Why are you comparing an anime made for a children's card game where for the most part they stand around and play a game that has difficulty being entertaining unless you know the rules(admittedly that's why they explain everything whenever they use something, but still) and an anime involving a large number of episodes involving exposition/small talk/something not what the watchers came for where the main appeal is watching absolutely ridiculously uber-powerful scarcely populated super-aliens beat the crap out of each other?
Yugi's hair totally wins though.
MMORPGs are serious business.I don't understand the comparison here. Or even the “vs” idea. They were both completely different. Dragon Ball Z is for adults for one. I am biased though… Dragon Ball Z is one of my favorite animes.
One, I feel that it's kinda unfair to compare 2 anime of vastly different genres. Two, Yu-Gi-Oh hasn't changed that much over the years. And three, take an good look at the stuff like the Ginyu Force compare it to the number of times where the villains in Yu-Gi-Oh were compentent and entertaining.
Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to break
So me and my friend are revisiting the original Yu-GI-Oh anime (well, Duel Monsters, not Season Zero) and this little comparison occurred to me.
For me and many others, there's a lot of nostalgia as we grew up with both shows. Another similarity is how heavily Americanized both shows were. Of course they were anime still but they were heavily altered in the dub. Speaking of dub alterations, both YGO and DBZ got nifty new soundtracks for the dub versions. ((hell, DBZ got two, one with Funi and one with Ocean)
So while fans of the original manga or other language versions of the anime are more than welcome to vote here, I am probably looking for responses from people in a similar situation to myself ie. you grew up with both the dub versions of Yu Gi Oh Duel Monsters and Dragon Ball Z.
1. Which one would you say was better and why?
2. Which had the better English dub?
3. Which had the better English score?
I'm gonna leave my own opinions for later, after others have given theirs. But I still want to post some of the great underrated music from 4Kids' YGO: Egyptian God Monsters, Duel of the Gods, Rage of Ra, Toon World Theme, Marik's Theme, Thief King Bakura's Theme, Zogfried's Theme And then there's probably more.
