I ran into an odd bit on Wikipedia, and it started me thinking about these (I also read this site's listing). For a long while in the 70's and 80's, it seemed like every live show had a cartoon counterpart, officially or otherwise. Just wanted to see what memories (or You Tubing WTF? reactions) people here had.

Anyway, the odd bit was this from the listing on The Other Wiki for Gilligan's Planet :

"In 2012, Animation World Network named Gilligan's Planet the 57th greatest animated television series of all-time."

Ummm...No. I think even 1557th might have been too high. Not the worst thing you've ever seen, but it was at the dead-end of this trend, and likely shows why it was finally abandoned. I don't know if this is accurate info, or how AWN decides these things, but I want Rorschach tests administered, maybe by Rorschach from Watchmen.

I remember the ABC Saturday Superstar Movie had a lot of 'movies' that were unsold pilots for this type of show. Looking back, these shows kind of remind me of Captain Galaxy's attempt at leaping in Quantum Leap ep "Future Boy", you see a desire to make this work, and you see the blue light start up—-and then it fades out.
