3.5e is as good a system to start with as any. The really bad system breaks and the class tiers don't really start showing until you've got some experience under your belt (nobody's going to know how to make a Batman wizard or a mailman sorcerer, et cetera), and your average gamer knows and started with D&D.

Well, okay, that's not entirely true, some gamers started with Vampire. But that doesn't sound like your group.

I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.

[up] Yeah, that's not my group. We just (as of an hour ago) spent a little over two hours making characters for four people(expected), a single combat due to people having to "get up early" i.e before 11 o'clock the next morning (expected) and all but one person arriving two hours late (not expected).

They were delighted as one of cut someone in half (a crit on a greatsword dealing max damage, with target having a total of 10hp).

So, the barbarian doesn't rage, the paladin doesn't smite, the rogue doesn't sneak attack, and yet...they're happy...

SUCCESS!!!
