That... wasn't rude at all. Well, unless you're referring to misspelling my name
And no. I'm not complaining. I have no issue with (that part of) the casting. I'm just surprised because it's the exact kind of Race Lift I would expect a company to make when they're already facing allegations of racism.
... that said I'm going to say that a half-Asian person isn't the same as an Asian. Or a white person. For better or for worse, there's a big distinction there. One drop rule be damned.
But again, that's neither here nor there so I'd like to drop it.
EDIT: I suppose my initial post should've been clearer. I said I'm surprised and disappointed in the casting choice. I meant I'm surprised (but not disappointed) that they didn't cast a full-blooded Asian person. I'm disappointed (but not surprised) that they cast someone I have no reason to believe can fight. Again.

Edit- I am concerned about the fighting aspect too, although I think there were various filming and choreography circumstances that made the Sand Snake fight so bad, so I wouldn't be that worried. And she was one of the better acted Sand Snakes and seemed a decent actress during her brief appearance in Force Awakens.
Appreciate the clarification though.

... better acted Sand Snakes? You mean compared to "I will do nothing but frown Obara" and "You need the bad pussy" Tyene?
But, jokes aside, you're right. I was disappointed they didn't do more with her. From the getgo she was the only Sand Snake I didn't immediately hate.
I suppose it's the one-two-punch of this and Danny's casting. Danny is supposed to be in the top three martial arts in the world. I don't think Loras' actor had a single real fight scene (for better or for worse).
It worries me.
And yeah, no worries on the clarification. I'm not a howling racist. Especially against my own race.

So, who was she in The Force Awakens, again?

Oh God! Natural light! One of the X-Wing pilots.
This place is careless. The hilarious thing about this train wreck in this thread is now some fans are complaining that she looks too asian because she doesn't have red hair.
As if hair dye isn't a thing that exists.
In the comics, Colleen is half-Japanese, half-Chinese. Somehow, that comes out to looking mostly Caucasian. Because comics in the '70s. So at least they cast someone who actually does look Asian. Way more Asian than the character does in the comics.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Wait, she is half-Chinese, half-Japanese? Because people have been saying she's half-white, half-Japanese in the various threads.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Yeah, my bad with that I think. Wasn't realizing that Lee Wing was a Chinese-American name.(or an approximation thereof).
So yes, in that sense, casting a half-Caucassian actress is kind of "problematic". Although as noted, Henwick is much more Asian looking for lack of a better word than Colleen has ever been drawn.
It isn't. She's mixed white and Japanese. I have no idea where anyone is getting the idea that she's half Chinese from.
Is the name "Wing" throwing people?

For the record, this is Lee Wing.
Oh God! Natural light!. Huh. The other wiki claims she has Chinese ancestry. That's what I was basing my apparently wrong assumption on.
Looks like Hugh Heffner.
......Yeah. o.O
"You can reply to this Message!"One thing I've noticed about the Netfliex shows: There's always one song I love. Daredevil Season 1 had Only For You by the Heartless Bastards as background music during a bar scene. Jessica Jones had Demons by Sleigh Bells during Trish's badass slow walk. And Daredevil Season 2 had Date With The Night by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs during a pretty sweet bike scene.
I'm guessing that trend won't continue with Luke Cage, which I imagine will lean more towards R&B, soul, rap and hip-hop. I'm not expecting the show to have much rock music playing.

Netflix Orders "Punisher" Spinoff Series Starring Jon Bernthal
Very excited for more Punisher.
It does make me hopeful for other spin offs. Elecktra is always more enjoyable a character when she's the protagonist. And I'd love to see the female heroes for hire team get their own show.
Finally getting caught up on the Marvel Netflix shows. Finished Daredevil Season 1, now partway into Jessica Jones, and I have to say so far I'm enjoying it much more than I did Daredevil. I'm finding Jessica surprisingly compelling as a character, whereas Matt and his various sidekicks honestly never really interested me. And while DD's version of Fisk was fairly solid, Kilgrave so far is a far more terrifying antagonist than I ever found him to be.note Neat seeing Luke Cage make his MCU debut as well - I'm looking forward to his solo series more than ever.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Jeri Hogarth is in Iron Fist. She's really getting tangled up in this vigilante business.
I want to see her teach Danny to do the Trinity freeze-kick.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."
Trying to think of a non rude way to put this and probably failing, but Larkmarn, you know the character is also mixed race, so are you actually bothered by that aspect of the casting or just throwing it in as a ground for complaint?
