I remember a mod named "Better Morrowind", but afaik it was a French mod. It included new creatures, new loots, new spells and alchemical recipes, balancing weapons and adding new ones (including some well-hidden legendary ones), more diverse guards in general, new adventurer NPC, more Dark Brotherhood assassins... it became a must-have.
Especially for the new guards and creatures. Killing a Grand Ordinator became a chore, and it was common to get one-shot by some monsters at level 30+.
It's here if you want to check but I have no idea how it would work on a non-French game. You could probably end up with a bunch of monsters and weapons with French sounding names, in the best case.
I don't think the Morrowind Overhaul Project does anything too extreme.
I should also note, although I doubt that any (sane, reasonable) mods will choke my PC, just for the record, I'm running an FX-6300 (no OC), 8GB of RAM, and a Radeon HD 7790 2GB 1050MHz.
2 I'm canadian and understand basic french, I was able to read about 80% of that page you linked to. That said, it would probably be a bit jarring to have a bunch of french stuff randomly in the game. There doesn't happen to be any english translation available?
I also checked the list of highly recommended mods. It seems that a lot of these are included in Overhaul (which they damn well better be at 1.7GB), but some others also sound interesting, in particular: Official Mods Compilation, Morrowind Comes Alive, and The Undead. Are these recommended and compatible (and not mutually redundant) with Overhaul and each other? (There are also a few minor usability mods that I might be interested in but it seems unlikely those would be incompatible with anything else here.)
Join my forum game!I think I played Morrowind about ten years ago, I have no idea about the current state of the mods. But it is very possible that other mods do similar things: the three "Immersive" in Skyrim would lead to a similar result (Armors, Weapons and especially Creatures - this one is absolutely amazing).
Okay, so I installed Overhaul and a few other mods, then started up the game. But now I get a message 'unable to find region blah blah blah in load for cell blah blah blah'. I take it this is a problem? How would I fix it?
Also, while I was copying over some of the other mods (not Overhaul), I got a lot of messages saying 'do you wish to overwrite this file'. For the most part the file that came with the mod would be smaller than the one already there, or exactly the same size but older, so I clicked to skip them all. Would that cause any problems, particularly the problem mentioned above? If so, then how on God's green Earth am I supposed to tell which of several hundred files I'm supposed to replace and which ones not to?
EDIT: I managed to get past the 'unable to find region' error message by disabling one of the mod files I'd downloaded, which may have been meant specifically for use with Tamriel Rebuilt. It's too late tonight for me to try playing the game, but I seem to load all the way through to the main menu, at least.

Join my forum game!Mod combining is always risky business with Elder Scrolls games. A lot of modders don't take into account other mods affecting similar or the same areas their mod affects so as a result, a ton of conflicts can appear and may make the game unplayable. Sifting through all that crap is a pain.
You really need to go looking for sites that curate Morrowind mods and how to install them, or you will end up tearing your hair out trying to do it yourself.
Well, I got all these files from NexusMods, and Overhaul came with a tool called MLOX that can supposedly detect many compatibility issues. So that's gotta be better than nothing.
Join my forum game! So, uh, about this Overhaul project. Where can I find the most relevant download location? I'm assuming Nexusmods? Also, is it going to run on Intel HD Graphics 3000?

Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.Morrowind Overhaul for sound and graphics is here:
http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36945/?
I have no idea how it runs on your built-in Intel graphics thingy, but you may be able to run it on low or medium settings. I've never used it so that really should be "I have no idea how it runs at all."
Aha, thanks. Since it's only graphics and sound, what gameplay mods can you recommend? There was a talk, two pages back, about one that makes combat less... Parabolic.
Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.I'm not sure. There's a lot of mods that claim to fix combat in Morrowind but I've heard tales that they don't do all that good a job. And some rely on other mods that may make changes you don't want.
It's been a while since I modded Morrowind and got it running so I've forgotten what mods I used.
Accurate Attack: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/23746/?
It works by giving every playable race a power that jacks up their To Hit rating to 1000%. It doesn't affect animals or Daedra or anything like that, just the playable races. Considering there's a stagger effect for every hit, it makes fights between two playables a matter of who hits first and keeps hitting. Against animals, it's unbalanced as fuck in your favor.
Thanks! I'll try it when it gets too frustrating.
I've started playing, and made two characters so far. One with Heavy armor and optimized for health, the other an Atronach sign spellcaster. Pretty interesting, if somewhat difficult with the latter.
Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.I gotta replay this and actually finish it sometime. With mods this time.
I learned there's a mod that lets you have a little family, kinda like Skyrim. I'd like to have something like that.
Today marks the 15th anniversary of Morrowind's release!
HYYYPE!!!Cue the music!
Morrowind works fine on your version of Windows. It worked for me and I'm jinxed. As for mods, any that make Morrowind's landscapes and fauna look prettier would be ones I go for. The character models for the people though, they've not been made any less ugly by modders.
