Fair point, but once you reach that conclusion you need to realize the difference between the Lifemaker and Albireo.
Lifemaker always struck me as something of a magic scientist. Making Eva a vampire, making Secundum psychotic, granting Fate free will, practically inviting Negi and Asuna to find him as he ran off.....it seems (to me, at least) that a big part of his MO is to literally just do shit and wait to see what happens.
As for this chapter, throwing the Lifemaker into Kitty's flashback makes her lack of knowledge of him in Negima needlessly awkward, and can only really be explained by either the trauma kicking it out of her memory or her memory just gradually fading over time (reminder: it's said very early on that immortals tend to lose their perceptions of time as they get older). Also, the Touta/Kitty ship is back in full swing, which is made more awkward by Touta being pretty sure that Kitty is Yukihime before the flashback.
That all said, the flashback was still pretty good, Touta and Kitty do have good dynamics and chemistry (even if I don't like the ship), and the bit of things drifting in and out of the Rift seems like an interesting focus for now. It's that paradox again, where I'm not a fan of the direction but can still enjoy the chapter as an individual piece.
Finally, regarding the last chapter, I remember what Dana's clones remind me of.◊
I think Lifemaker would have been so much more interesting if his character and Dynamis was combined.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I kinda liked Dynamis as his own thing, with him explicitly being the de facto leader of CE despite Fate being stronger then him. I kinda wish he became semi-relevant earlier then he did and had his role expanded on a bit. He was a helluva lot more interesting then Fate, but that isn't hard at all.
So, spoilers are up.
Dana, WTF?! Kill it with fire!
So, those ANB spoiler images.
Does anyone else remember that fat guy in Dragon Ball Z, you know, Frieza's soldier that Vegeta beheads? What's he doing in this manga now?
So, what the fuck. Touta can just erase Dana from fucking existence? Sure she probably regens, but what the shit. Not even Asuna did anything that goddamn crazy. I mean, she probably could, but we're talking about a scenario where she's in her prime, which she never quite got to in Negima.
Clearly, Touta's antimagic is much better than hers.
And having written this I feel the need to punch something.
Tension? What's that?
NDC: Dodoria?
I'm not going to lie, for as stupid as that was its was pretty fucking awesome.
Also I don't think he erased her from existence just punched her out of her pocket dimension; which was, as I said, pretty sick awesome.
My interpretation of it is that he turned Dana's magic back on her. Not exactly reflected, but rather drew it around the circle thing he does (ignoring how stupid it is or you may think it is) and sent it back.
Actually, he's referring to Guldo, Archvist. Weak power level but has the ability to stop time as long as he's able to hold his breath.
Awesome as it is that Touta got a good punch at Dana, I wasn't careful with what I wanted. Because when I was arguing that anti-magic would be the lesser of two evils, I was specifically thinking of early-game Asuna, where she could just punch and slice through magic barriers with no problem. Y'know, what a generic protagonist with this skillset would normally get. Unfortunately, Touta seems to have jumped to late-game Asuna, where she was able to actively project magic null fields around her, which is a bit too much right now. And he's supposed to be on par with Kuro and the others now? What in God's name did they do, assuming Dana isn't purposefully talking out her ass?
Touta and Kitty's relationship is still really good right now. Like, it's perfect without the romantic aspect. Unfortunately (again), the story's made the worst possible implication: that it's because of Eva's relationship with Touta that she falls in love wiht Nagi. Granted, it seems to tease ANB's theory about completely different timelines being at work, but the mere fact that I'm wondering that proves him right about Akamatsu's air of mystery having Gone Horribly Right, to the point where I as a Negima fan can't fully trust what I think I know.
Topping all that off is this chapter ending on a page that doesn't feel like an ending. So overall, while not as bad as 2 chapters back, it's still only average at its best.
Decent chapter, though I agree the ending was awkward as hell.
And I doubt he Touta x Eva ship is sunk yet.
Eh, he'll most likely keep it around to some capacity just to cocktease until the end, where nothing of that comes to actually matter once again.
I still can't get over how cool that showing of magic was. The only thing before that was as cool to me was when Kaito sealed Touta with the cross.
Dana or Touta? Touta phasing Dana out reminded me of when Asuna wiped out Haruna's golem, and...that was about it.
Touta can't do it at will as yet, so you don't have to worry, I think. As for the training, Dana probably means that Touta is at the level where she can actually start training him in earnest now, that's all.
Taking into account how fast he learns new crap, there isn't much tension on how long will it take him to master it, and as for 'training him in earnest', he's already at ridiculous levels of regen and plot gimmes, without even taking into account how immortal he is and how many haxx allies he has at his side in any given fight. Seriously, when he loses it feels more like contrivances to cover the previous powerup contrivances, so the last thing the lad means right now is 'more training'. Before that, he should just start doing good use of everything he already has.

That's pretty much what's been said the moment he got his ME give me, so I don't see that happening any time soon.
Should be safe to drop spoilers now.
That was basically my take. Yes, Touta currently can't control it, only using it in a very brief moment in what was most likely a subconscious effort. However, that control is most likely what any additional training would focus on. Assuming he doesn't just figure out a way to handle it, like he did with ME.
Did someone say "somebody should show up to teach Touta"? Because there's kind of a line for that.
Spoilers: More training.
Yaawwn...
You know, the most powerful being in existence could probably do better things with his power. Then again if I was an immortal godlike wizard I would spend disproportional time and effort trolling people so he might be on to something.
