So, since the Kickstarter was canceled on Nov 22, Bugbear has decided to simply continue on developing the game without the extra funding. And now, the game is on Steam Early Access, where one can buy the game in its pre-alpha state and start enjoying it now, assuming they can overcome the possible issues, bugs, glitches and missing features.
I can't believe this will ACTUALLY BE CALLED "Next Car Game". No wonder it failed.
Imagine if Star Citizen was called "Next Space Sim". It would most likely fail.
Imagine if Project Eternity / Pillars Of Eternity was called "Next Oblivion RPG". It would most likely fail.
Imagine if Broken Age was called "Double Fine Adventure". It would...
...wait.
It was never suggested that "Next Car Game" will be the final title. It's a placeholder title, with a final, better one coming out later.
Some videos have been made on the game, with Giant Bomb's video being the one that's using the latest build (as of the day that video was posted, anyway).
I dunno, I am distrusting of bugbear after they produced the F 2 P Pay 2 Win Garbage that is Ridge Racer Driftopia
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Whatever failures Driftopia had, I don't know if all of them could be blamed on Bugbear. For all we know, they could be publisher-mandated stuff from Namco Bandai.
With the release of the latest update, the game is no longer called Next Car Game. Instead, it is now called...
(insert drumroll here)
Wreckfest
Also, the update introduces online 24-car multiplayer to the game.

Wreckfest? Jesus Christ, that sounds a bit desperate, dunnit.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Well what else could they call it? It's a game where cars getting wrecked all over the place is kind of its main selling point, complete with detailed crash physics.
Sure thing, it's just that the name sounds... I dunno, cheap, kinda like a mobile game that tries to rip off a more popular franchise .
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. To be fair, its status as a Spiritual Successor to the Flatout series kinda makes the "ripping off a more popular series" thing rather fitting.
I have the free demo. It's incredibly fun. I hope to scrape together enough discretionary money so I can play the current version.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Bugbear just released an update for a new game mode called Road Rumble!
JK, it's just their April Fools joke of the year
Wasn't there an Xbox 1 game with "Wreck" in its name?
FYI the reason they can't use the "Flatout" IP is because some other company bought the IP rights and proceeded to shit all over it by making Flatout 3, which is basically total shovelware.
After months of development, Wreckfest has a new update that brings in a brand new engine that apparently leads to better looking crashes. Along with this big update, the game is now 40% off for an entire week starting yesterday.
So, a lot has gone down in the last few years since this thread was last updated.
It seemed this game was in a bit of a slump until recently, with barely any updates and people wondering if it will ever get fully released. Well, since then, the game somehow managed to gain a publisher, THQ Nordic. And along with that, they apparently got enough funding to go through with some significant updates in March (1, 2, 3) and April that helped the game get back up to speed and Win Back the Crowd, so to speak. Now it looks like the game is better than ever and is on its way to being released this year, to the point where I'm seriously considering buying it even at this state.
Has anyone else gotten into this game since then? If so, what do you think of it now?
I saw a video of this game on Highlight Reel on You Tube, so does that mean the game is out?
Optimism is a duty. The game has since been released on the xbone and ps4. So has anyone played it?
Optimism is a duty.

They've been hyping this up for a while, and they've finally put up a Kickstarter. It appears to be a Spiritual Successor to the Flatout series that aims to be those games taken Up To Eleven. It's been going on for a week and they're only around 1/7th of the way to their goal ($54,000 out of the needed $350,000).
I'm sure this looks interesting to some of you guys.
