Now about Injustice in the Marvel-DC Merged Universe, it should be mixed with Civil War since both stories have a patriotic icon and a Badass Normal billionaire forming their own factions after a tragedy that kills numerous people (Stamford Incident/Bombing of Metropolis). Now, I think that the Injustice/Civil War storyline could have Lois Lane's death and the destruction of Metropolis as the hook for the plot with Superman establishing the One Earth Regime. Batman's Insurgency and Superman's Regime would have their usual lineups with Marvel characters from Captain America to Mister Fantastic. The X-Men could stay neutral like they did in the comics Civil War.

At some point in the story, the Insurgency will send some of their own back in time to stop Superman from accidentally killing his own wife and creating the Regime. They're successful in doing it but they inadvertently create a new timeline separate from the main universe as a result of their actions. It has far-reaching consequences that affect later storylines with the Regime Superman eventually plotting his conquest of The Multiverse after he's defeated Batmand and turned him into a brainwashed minion.

Why thanks Detective Marvel, its nice to be appreciated. :) We may assume that Krypton had an unusual type of core that the "bomb" turned into Kryptonite which in turn caused the chain reaction that blew it up, this explains why this wasn't done elsewhere. Btw. in case you didn't know it the "What If Galactus Ate Krypton" theory was actually explored in a comic book, and again it turns out it wasn't his doing. Also, my "Kryptonians are Kree" idea is based on several things: first, Marvel obviously ripped off (Silver Age) Krypton for the Kree's culture, though they later added original stuff as well. Second, Hyperion (their version of Superman) is an Eternal. Third, the Kree have Eternals (Ultimus aka The Demon Druid is one) Fourth, Captain Mar-Vell had super strength derived from being born on Hala, a planet with higher gravity than Earth (same deal as Superman, tough Superman is stronger), and finally, its an homage of sorts to the classic Golden Age/Earth 2 Superman, where Kryptonians had powers even on krypton. It all fits too well not to use it. One additional note: over the years, the question of "how did kryptonite get to Earth?" has been asked. Marvel actually provides the answer! It's a known fact that the Sol System has a major space warp somewhere in it (apparently created by the semi-cosmic being called Origin precisely to create superhumans, or so it claims) It has attracted the attention of all manner of aliens such as Celestials and Kree to Earth. So it makes sense that Kal-El's spaceship, and several chunks of kryptonite, went through it as well and ended up on Earth.

As for Civil War, I have my own idea for it: combining it with "Legends." It begins as in the latter, with Darkseid and The Phantom Stranger taking bets on whether the former could destroy humanity's faith in its heroes. Brimstone does massive destruction and defeats the combined forces of the Justice League and Titans East (The New Warriors) Glorious Godfrey blames everything on the heroes and his hypnotic voice makes a lot of people agree. Acts of violence begin to happen against heroes. The government passes the Superhuman Registration Act which causes a split among those heroes who accept it and those who don't. At one point the sides fight each other. When Brimstone reappears Amanda Waller activates The Suicide Squad which contains both DC and Marvel villains, they succeed in destroying the monster. The Resistance Heroes free those heroes arrested from the prison in the Negative Zone aka the Anti-Matter Universe. Darkseid sends his forces to invade Washington DC; Dr. Fate asks Dr. Strange for help, but he refuses, so Fate gathers several heroes to his side and stops the invasion. With Apokolips revealed as being behind the events, the SRA is suspended. The Avengers Initiative is put in place, but the Justice league swears to go where needed regardless of national laws.

I'm working on my own merged timeline, expect it soon.

So about Injustice, I'm guessing that it will be an alternate reality to the Mergedverse.

I'm assuming that this project will mix and match elements from the comics, MCU, DCEU and other Marvel/DC universes (i.e. Ultimate Marvel and DCAU). In regards to Thor, I guess that all the characters will look like their comic book counterparts and that Thor will land in Tonsberg, Norway under the human alias of "Donald Blake" with Jane Foster as an astrophysicist and the only mortal to really know him personally with Erik Selvig or Darcy Lewis not existing at all or having drastically different roles. Perhaps Balder could be involved as well in a crucial role much like what was intended for the first Thor film.

Well, I don't know how this project is supposed to work. All my suggestions have been based on my own Headcanon, which is based only on the comics, not movies or cartoons. We have several options:

  • Vote on what stuff will be canon.
  • Everyone's headcanon is valid, taking place on a separate reality (after all both settings have Multiverses)
  • A combination: a "Main Universe" voted on, with non-canon stories clearly marked as such.

Also, what is the purpose of the project? Forum Games? Fanfics? Both?

[BTW. I'm currently running a DC+Marvel game using the Basic Action Super Hero system on Discord. New players are welcome. Knowledge of the rules is not necessary since there is a character generator available.]

The Reach's Scarab technology was developed after an encounter with the Klyntar (symbiotes).

Cool idea Windleopard, the Scarab-Symbiote connection makes a lot of sense.

In terms of the “point” of this thread, or how the project is supposed to work... a lot of people have proposed different systems over the years of this thread’s existence, and some groups have even launched projects on other websites/databases. I think this thread has grown far beyond a single cohesive project, though... it’s years and years worth of brainstorming and ideas at this point. To me, this is the value of the thread: all these different ideas and discussions collected here on one forum make this one of the most comprehensive discussions of a Marvel-DC shared universe anywhere on the Internet. I think that itself is a glorious achievement, at this point. So personally, I’m really most interested in hearing people’s headcanons and the development of those ideas together, in more of an abstract way than a hardline canon or anything like that. But the fan fiction projects that’ve grown out of it are also cool, especially some of the individual stories (like the Superman-FF origin story... was that by you, Sijo?)

Regarding the idea of Injustice in the shared universe: I agree with the sentiment set by King Zeal early on in the thread, that mainline Superman should not fall or turn evil, and this really betrays the point of his character. Superman doesn’t have to go evil to be interesting, he’s actually a lot more interesting as a genuine exploration of a God-on-Earth archetype in the modern day. So I think that Injustice should be an alternate universe, and those roles could even be filled by classic comic book expies such as the Squadron Supreme, Crime Syndicate of America, or even Stormwatch/the Authority. I do think the idea of a rogue Superman leading a multiversal invasion is way too cool not to explore further, though.

Regarding the events of Injustice and Civil War, it’s kind of funny... Civil War is a provocative and interesting concept, handled in a highly generic fashion. While Injustice is a highly generic concept, but handled in an interesting and provocative fashion. I do wonder where the various heroes of each universe would fall in these “hero vs. hero” type events.

For Civil War:

Superman would side with Iron Man and the government, most likely... he tends to support and trust the government, and he’s associated with them frequently before. Plus, this would set up the Supes vs. Cap stand-off, where the Boyscout in Blue has to face his greatest childhood hero. Of course these guys aren’t nearly at the same power level, but we could even the odds by hitting Supes with a kryptonite arrow, or maybe having Cap wield Mjolnir in the fight. I do think Superman might eventually turn on the government and join Cap, ala Spider-Man. Or he could exit from the conflict entirely, like the Thing. But with Supes on Iron Man’s side, I do expect they’d be far more likely to win the Civil War in this universe as well.

Batman would side with Cap, almost surely, and his anti-superhero contingency plans would really come in handy to even the playing field between both factions. Of course, it’s not that Batman doesn’t think someone should be keeping an eye on all these crazy metas... it’s just that he doesn’t trust the government, and thinks he should be the one doing it instead. Maybe in the end, Batman and Iron Man could negotiate some kind of solution where superhero oversight is handled by the Justice League rather than the government... a situation which presents its own smorgasbord of issues, and could lead into troubling futures like Kingdom Come or Twilight of the Superheroes really naturally.

But what about Wonder Woman, where would she side in the Civil War? I can see arguments pushing her in either direction.

Green Arrow is siding with Cap 100%, while Green Lantern is probably with Iron Man, unless Ollie can change his mind somehow.

Plastic Man is probably with Iron Man too, being an FBI agent and all, though he could play the role of a double agent, if his true loyalty is to Nick Fury.

I also think that the X-Men sitting out of the conflict is one of the stupidest conceits of the original story, and makes absolutely no sense... they should be anti-registration all the way, given their history with the government.

For Injustice, I wonder which Marvel heroes would be willing to side with psycho killer Superman. I could definitely see Iron Man going that way, he’s got that totalitarian streak, though his ego might tilt him against Superman instead. Most traditional heroes like Captain America, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and the Hulk would be radically opposed to Superman’s new regime. Antiheroes like the Punisher might be into it, but would Superman accept them into the fold? They’d probably seem more like criminals to him. Overall, I think most heroes in both universes would be opposed to Superman as a ruthless dictator, and it seems like it would become a one-man crusade for the Man of Steel.

On other fronts, Sijo, I am really looking forward to that timeline! Seems like you’ve been developing it for a looong time, and really put a lot of research and effort into it. The glimpses we’ve gotten have all been really creative and informative.

No the Superman/Fantastic Four idea wasn't mine. I was referring to this comic: https://www.cbr.com/superman-man-steel-herald-galactus/

The problem with Superman siding with the government in Civil War is that the SRA required heroes to reveal their identities publicly, something we know Supes would never do (and in fact, in Legends, Superman told The President in person he would not abide by his order for all heroes to stand down).

My Timeline is still a work in progress, but I can share this much at this moment:

MODERN HEROIC ERA About 9 years ago, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash (Barry Allen) debut nearly at the same time, signaling the beginning of another Age of Heroes. The Justice League is formed soon after.

About a year later, and shortly after the forming of the Teen Titans, Reed Richards, and his space crew encounter a cosmic ray storm that activates their metagenes. Inspired by the Challengers of the Unknown, with whom they have a friendly rivalry, they also become explorers of paranormal phenomena. (Eventually, the Challengers decide to retire and let the Fantastic Four handle these matters.)

Shortly thereafter Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive spider which, you guessed it, activates his metagene and he becomes Spider-Man. He works mainly for the Daily Bugle but moonlights for the Daily Planet's NY branch as well. He meets and befriends Jimmy Olsen.

Dr. Pym discovers the size-changing particles that would be named after him. He's unaware that just a year before they were discovered by Ray Palmer who used them to become the (second) Atom. Palmer lets Pym claim the glory. Pym uses the particles to become Ant-Man.

Thor is punished for his pride by being trapped in the form of the lame Dr. Donald Blake. The enchantment is based by Odin on the one that Shazam used to empower his champion, Captain Marvel. (Note: in this version, other than a brief confusion when Captain Mar-Vell first came to Earth, Billy Batson has always been the only Captain Marvel, all other characters use other names).

General Lane (Lois Lane's father) convinces the US Government that they should develop a weapon to take down Superman, should he go rogue. They agree and appoint General Ross and Dr. Bruce Banner to the building a Kryptonite bomb. But due to sabotage by a spy Banner is exposed to its radiation and becomes the Hulk (note: I'm using the version of Kryptonite that gave Luthor cancer here.)

After Loky tries to trick The Hulk into attacking Thor, other NYC area heroes become involved and he's exposed and defeated. They decide to stay together to form the Avengers. They soon find and revive Captain America.

Inspired by Captain Comet (the first superhero to publicly admit he is a mutant) Professor Xavier forms the X-Men. He's approached by Niles Caulder of The Doom Patrol, who offers to give asylum to those mutants with freakish appearances, starting with Angel and The Beast, though neither of them accepts as they can disguise themselves as human, with some effort. Years later however Nightcrawler would join The New Doom Patrol and Tempest would join The New X-Men.

Stephen Strange, brother of Adam Strange, becomes the Sorcerer Supreme. note that Adam never found this out, nor did Stephen learn that Adam became the hero of the planet Rann.

The Sub-Mariner recovers from decades of amnesia. He refused to accept Aquaman as the ruler of Atlantis until the latter obtained the Trident of Poseidon/Neptune. They still pretty much detest each other.

Dr. Strange, The Hulk, Submariner, and The Silver Surfer fund The Defenders, though the team soon becomes a "non-team" with very fluid membership. Over the years they would include members of The Outsiders.

At one point, The Teen Titans become so large (including members from what would have been The New Warriors) that they split into East Coast and West Coast branches.

Detective Marvel Yeah, I kinda realized that this wouldn't fit with the template of the continuity (a merger between the mainline Marvel and DC universes with elements of other realities) and I preferred the Civil War/Legends hybrid idea. As you said, a reality based on Injustice with Superman invading the Mergedverse is a cool concept that should be really explored. It's also pretty redundant to have the Squadron Supreme or other JLA pastiches interact with the Avengers or the Justice League for reasons that should be very obvious. Maybe it will be a divergent timeline from the Mergedverse's version of Civil War where the Joker got out of prison and tricked Superman into killing his own wife, leading him to kill the Clown Prince of Crime in retaliation and form the One Earth Regime.

Concerning the Avengers, I think that they should be a composite between the comics and MCU iterations in that they are a team of extraordinary individuals founded by SHIELD as part of an important project and the lineup is comprised of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man and the Wasp, the latter of whom coined "Avengers" as the name for the new superhuman strikeforce. The individual members put aside their constant bickering and feuding with each other to stop Loki from taking over the Earth after Loki kills Phil Coulson. The Avengers become famous by defeating the Asgardian trickster at the Battle of New York. Later members would include Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, War Machine, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Beast and others.
