Some people don't like his style and seem to have to scream about it every chance they get.
I, personally, like his videos, but I acknowledge that there are far better people out there.
On topic: I can't imagine this sticking around for awhile. The uproar over this was far, far worse than the whole Google+ comment thing (which wasn't really that big of a deal, to be honest). There's been a lot of backlash. Say what you will about Google, but they're not stupid.
I've never watched a single one of his videos, but I know him as a fellow who likes to use his influence towards various charities. I think he deserves respect for that.
If that's true, can't someone "sick the dogs on them," as the term goes? Inform some major company, with no affiliation or even interest towards this whole event that they're losing money, and their brand-recognition is being compromised. Hell, you could inform several major companies for as long as it takes until one of them decides to go to court with You Tube over this.
As ReviewTechUsa mentions, where will the next Jon Tron or Angry Joe come from with this system in place?
Oh, and AlphaOmegaSin's rant is up for anyone interested (it's a long one).

This one, actually. And you can find there a lot of the evidence towards why I don't like him.

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.Yeah, you could. Who knows if the companies that actually do have rights will take action in such a case though.
Forgive me if this was posted before, but apparently, Classic Game Room is no longer going to be putting videos up on Youtube, because of this fiasco.

Eh.This is a damn shame, it's actually eliciting an emotional response from me, and it really has nothing to do with me.
An exodus to Blip.tv is certainly one of the probable outcomes of all this. Youtube may be the big dog in town, but the people with loyal followings will have that following follow them.
A mass exodus would literally wake Google up honestly, I honestly think a majority of youtube money comes from LP'rs.
Blip has stricter content rules though, not sure if L Ps would be allowed there. I think they only want original content.
well if they allow stuff like tgwtg reviewers which are primarily just them riffing on the movie in question (with the occasional "its ok" or "its terrible" at the end of the video, which isnt that far off from L Ps which rate a game before they play it and then tend to switch around and loathe it by the end) then im pretty sure they're fine with L Ps.
which would be why blip is almost always where the alt video is.
I know several large LP'ers are moving to Twitch for awhile.

Now here's a chance for a relatively well-known fellow to sue their asses. I think he has a pretty good case.
Sony could sue them too, simply for their system making a claim for them. No one should be allowed to speak on behalf of an entire company when they have no affiliation with that company.
Good my favorite Let's Player earns money from organizing paintball tournaments.
My President is Funny Valentine.I feel like I get increasingly dumber the more I hear about this.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I know, right. This whole situation is fucking idiotic and Google are married to it so hard one would think it had an ironclad pre-nuptual agreement that gave it eleventy billion dollars if they tried to divorce themselves from it.
In a related thing, mainly because it ties into this current stupidity and helps explain some of it, this video is fucking awesome.

Because I didn't see it linked, a more organized and coherent video from Angry Joe.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I'm beginning to suspect the problem is unintended, that Google did an update to their checking system that glitched and it has gone out of control. (Remember, this change wasn't supposed to go live until January.)
They can't take part or all of the new system down because they don't have the manpower to cover for it (given their other policy changes), they can't implement a fix quickly enough to do something about it, and they don't want to admit they screwed it up because that will make them look worse.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Nope. Sorry. Read the Cracked article by David Wong about how the tech industry done stopped that whole innovation shit this year, (making some pretty good points in the process) - this shit is all part of a plan by Google. All of it. Including fucking up youtube.
http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-signs-tech-industry-finally-ran-out-ideas-in-2013/ - the number one item on the list goes into detail, with handy links.
And exactly how does that article disprove what I said? A competent consumer-unfriendly plan in Area A does not make everything that happens competent, consumer-unfriendly, or a plan. (Don't get me wrong, this is consumer-unfriendly, but there's a good chance it was not planned.)
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Yeah. Google+ integration is the kind of idea pulled out of the arse of a company that's desperate to fight for Facebook market share, because social media is the Next Big Thing and Google is desperately struggling to retain its status as "the Internet company."
The autochecking software going Skynet on us doesn't fit that narrative, so a more likely answer is that it was not part of an agenda and instead was a result of someone firing off a new functionality "improvement" without making sure it works. Fortunately, since Google appears to have pissed off a lot of other companies involved in the whole thing, it's likely that they'll take more notice of that than they will of the internet rage.
PS: Honest Corporate Executives, or at least net-savvy ones: thanks for having the Internet's back on this.
Now they're even misidentifying content.
GTA is now a jazz haven.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Did you miss the bit in the article about Content ID and why all this was part of Google's plan? Because I sure as heck didn't.
Here's a list of how different game developers view monetizing their footage. (It was put together by indie game developer Lars Doucet.)
The majority is pretty clearly not on You Tube's side here.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)
I just don't like his humor (and I find him too loud), but to each their own. One of my friends quite enjoys his videos.
Though that's a topic for another thread, probably.
