What were they thinking!
Actually, that sounds kinda funny. And I say that as someone who suffered through Sandy.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Well, since Scotland and the rest of the place I still have to call the United Kingdom got hit by Hurricane Sandy's tail end, causing much damage and casualties, I don't find it at all funny.
"What were they thinking!"
It started out as a Will Smith vanity project to star Willow Smith. And Jay Z's rap version of It's a Hard Knock Life.
That's about it.
Page not found.
I kind of didn't have high hopes when I found that Jay Z was writing extra songs. I'm... not really a fan of "new songs! By... someone who had nothing to do with the original show!" Like the Mary Poppins Broadway show.

This site's borked link thing strikes again. You have to remove the 20% thing from the word "of", as that seems to be what's making the error. The gist of the article is that Willow Smith dropped out of the film because she just wanted to be a kid.

...this is a ton of work. wtf. if you copy this and put it in the address bar in a tab, you should be able to edit the hyphen out and then go to the page

ophelia, you're breaking my heartSo, how many people posting here actually watched this? I don't understand what was so bad about, at least not compared to most kids movies. It didn't even bastardize what it was based on, like, say, Maleficent...then again I still found that movie tolerable (it had pretty fairy creatures)
I'm planning to. might need to wait until I actually have money, tho. or it comes out on redbox.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartThere were perfectly functional versions of this film and musical years before this version came out. I have no plans to watch it. Though it has to be said that I have no axe to grind against its stars, and I wish them well.
tell Hollywood that. -counts the endless reboots-
ophelia, you're breaking my heartTo say this version makes the changes the narrative needed to transcend being "perfectly functional" would be the lowest praise I could give it. I highly recommend you give it a shot before you decide the other versions have contented you enough.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Life is too short to spend time on films I know I won't like. Or games, books and telly shows that will have the same problem.
...so what are you doing here in this thread, if you don't mind me asking? i mean, if you know you won't enjoy the movie, what makes you think you'd enjoy this thread anymore?
ophelia, you're breaking my heartYou can enjoy the conversation without enjoying the movie itself. It has happened to me a few times. On this particular subject, I'm completely ambivalent. I'll probably watch the movie when it's out on TV and I don't have anything better to watch, but I don't feel like spending money on anything Annie, really.

Another article on the same topic.
http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/jul/11/willow-smith-quit-annie-film-intuition
Yeah, what Napoleon said. Sometimes the threads for a film or a show or a game I don't like are more entertaining and informative than some for stuff I actually like. I would never have learned that Willow Smith thought doing this film was a bad idea without this thread and folks on it pointing me in the direction for the relevant articles.
Guys, URL shorteners are a thing.
Anyway, I've been planning on seeing this, just haven't had the time to go to the movies yet, and when I do have the time, I don't really feel like it.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
Ouch...
