No, not a new video but just a review of one of the older one:
I must confess that I actually used this video as a guideline to make my most recent watchlist.
I just finished waching Summertime Rendering, which was an AMAZING anime. So now I literally watched EVERY ANIME IN THIS LIST, except for the football ones and Birdie Wing, which I specifically decided to skip.
And I gotta say, after watching the entries Garnt's description of them feel just so darn appropriate. In the case of like Made in Abyss season 2, for example, it sure was an insteresting feeling to realize "Oh, so THAT's what he meant with the clips!"
Speaking of which, though, the only thing I disagree with about the list is Made in Abyss season 2 being put in the top. After watching that one, I still feel that either Cyberpunk: Edgerunners or Mob Psycho 100 season 3 should have got that spot, by the virtue of them having conclusive and satisfactory endings. That said, I do understand his rationale.
Videos like this make me appreciate just how well Garnt writes his scripts, how they always hit the perfect balance of humor, analysis, and passion about anime. As a professional writer myself - although my field is creative writing, rather than critical - that's someting I strive to achieve.
Oh, and screw you Garnt, Horimiya anime - from Best of Anime 2021 - was awful.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Oh man.
Even though it was for a super minor character, hearing Gigguk's voice acting feel really...weird.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. That's an adorable shoutout as those two background guys.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Few days late, but here's Gigguk doing his seasonal thing:
Of the animes mentioned, I think I will only check out Frieren and Pluto (yes, he did mention it briefly at the very end), and even those two I won't check out during this season.
Oh yeah, I was surprised how he didn't even briefly mention THE final FINAL episode of Attack on Titan anime. That said, I have a feeling that he will do a recap/review/farewell video to the entire AOT by the end of this year.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Well that episode only aired after the video was already out.
gotta say, i did not expect the Summoning Salt segment at the end
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistGarnt finally published his video on the Attack on Titan finale:
also, he recently posted a video on his second channel where he judges his viewers' anime taste:
In which the gacha game Reverse: 1999 and it's British dub drags out the Brit in Garnt. Particularly the part when he finds out that the knight in the game is French.

Burning love!new manga recommendation from Gigguk:
Gigguk just released a video about the 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You:
And it's age-restricted. What kind of terrible horniness goes on in there?
It's been 3000 years…Well its about 100 girlfriends so Im assuming horny
New theme music also a boxAFAIK the anime itself is just regular anime levels of horny and is about actually romancing the girls rather than OMG NAIKED BOIN BOINS.
Might have to do with the gacha game sponsoring the video, which explicitly has adult content.
[No, it's not a new Gigguk vid, sorry mates]
So, I'm wondering: Best of Anime in 2023 should be dropping in a month or two (or several, who knows)...and what do you all think his entries will be?
I can say with confidence that Oshi no Ko and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End will make it in the top 5.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Ahhhh shieeeeeet, here we are!!!
Okay, two of my predictions were correct: Frieren will make it in the top 5 and that Zom 100 will make the list, but at the bottom of the list. Other than that, well, I totally missed the mark on everything else, including number 1.
And I gotta say, along with the no.1 entry of 2022, the video ends with a really poignant and powerful celebration of fiction as a whole. It's this kind of writing that keeps bringing me back to Gigguk.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Skip & Loafer is a bit complicated for me. I absolutely loved the first few episodes and the show does what it does well but in the end… it felt like just another slice-of-life anime? It didn’t really leave me with the need to see more and I felt like I just watched… people… do stuff. That’s my problem with pure slice-of-life, I guess.
I still haven’t read or watched Jujutsu Kaisen, but the more I see and hear about it, the more it seems like it has the strengths of Demon Slayer without the flaws. It looks quite mind blowing.
Maomao would have been my personal n°1 because damn this show and this character are amazing.
…Yeah, tons of great shows in 23, but I feel there’s a distinct lack of great original shows lately. The lists I see are nothing but adaptations.
If you watch Trash Taste, you could pretty much guess which anime were gonna appear on his list. The only real surprise for me was Skip and Loafer, which I didn't even know he watched but I'm glad he mentioned.
I'd say that if you like action shonen for creative abilities and epic fights, then JJK is one of the purest distillations of those aspects.
As for original shows, there's just been fewer of them in the past decade or so. Production committees are more comfortable banking on proven successes, it seems.
And since there's fewer original shows, it's harder for any given one to be a hit. I'd say for 2023, the ones I can classify as above good to great would be Birdie Wing and Overtake.
Rather late comment: 100 girlfriends is more of wacky comedy than romance overall on its side of romcom equation

God, number 3 reminded me that I still haven't finished watching JJK season 1. XP
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. The Chinese Manhua for Top Tier Providence referenced a JJK meme, which was pretty amusing to me.
Watch Symphogearbeen a while since it was posted, but he has uploaded his Winter 2024 Anime in a Nutshell:
Garnt ranks the best anime openings of 2023.
Burning love!Gigguk talks about Frieren.
Gigguk reviews one of the worst anime ever reviewed on My Anime List and how bad is it. The fact is was made by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam is hilarious.
