Yeah I figured.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"I like that response.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"Thank you.
This is yet another non-issue in the sea of non-issues.that is the modern internet.
Of ALL the things, my god.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThere's always gotta be at least one complaint about a Disney movie over a dumb non-issue, it's the standard procedure now that it's weird if there isn't one.
The part that confuses me more is that he's portrayed as a really cool, likable guy that's big, powerful, and strong. I'd think that'd be a great representation and very inspirational. It's a good move of Disney in my opinion.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectIndeed, they were always some of my favorite parts of mythology. Must be why I like Riordan's books so much.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"For a non-issue, you guys sure do seem obsessed with it.
Hey, who DOESN'T like to call out social justice warriors for their bullshit?
Just because it's a non issue that doesn't mean people won't get up in arms over it. If I wanna care about it and talk about it a bit I will.
I don't really think I'm obsessing over it though.

"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"I just don't really get the purpose. No one here (myself included) is going to humor the idea that people accusing Disney of fat-shaming in this case is a reasonable complaint. In my view, talking about it here is doing nothing but adding an air of negativity and fueling some of the more crazy lurkers' desire to harass "SJW's" (and providing targets for them, for that matter).

I'm certainly not obsessed. All I have offered is a weary roll of the eyes, an "Aw jeez, not again", and a Jon Tron clip.
I'm all for moving on. New trailer when?
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectMaui is amazing and awesome, I dont get how BEING FAT is in and out of itself BODY SHAMING. God these people.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI don't think we were obsessed, it was just a discussion that was brought up that we were contributing to, we weren't even making that big a deal of it
So I was doing some research on the movie out of curiosity and we know that Moana comes from a village called Motunui, which is an actual place in New Zealand. It's probably not the same place in the movie but I thought it was cool.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"Now, I know virtually nothing about Polynesian mythology. How closely related is it? Do Maori and Hawaiian mythology in any way mirror each other, the way Greek and Roman myths do, or Irish and Welsh?

I'm not too sure myself, I dunno much more than you do really. My brother might know some stuff about the Maori beliefs since he spent a couple years in New Zealand, as would my niece since she's also there right now. Huh I know quite a few people from New Zealand, I even have an online friend from there but it's been awhile since I last talked to him.
Anyways, I'd probably equate it more to the Central American culture. Because they had a lot of similarities but their own beliefs with different deities and such. From what I've looked up recently that's basically how the mythology of the pacific islands are I assume, and it probably all originated from the same or at least a similar source.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"Huh, interesting. Looks like Disney won't be adding Moana to the princess line (for now) since the film barely mentions her lineage

Mulan is part of the Princess line-up and she doesn't have any lineage at all.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! It occurred to me that this'll be the second Disney feature to star a Hawaiian protagonist (fourth if you count straight-to-video sequels). They've also done 2 with Native American protagonists (again, 4 if you count the straight-to video stuff).

I know Pocahontas, what's the other one?
The Emperor's New Groove is set in the Inca Empire.
I thought they meant Brother Bear.
Both would count. In that case there are three.
The chiseled look for Greek gods was according to the tastes of the era. The stories were already old before all the athletic statuary started showing up.
