Well the Mighty No. 9 staff had one last preparation to do before release, visiting a local shrine to place some Ema (wooden plaques) to wish for Mighty No. 9 to become a big hit!

We actually visited the same Nanba Shrine that everyone visited when comcept was created, and the name itself even bears a resemblance to the game!

The team all assembled at the shrine on the morning of May 27th.

Praying for success is a very smart idea.

Oh yeah, considering the reviews i've seen. not for the demo but for either the leak or the final build(they said their version had online) most of the reviews ive seen from those who had the 'final' build are either 7 or 6.5. a good game, but nothing special/ and this goes back to a lot of reviews for the demo last year: a good game that doesnt reach mega man's previous greatness, or something like that. (also really scathing remarks towards the cutscenes)

This is a bland type of game I'd probably play(depends on how the 3ds version is) but you know how the general gaming public is these days if someting is 'ok'

One more marketing stunt like masterclass though and its all over. And by that i mean they show those cutscenes again..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxxv3jMAay8 Also ign uploaded this today. this seems to be the final build of the first level.

One thing that really got me when watching the beta cutscenes is how the bulk of the dialogue is given to Sanda and White. Which winds up making Beck and Call almost non entities, since they barely say anything or voice their own thoughts. Call's lines are completely stock and expositional, and Beck has generic "Stop fighting!" lines when confronting the other Mighty ones. Doesn't help that Sanda comes off as flat out obnoxious in the Dynatron stage when he's constantly whining about how the lights are going off and it scares him... When he's not even physically there.

You compare it to say, the X games, where even when taking commands from higher up, X and Zero always feel like they have a say and show off more of their characters through their own input and actions.

Well, Call is supposed to be an emotionless automaton for what its worth.

[up]I question why you'd even make a character like Call, who went through a design vote contest and has her own mission, an emotionless automaton in the first place.

The point was that she has to learn emotions. Given that she's not a Mighty Number, she didn't start off as advanced as the others.

I question why they went through the contest in the first place. call F had more stuff on her than any others including a full plastic figure, before she was finalized.

They probably should'nt have shown that figure. its obvious they were pushing her more than any of the other designs.

It was like 'look at all these designs but hey! here's the roll looking one with a figure and a character sheet that had as much effort put into it as call E!'

I watched IGN play the first level. Meh, it looks alright. It seems like a serviceable Mega Man game but it probably won't win over people that aren't already fans of the franchise.

There are some cheaply-placed enemies in certain stages. Why must they camp the ledges so tightly

I still have bad memories of one of the early builds of that MM21XX fangame where the level designer put a Batonton in a really crappy place in both the Intro and in Gemini Man's stages, so you had to experience practical hell trying to wallclimb without being knocked down.

You know, with the shit Capcom has apparently pulled with regards to Street Fighter V, I can no longer see a good guy in the Capcom vs Inafune conflict anymore.

I say we need a third party to take them both out.

Well ok, fine, I'm just saying, it's like the old Team Iron man vs Team Captain America posters.

This conflict need a Hulk waiting to massacre both sides and make them pay. Because violence solves everything.

Why does there need to be a good guy? One is an enormous company with different branches that each handle different things and the other is one guy who had an extremely unhealthy amount of Creator Worship and couldn't handle the fans' unfairly high expectations.

In my opinion, I think that 99% of the stuff both sides get crap over is overblown and everyone just needs to chill out.

This song needs more love.

I don't think Nintendo (which I guess you mean by Hulk) stepping in will help much. Nor do I think they have that much power over the franchise.

Despite people saying that Inafune was more of a businessman than a creator I don't think he's a very good businessman.

He made the bungles that you'd expect of someone running a company for the first time without anyone to reign them in. Especially after being reigned in so much by Capcom.

Hopefully he'll learn from this.

I think that a mixed success would be the best for him, ironically.

I think mediocrity is the worst thing that could happen to it. A lot of people remember good/great games and bad games, but just okay games are rarely noticed.

Agreeing on the "mediocre/OK games=the worst kinds of games". Look at games like Ride to Hell, Superman 64. and Sonic 06. To this day, people are still talking about how legendarily bad those games fucked up. Then you look at something like Evolve, Aliens Colonial Marines, or Watch_Dogs and while some thing they're bad, they're bad in a very forgettable way and most of the spite seems to be more from the fact that they weren't as good as they seemed like they could be. The latter seems like what's going to happen with Mighty. Some people will hate it and maybe even despise it, but odds are, people will likely remember the controversy surrounding the game before it came out and not the game itself. And even those who hate it will likely forget about it after a while unless someone brings it up.
