I'd still suggest he should give Equestria Girls a try. It's pretty good, HTSWTG is a really good song, and Sunset Shimmer's character is pretty interesting after watching the sequel. Plus, if don't like the first, it's still worth it to get the setup for Rainbow Rocks.
Sure it's mostly humans, but for me at least, I watch the show for the personalities, not just because of ponies. SO in other words, I legit watch it for the plot.
Bleh, and now Seraphem's going to make a rant about this whenever EQG comes up. Give it a rest already.

But don't you know that high school is the worst thing ever, and that humanizing the ponies ruins everything, even though nobody whined when the fans themselves did it? Cause Double Standards are the new cool thing.
Specifically, the insert meme here cooler thing.
High school technically may be the worst thing ever though.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.You can tell Equestria Girls is a fantasy because that high school wasn't soul-crushingly terrible.
The worst thing that Blueblood did was hurt Rarity's dress and be a dick about it.
While I know it's not canon, in the comics he also was part of an exposition attendance that humbled Fluttershy about her cherished knitting work.
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate that issue and basically only keep it for the artwork? Because not only implies Celestia stages every freaking year a contest where almost everyone was humbled and put down, but even Rarity was going along with it until she saw Fluttershy. Basically, Fluttershy lucks out by having the right connections showing at the right moment, but otherwise, the whole thing was like a periodical exercise of inviting ponies to show their talent only to insult and taunt it.
I probably wouldn't hate Blueblood as much as I currently do if it hadn't been for a certain fanfic I read. Now I just see him as being a total bastard who deserves any possible terrible thing that could happen to him. Like, if Chrysalis decided to munch on his brain for supper, I'd be perfectly okay with that.

Well, since you seem so desperate for it....
Because it wasn't simply turning them into some hideous humanoid abominations. But then completely stripping every aspect of magic and fantasy from the world, and just making it a boring, mundane, nothing the least bit special about it place. Demoting Nigh-immortal demi-goddesses who rule over an entire country and control the very heavens themselves... into mundane, powerless high school administrators.
And even beyond that, it wasn't the same characters, just shallow, second rate copies of them that banked more on the audience simply transferring there feelings for the real characters over to these copies that have no reason to be so similar given how vastly different everything about their world is. Rather then actually bothering making unique characters.
And even then, even with the very premise so antithetical to everything I love about the setting and world the show is in.. even then... Rainbow Rocks proved you could still make a damn good story from it. What killed EQG was the utterly vapid, nonsensical, swiss cheese plot and every character except Spike getting an Idiot Ball super-glued to them.
1. Nothing shows or hints this was done to do that, just that it was a big event, that drew a famous 'critic' whose only a 'critic' by virtue of being a cynical jackass who bitches about everyone and treats everyone like shit, while trying to pass it off as him being so sophisticate and so for above them all. With the pony shaped sheep that are the Canterlot Elite simply going along with it. If Tia is directly involved, it's likely just to wait for the right moment to pop their inflated egos.
2. It was clear rarity was already getting fed up with his BS and saw it for what it was, but simply didn't want to make a scene because she was trying to fit in with the high society crowd.
Chryssi eating part of his brain could only improve him.

OK Sera,we got it.You don't like EG.No need to constantly complain about it.
@Ruise Middle school was worse than how far High School has been.
@Napoleon Yeah that issue is just plain stupid.Esp. the moral of it.
Any way,going to sleep.Night.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013@Rin: That's cute.
Reaction Image RepositoryHey, Dark seemed so desperate for it, couldn't disappoint him.
History has proven that this line of discussion(And the line of discussion it is discussing) goes nowhere. Let's all just move on to a happier place.
A place of ponies, and sweets, and games, where High School is ne'er mentioned. Yes: College.
Truly, a land of Milk and Honey and also cheap-ass Pizza down the street from your apartment. Or in my case, Cheap-ass Fisn'n'Chips down the street from my apartment.

Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Whether college is worth the time and money is extremely variable based on the field of study. For me, college was mostly fun, mainly because I got to actually choose the classes I wanted (i.e. only the one entry-level required math class and never touching it again), though on the flipside I also learned that I really don't like living in a dorm. You can only wake up at 3 in the morning because some idiot set off the fire alarm with burnt popcorn so many times.
Reaction Image RepositoryMissed that one, closest I got was Power School and Prototype.
Napoleon: To be fair, the whole connections thing is pretty true to real life.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI enjoyed college, but I technically went to a specialized trade school kind of thing, so it might not be the standard experience. But the mere experience of being out on my own, living with a group of guys I liked, was fun for me.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Power School and Prototype kind of sucked. Was some good points, but it was Military schools, so that part sucked.
Basically everything doing with the actual Nuc aspect was great. The military crap sucked.
College was amazing. Much better than Real Life, but at least that's still better than high school. I loved living on campus, I could eat as much as I wanted without having to cook and my friends were right there when I wanted company. Just the perfect balance of free time and meaningful tasks to accomplish. An actual social life. Greenhouses to hang out in. Animals to pet. Events to go to. And...my parents paid for everything because I'm a privileged only child.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Went to university for four years, didn't graduate. Picked a major halfway through and funds got low, among other things. I learned a valuable lesson that if you're perusing an after-high school education, you need to be really sure what you want to do as a career. I went to college because I thought I had to go to college, not because I wanted to or I had big plans.
Hindsight can be a harsh mistress.
