Ok, so here is the story so far. I'm Playing D&D 3.5. This is my first time playing a wizard and well, I'm non optimized as it is possible to be and still make it to 8th level wizard before dying. First round of combat three sessions ago right at the start of the night, my character got koed. Session after that, she was killed and I had to make up a new character. This game I brought my new character to the table but things were very meh because all we did was tie up loose ends that the character was not a part of. However, my old character has a 'Resurrect at all costs' agreement with her party. Because I was retiring the character we settled for a reincarnate. I rolled 00, aka the best roll you can get "DM Chooses" My DM said, "You can come back as anything, your choice." "Anything? A dragon?" I asked. "A young one, but yes you could come back as that. Anything." He had also previously made it clear that I could rework the details of my character if I chose to resurrect her.

I've now got a lot of stuff to pour over and figure out what I want. However, what are your thoughts? Anything that you can possibly find and add 8 Levels of Wizard to it. 20 Int, 14 Cha, 14 Wis + Physical stats of creature. What would you choose?

Wow. Wow....owch. You GM is a poor, poor trusting soul. Just...owch.

In this case, you've basically been handed an "I win button" on a platter.

Do you want great stats? Do you want awesome mobility? Good spell-likes? You can get any, and even all of those. Pretty damn crazy that you're not restricting yourself to the resurrect table. I mean, you're already a wizard, so it's pretty damn hard to get *more* broken...but if it's possible, you've won the door prize.

My form choices

Dragon, Gold: Good natural attacks and armor, great mobility, and *amazing* racial state modifiers by the template. If you want to do be a real dick, once you've got access to level 8-8 spells, you can use the "Create Demi-plane" spell to age yourself up to whatever category you like, with 0 passage of out-of-demiplane time. You hardly need it at that level, but once it's possible.

For sheer armor, Trolls, Hydras and Treants are where it's at. You get regeneration, selective immunity, and stuff like that. For Treants, you start with a base natural AC of something like 29, which is about as much as an effectively geared fighter type. Hydra gives you seven attacks per round, though you probably should be casting rather than biting at your enemies.

If you want to be some subtle, pick an Imp. Something with at will invisibility, and tiny size. Tiny alone gives you a pretty massive AC bonus, and the stat bonuses and DR isn't that bad either. You also get spell resistance, alternate form, and fast healing from Imps.

Finally, for sheer "throw the book at offending player" cheese, my personal favorite is http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Pixie.

Damage Reduction, Spell Resistance, At will fight, and worst, at will greater invisibility. If you get killed as one of those, you're doing something wrong. And if you DM allows it, I pity them.

Just remember to have polymorph spell handy for when you actually need to interact with people, and realize that if you pick a large creature, dungeons may be challenging.

I think I've decided on Gold dragon. Always wanted to play one. Now I have the chance. Now, I'm going to take this like a negotiation and ask for everything and then whittle down. Like I said, the age cat for the Dragon is young. So lets cheese this out but keep a solid core that I can negotiate down to.

So lets get started. Large Size. Racial 11d12+33 + Wizard 8d4+ 24 HP,

Str: 25 Dex: 10 Con: 17 Int:20 Wis:10 Cha:16

(Not including 2 stat increases)

BAB: Racial +14 + Wizard +4

Saves Fort:Racial +12 Wizard +2 Ref: Racial +9 Wizard +2 Will: Racial +12 Wizard +6

Breath Weapon (DC): 6d10 (20)

Speed: Ground 60 ft., fly 200 ft. (poor), swim 60 ft.

AC: -1 Size +13 Natural

Abilities: Alternate form immunity to fire vulnerability to cold water breathing 3/day—bless caster level 1 Sorcerer (Spells only) Scribe scroll

Things that need to be decided on Spells Feats familiar skills

Missing anything?

In Terms of Direction, leadership (with her ruling a empire or a secret order at the end of the game) might be nifty.

You should come back as a Tarrasque.

I know of no better purpose in life than to perish attempting the great and impossible.
