a QoL change. (Hold Shift to purchase a full stack of a provision)
Do all the updates apply to save games in progress?
As far as I know. I don't think I've ever ready something in the notes that says it won't apply to old saves.
Awesome! That means I get to continue where I left off.
I know I'm likely not going to be doing Radiant Mode or anything like that anytime soon but I'm wondering if I should restart.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The journey of a thousand stress damage begins with by stepping in here (Er, that is, these are an upcoming feature in that your parties will start their quests on these screens rather than just a featureless starting room)

Well, that makes going into the Warrens feel a little more badass.
Oh boy. It really does make it more intimidating.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Man, I am such a stalemate in the game. Lost a bunch of heroes and now I'm just not sure what to do. Have bosses I haven't killed and just not sure if I can handle them, have three level fours, one level three, and basically everyone else is level one. Just hit my first year and I still need to kill the Swine Prince, Siren, etc.
Any advice on developing my characters? Obviously plus or minus quirks, when should I be buying new skills and equipment for a character?

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I would imagine just work them through the Guild and the Blacksmith in between missions, along with the Sanitarium to make them lose afflictions and stuff.
Anyway, hope that Crimson Court DLC comes out soon.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Looks like the Grave Robber (of course, she would), Highwayman and Bounty Hunter are liking the court's... drafts (speaking of which, it is super-weird seeing the later two's mouths and chins. I couldn't figure out who the Highwayman was until I noticed the pistol and coat lying around).
Hm, I wonder if they're considering messing with the disease system itself some more if there's gonna be some kind of affliction caused by fighting the Crimson Court monsters. Wonder what becoming full-on vampires will entail of to your heroes.
GIEB NEW CLASS NAO
Probably just only typed out by Tyler Sigman while he was having a really bad day.
So new class, new area, new hazards, new enemies...This is gonna be good.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I'm gonna guess being a vampire will incur some sort of penalties to the Hamlet if you leave afflicted heroes behind, or while camping if you take them with you.
What will the new class be, I wonder? Someone with bonuses for getting vampirized? Someone immune? I'm hoping for another class to embrace the night along with the Hellion, Occultist, and Abomination. Really cavort with the forces of darkness if we can.
Yeah, the progressive levels will demand stricter party combinations, like Houndmaster being good in Warrens or Plague Doctor in Cove. Debuffs will also generally become more useful for your party as there will be miniboss enemies far harder than the Brigand Bloodletter that will make for full use of their durations.
