I would think a animated series of Silmarillion would be great. Animation gives a certain amount of flexibility that is hard to match with live action. Which these days uses a lot of CGI animated assets in the first place.
Who watches the watchmen?Yeah, Tolkien is anti-realism at its finest.
@ couchpotato: Yeah, I'm not saying good romance movies don't exist. But you also have stuff like Gigli and the Star Wars prequels.
@Shiro Okami
Lol. Okay dude that's a low blow. Don't compare the genius writing of romance with George Lucas's sad usage of it in the prequels.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenI'm not comparing, I'm contrasting.
@Shiro Okami
Ah okay. Phew. ^^
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenI think a TV series would fit the Anthology style of The Silmarillion much better than a movie would. You could give each story it's own episode, with the larger ones being two or three-parters.

I agree.
I wouldn't call any film realistic where a beg for a date is done by hanging from a dangerous height by a Ferris Wheel, or where arguments take place outside in the rain rather than heading inside to escape the chilly downpour.
EDIT: Which, now that I think about it, is the wrong trait anyway. Luthien is by no means realistic, just believable in the same way one can believe a man can fly.
