Being a black ops bun is very prestigious

It means you're safe from the Watatsuki's insane mini skirt fetish

Do you think the Eagle Ravi team (what does Ravi mean? Mispronunciation of Rabbit?) was named based on communications from the Apollo mission astronauts? "The Eagle had landed" and all that?

I can kind of imagine a group of spiteful Lunarians chuckling to themselves after deciding on that for the Earth scout team's name. "We'll send that filthy planet a few 'eagles' of our own!"

Eirin did name a spellcard after Apollo 13 so they're probably exactly that spiteful

The problem with doing a picdump for a character with a memetic hand gesture is how unbearably samey the fanart gets.

Is she about to get Reimu'd?
Being stylish about it
Unusually bright
Same pose, different style
Surprised she hasn't wound up like Loki yet
Curious how canon this is
You'd think she'd put it on her other side
Maybe she has two wings but we can only see one of them
With a generic sword
With a Japanese sword
In a kimono with cotton candy because why not
It's easy to imagine her like PJ's Mouth of Sauron, with cracked, wounded lips
Koto Inari being typical
Persona!
Walking the lunar sea
Somebody fix the tag, that's not the moon
Again, willing to put money on that not being the moon
Come on, it even has clouds and everything
Oh hey, a Terran eclipse
Getting distracted by that coastline
Apocalyptic
Cute, but then you start to wonder whether they qualify as child soldiers
Another good ol' stage-adjacency ship
Pretty Western interior for a proto-Japanese civilization
A nice enough picture, but I got distracted by the "cookie jar" tag
Monologuing is dangerous
Sagume vs. inscrutable hell-clown whimsy
Still surprised she and her sister weren't in LoLK
Good ol' trait-connection ship
"I'm you, but stronger"
Master and padawan
Let's throw in a midget as well
And a tapir, why not
Ladies and gentlemen, we have found the cause for the unrelenting shitshow that was 2016
Welcome to the club
Yep
I see you peeking in that first one
This picture might be dangerous to share with tropers of a certain age during a particular time of year
This is how karaoke could end civilization
Doremy trolls you in your sleep
She fills a vital role in lunar society
Also, there are no smoke detectors on the moon
Tastes better than tape
Something from the artist formerly known as giselebon
Speaking of, here's a Sagume x Doremy comic with kinky biting

Well, she set in motion a plan to mega-kill an entire small country, but she also seemed fairly reluctant to go through with it, and took the opportunity to bet on something else as soon as she was able to. Even knowing that, because of her power, she personally guaranteed the original plan's failure. So at the very least she didn't want to genocide Gensokyo.

That said, she still did some serious metaphysical damage to it, as she's the cause the Urban Legend incident which is still ongoing and shows no signs of stopping. So in that sense she permanently scarred Gensokyo.

Sagume is anti villain or at least a well intentioned extremist who bit off more than she can chew?

Again, she was wiling to kill everything in a valley so it wouldn't stink up the place with death (lol moon logic). I'd call her a straight-up villain, just one with enough morals to feel bad about doing so and take advantage of a better solution when one presented itself, but not enough morals to refuse to go through with the original plan in the first place.

Okay then, let's let Sagume slip into a safe silence. Up next will be Futo, followed by Hecatia and... applying an executive override against someone who only appeared in a PoDD ending... ah, looks like someone who lives for one specific moment. But first,

Stage: Forward Base on the Lake Lunatic Front Line ~ Youkai Mountain Lake
BGM: "The Lake Reflects the Pure Moonlight"note
Theme: "September Pumpkin"note

Spellcard Motif: Rice Flour Dumplings, the Harvest Moon
Spellcards: (LoLK)
Rabbit Sign "Strawberry Dango," Rabbit Sign "Berry Berry Dango," Rabbit Sign "Dango Influence," Moon-Viewing "September Full Moon," Moon-Viewing Sake "Lunatic September"

Write-up:
Another long-eared member of the Lunar military, but no mere grunt. Ringo has the cushy job of "information management" as part of her reconnaissance unit, meaning there's no need for her to get into combat. Which doesn't mean she's averse to getting stuck in if an enemy comes by.

Like the other Lunar Rabbits we've seen, Ringo isn't an enormously motivated soldier, and was actually feeling conflicted about the "purify Gensokyo" plan, but orders are orders. But after that Incident was resolved, it would seem Ringo and at least one other soldier from her unit went AWOL and have been spotted starting new lives for themselves in Gensokyo. Will her superiors take action against this new wave of desertion? Can Ringo's dango stand survive her own appetite for her products? Only time will tell.

Well, Ringo's interesting. Like previous moonbunny Reisen, she ditched the moon for the earth. Unlike previous moonbunny Reisen, she doesn't seem to live with other moons or other bunnies. Last time we see her was in Alternative Facts, where she was in a dango-selling competition with Seiran.

So she was an "information management" officer. We don't know exactly what it entails, but I assume she's actually privy to some moon secrets, like who Junko is. Her desertation might actually induce some paranoia among Lunarians. Or probably not. She's just one of the many expendable moonbunnies, and she doesn't seem to care about the Lunarians enough to spread them.

So basically I want to see more of her in the future.

I wonder if the quality or filling of the dumpling has any bearing on what it does for her, power-wise.

What I wonder about is whether Ringo (and Seiran) are like Reisen or Reisen. That is, are they grunts or elites? Presumably even the mainline lunar rabbit army has reconnaissance units and whatnot... or that may be too generous for a bunch of conscripted cannon fodder, hmm.

Anyway, it's possible that Ringo is evidence that even the bunny mooks have more than soldiers in jackets and skirts with suspiciously old-fashioned rifles, that they've got their own specialists with a more relaxed dress code and distinct abilities. Or maybe she's more like a spec ops trooper, someone who stands out from the long-eared masses by their superior training, competence, dumpling-based powers, and so forth. A peer of a lunar rabbit we're more familiar with in other words, if not an actual former squadmate.

And I just realized that I'm operating under the assumption that protagonist Reisen was some sort of super soldier instead of a typical bunny-at-arms, which might be skewing all of this a fair amount.

The Eagle Rabii are special, covert units separate from the regular moonbunny military. Actually I don't the Watatsukis even know about them. They seem to operate directly under Sagume. It makes sense they don't need to wear uniforms.

It's unknown how big this unit is, but Seiran seems like one of the lowest rank. I mean, she's stuck with the least wanted job and when she called for assistance nobody came. In comparison Ringo seems like one of the higher ranks.

They could could not be very big as the conventional forces but big enough to at least be able to spy on their enemies.

Something about the start of that House Set mix makes me think of classic Gradius. And that Innocent Key remix makes me wonder about a connection to that "Tei! Tei! Tei!" music video. Good finds.

Hmm, this would suggest either a feudal society, in which each powerful family maintains its own military, or the sort of situation you see in authoritarian/totalitarian states in which there's separate armed forces for the state and its ideological components that are trying to check each other's power. Or split the difference and say it's both.

And man, that's really dumping on the Watatsukis, isn't it? They're left out of the loop during LoLK, and it might turn out that they're just wasting time, dressing bunnies up in jackets and skirts and making them run drills, playing toy soldiers while elsewhere Sagume and the moon's real military are doing the actual defending.

They could could not be very big as the conventional forces but big enough to at least be able to spy on their enemies.

It's probably being generous to call them "spies," they're not even trying to pass as Earth rabbits, it's more like they're manning a listening post in enemy territory, or scouting.

...Which begs the question, where are the moon's spies?

Not exactly...? More like they're just a different branch of the military. They're like the CIA compared to the Watatsuki's land army.

Junko is just out of scope of Watatsuki's abilities, so it's up to Sagume and her special op agents this time.

Maybe Ringo did some research on Earth culture and learned about it from her research? OR maybe the Lunarians still have information from their Earth days?

Junko is just out of scope of Watatsuki's abilities, so it's up to Sagume and her special op agents this time.

Which I guess is a subtle way of hyping LoLKs main villain, by implying that she's too strong for the manga villains a lot of fans considered Sues in themselves. Which in turn makes the protagonist look even better if they beat Junko without using Eirin's elixir.

Anyhoo, on to the picdump. So many pictures of Ringo eating, so many pictures focused on her exposed belly, and yet not as many pictures of her as there could be. Still, here's what I found that stood out.

A surly sketch
An apple for a change
Mefomefo She's eating in like two out of three pics
Maybe she owns one but doesn't normally wear it
Hatless and disoriented
An almost Middle Eastern outfit
Dumpling powered
A picture suggesting a whole new characterization
If she switched from dango to meth
Koto Inari doing their thing

Mid-air snacking
Om nom nomming away
Focus on the scenery, not what she may or may not be wearing

Don't nap outdoors in winter, guys
A nightmare existence in an impure land
An improbable standoff
Doubt they served in the same unit, but a neat concept
Bunny bonanza
Bunny battalion
I really want them to meet her in canon
Unexpected but not illogical
Unexpected but rocking
A challenger appears
Dream eater eater
Her EX-form
