Anyone reading this? Apparently the first issue sold out twice. Issue 3 is coming next week.

I've been skimming it. If it weren't for the fact that Archie is publishing it themselves, I'd see it as a dark parody.

Love the artist, since his backups on Detective Comics a few years ago. But I wonder why it's been apparently delayed?

[up] That's the weird thing—it's NOT a parody!

I am SHOCKED that there isn't a nightmare fuel page for it yet. XD

I saw it mentioned on a "most underrated currently running" list. I'm no longer a fan, but I read a lot of Archie as a kid so I might check it out.

I'm really loving this series so far. It's really interesting how fucked up Archie can make their usually ideal universe.

So are Hilda & Zelda Eldrich Abominations in human form, or just truly ugly, uncaring uber-witches?

[up] They looked normal before they got angry, so maybe that was their true form?

It's good so far, but looks like a concept that should become a one trick pony very soon, especially if they keep killing the Archie standbys at this rate. Unlike Marvel Zombies, the Archieverse doesn't have the huge playground of a superhero universe (and the usual alternate wildly varying dimensions), so I doubt this will have fuel to go for long before becoming 'the Walking Dead with some remaining Archie characters'.

Well, this is only a 5 issue miniseries. It's not going to last very long.

[up] " This success has led what was originally to be a limited series to continue as a monthly title."

? Where is this announcement? I've always heard it as a five issue mini.

...But that doesn't mean it's true, there is no link to an outside ariticle to confirm it. And unless I've severely overlooked something on Google, I haven't seen any such article.

[up] Variety says it's an ongoign series.

http://variety.com/2013/biz/news/why-comic-book-kid-archie-needs-to-get-bloody-1200855717/

“Afterlife” is set to be an ongoing series, according to both the publisher and writer, and the first year of storylines has been mapped out. Whether “Afterlife” has one of its own remains to be seen, but its mere existence speaks to the gambles comic-book publishers may have to consider as popular tastes continue to evolve.
