Star Wars: Omerta (Discussion.)

This is the General Discussion thread for Star Wars: Omerta, where OOC discussion, questions, and other such chatter goes.

OOC and Discussion Guidelines-

We're here to have fun. This is an bit of an experiment for me-I don't tend to do R Ps this...focused, and narrow in scope. This is going to be very character centric, and very focused. It's not always going to run smoothly.

With that in mind, my primary rule is don't be a dick. I expect people to talk out problems. I also expect people to bring up problems they have, and don't be passive aggressive or snippy. I'll step in if I have to, but I expect you to be adults, and talk stuff out. If I do have to step in, I'll try to work out what will make the most people happy, and make this RP run smoothly. However, I'm not your babysitter. I reserve the right to kick anyone at any time, for any reason. I'd like to think that I'll try to be fair.

Please don't let that turn you off, though. I don't intent to abuse my power capriciously or without cause. If you have a problem with me, toss me a PM. I'm reasonable. I'll try to make things work out, and I'm always willing to go the extra mile for my players. If you’ve got questions, concerns, problems, or anything like that, bring them up. Don’t let things build up, because little problems early on tend to turn into big ones.

IC and Main Post Rules-

We are doing this freeform and post-by-post. That means you control your character, and that’s all. Most of you are veterans at this, so you know how it goes. As a reminder, if you’re doing something that affects another character, the proper form is “I attempt” or “I try.” That allows me to decide the effect.

In the event of IC player conflict, I’ll let you guys work it out, but if it turns into a god-mod fest, or you have problems, I reserve the right to take up arbitration of that. If it turns into an OOC fight, see above. IC conflict is accepted. OOC is to be dealt with as quickly as possible.

I think that’s just about everything for this. If there are questions or confusion, ask. I reserve the right to play god, as always. However, my primary goal is your enjoyment.

The Ship: The Erewhon Noir (Unless there are strong objections.)

The Erewhon Noir is a CZ-T3 series ship, a light transport with a reputation for extreme reliability. With the rise, and fragmentation of the Sith empire, lawlessness abound, and fast, sturdy, armed transports are the primary method of transport (of both legal, and less so) valuables throughout the Galaxy. The CZ-T3 was a limited production experiment by Czerka, attempting to edge in on the YT series monopoly of the light-transport market. To that end, they created an easily customizable, fast transport. However, it was deemed a failure, as the first Sith invasion shifted production to warships. Thus, the CZ- T3 lay the hangars of collectors, used primarily as an inter-planet transport or secondary transport, until the Second Sith Civil war created a new need for such ships.

Erewhon Noir: The history of the Erewhon Noir is relatively unknown. When Tiberius found it, it was nearly scrap, the weapons turrets having been removed, and the inside cleared out, waiting in a mass-market’s junkyard. However, the price was right, and the Noir proved to be an sturdy and able ship. Although unarmed, it has a Class 1.7 hyperdrive, and excellent sublight speed for a ship of it’s size, along with a substantial cargo capacity. Should the need arise, it also has two turret mounts, though the crew has yet to amass the funds to actually buy weapons. They’ve installed reasonably convincing fakes, however, so they can bluff. It ended up being jointly owned by the crew, and has served them well in it’s year of use.

Statistics:

Hyperdrive rating: Class 1.7

Navigation system: Nav Computer Equipped

Armament: Two mounts for turrets on the ships lateral axis

Crew: 1 pilot

Passengers: Living quarters for six, cargo bay can carry more.

Cargo capacity: ~100 tons

Nah but let's see, one sentence. If the Erewhon Noir (which I need to learn how to pronounce) was found in a junkyard, someone had to climb all around that thing and weld the panels.

I'm thinking, CH3-RN0 was found in the junkyard too. Free droid to go with the ship.

Myrissa was introduced to Tiberius by a mutual acquaintance.

So, I kinda just remembered wookies can only speak shyrwook or however its spelled. And now I'm wondering if Cherno even understands that? I suppose for the sake of character interaction they might have programmed it into him or something.

Also, nman you should have waited for Math to make the first post cause his character is the captain. =P

And I'll probably respond tomorrow cause its 3 in the morning and I will be heading to bed shortly.

They're in different areas, though. Anyways, wookiees can't speak basic, which is because it's a giant handwave for why Chewy was always "rargh"ing but the wiki seems to indicate they could learn pretty much any other language that isn't like basic just fine, so I'd imagine that given everyone's occupation and background, it wouldn't be unlikely for them to know huttese as well, and talk using that. Also the thing I just learned about Shyriiwook reading that article on languages - "It could be understood by those who spoke Basic, however it was nearly impossible for non-Wookiees to pronounce" - suddenly makes the movies make a lot more sense. And it also means talking in Shyriiwook and hearing in Basic should work just fine.

I was pretty sure they can only speak Wookie and other similar languages because their vocal cords can't handle anything else. *will double check the wiki just to be sure*

Anyways, I was just thinking CH3-RN0 probably hasn't been too open about his origins for one reason or another. So, I'm going to operate under the assumption that most of the crew thinks he was custom made cargo hauler that had been modified for combat at one point but has now been returned to his original purpose of hauling cargo.

Figured that would make more sense then everyone being fine with Sith Wardroid in their midst.

....I will be sorely disappointed if at least one of you doesn't take this opportunity to lend some snark.

Once again, I have to apologize for not posting. I ended up making a multi-day trip, and then had work to catch up on. I'll try to get this thing moving again, and show some more plot.

For those of you who don't get it and are not in the Edge Town IRC chan: Our dear Captain is referring to the fact that 8 out of 10 males (Or so oriented females and alternative alien genders) would be unlikely to know Mys Eyecolor.
