(Beautiful music plays)[1]

(Narrator): There is an Infinity of worlds called Gaia, floating in the void. Each has faced ts Final Crisis, at some point. Each time, it has been averted by the deeds of Great Heroes. This is such an event. In a world that embodies them all, a war between gods threatens all. Will the story repeat itself? Or will chaos triumph this time?

Mysidia, The City of Magic:

Cyan stood in line to buy a ticket at the local airship port. As he waited, he thought of his home. It'd been so many years since he came to Mysidia to study Blue Magic. Now, he'd finally graduated, and was returning home to see his family. How he'd missed them! He didn't really like big cities. He couldn't wait to go back to frolic in the fields (and learn new powers from the monsters there, of course.) He'd heard rumors that monster activity had increased lately, but no one seemed to know why.

After much waiting, he finally got to the receptionist. He paid in gil coins, and got the ticket (which he felt was way too expensive, but whatever.) Then he got directions to his airship, The Alexis II.[2] He boarded it, and found a good place to seat in.

But just as the ship's engines began to hum, it was rocked by an explosion!!

-*Oh my gods!* Thought Cyan, *What happened, did the engines explode??*

But as he looked out of a window, he could see that the ship was being boarded- by a group of unknown soldiers! [3] who were they? What were they after? Whatever it was, they didn't seem to care about shooting innocent people to get it!

Gasping, he grabbed his magic staff, and hurried to the entrance, where several passengers were panicking.

He had prepared for battle for years, but had not expected to have to fight so soon- especially not against humans!

(players, insert your characters in the scene as you wish.)

Kyle simply sat back and watched near the door as someone ran in, and he locked eyes with this person for a few seconds before standing up just behind him. He did not doubt that these innocent people here would be out for his blood if they knew about his curse. Hence why he wore his gloves, and very concealing clothing. He was used to hiding and concealing himself from the normals.

As Cyan ran out to go fight the people attacking the plane, Kyle thought about what he should do. Well, he still had his scythe on hand, which was concealed inside a large container ostensibly containing a musical instrument.

Taking the container along with him, he ran out to go join Cyan. He did not know why he risked his life for people who would in any other circumstance spurn or cast him out, but he supposed he could not just let those pirates do as they wished. He opened up the container and took out his scythe, preparing to fight.

Falchias was at a meeting with a few of his subordinates talking about new defences for the cities main airship dock, he had heard all these same suggestions million of times but it all came down to money which they didn't have. He was almost dozing off when one of the pilots ran in. "HELP, THIEVES, PIRATES, BANDITS, SOMEONES OUT THERE, YOU'VE GOT TO HELP QUICK!" That was all he need to hear before standing up and indicating the guards to go deal with it. He picked up his helmet and Halberd and starting walking out, "Can you go and alert the Earl? The faster he knows the easier this thing becomes.

He had only been stationed at this dock for a few weeks, doing guard duty for an Earl he knew from just outside the city, who used his position to get him a job as a Captain for the city guard. He started running, securing his helmet. "Where are they?" He shouted to a nearby guard, standing in front of the reception with a short sword at the ready. "The Alexis II Captain!" He ran through and along until he could see the ship, smoke and fire and splinters raining down. He passed two guards laying down covered in blood.

He ran and jumped a few meters into the air, landing on top the airships frame. He could see a blue mage standing up to fight them, and another man getting up after watching them enter. He held his Halberd at the ready, preparing to jump down and strike, My halberd is too big too use in here. I'll see if these two are in any danger yet

Steiner frowned as he aught often did. The explosions and screams that began to fill the air had jostled him from his quite reflection. He had finally discovered a new lead on the trail of his lost princess, the third year of her disappearance would begin in a two days time. As far as he was aware, he alone persisted, the last of the searchers. Forty-four strong they had began, dispersed in four person groups throughout the land. The other groups had given up as the leads turned to rumors, rumors turned to whispers, whispers turned to nothing over the long months.

Steiner's group had lost two companions eight months back, killed by monsters most foul in yet another fruitless search for the princess, in some forsaken lands far to the north. His remaining companion Beatrix had been ordered back by the Queen herself only five days past. Some new threat loomed upon the horizon. She and he had searched countless inns, castles and den of thieves throughout the land together and while Steiner longed for her safe return even alone no petty band of bandit or pirate would deter him from his quest.

So with a mighty clank, he jumped up from his seat and began to run towards the loudest screams clanking all the way. He burst through a nearby door, spotting the mage and scythe wielder and drawing his own sword he moved in to assist/attack. *clank*

From the entrance, Cyan could see the enemies climbing onto the ship's open deck. There were at least a dozen soldiers, maybe more, armed with everything from swords to guns. What could they be after that they would feel such force was needed!?

No matter, only protecting the passengers did. Cyan began to cast a spell, Mighty Guard, a strong defensive one that he'd learn from one of his teachers as a reward for being his star pupil. He intended to protect both himself and the people closest to him with it. When they saw him, the soldiers rushed in his direction, ready to fire.

(Out of the corner of his eye, he saw some armed figures coming out of the ship as well. Hopefully, these ones were on his side! Similarly, he saw what looked like a Dragoon jumping onboard behind the soldiers. The Dragoons were a highly respected order of Knights, so hopefully he had come to help stop the intruders as well.)

Immediately as the soldiers tried to form positions in the area, Kyle rushed forward, using the wide scythe blade as a shield and then slashing incredibly quickly for such a weapon through the gun-wielding men in front of Cyan, with the same ease as a farmer reaping his wheat.

"Their armaments tell me these men are soldiers for one regime or another. I smell a war."

In a cabin below deck, a teenage girl was shuffling a deck of cards. Just before the attack, the girl had decided to actually leave her quarters for the first time since embarking on this voyage, and find someone to engage in a game of Triple Triad. She mused to herself, It would be interesting to learn if this region has a ruleset that I've never heard of, and if I can adjust my play style to suit it...

Just then, she heard the all-too familiar sound of gunfire above her. She glanced upward. Are we under attack? She heard heavy footsteps coming down the hall toward her cabin, and knew she had to act. Relying on her training, she quickly, but gently placed her cards on a nearby table and gathered Perfect Ward. Strapping it firmly to her right arm, she opened the door to her cabin just in time to find a lone Galbadian-looking soldier rushing toward her. Before he could even bark an order to not resist, she raised her shield, smacking him soundly in the face and knocking him out cold.

She crouched near him and examined him. Strange...this uniform looks Galbadian, but the markings are all different. And if they are Galbadian, they're awfully far from home...

She rose to her feet, and still hearing the sounds of combat topside, she made her way to the nearest stairway. Upon reaching the top, she saw what appeared to be a mage, two knights, and a dragoon in battle with the same kind of soldier she just put down. She narrowed her eyes and cast Protect on herself, then strode toward the others.

Falchias watched the battle unfolding beneath him, as more people joined the fray, he drew the short short from his back. He could only use the Halberd once for a jump strike. He whistled a strange noise, two guards appeared near the doorway, severing the stairway onto the ship, one protecting the entrance. One protecting the exit of the ship. Everyone was sealed in. Falchias just saw the guard take a beating on his shield as he landed on top the intruder. He just saw a new arrival appear, apparently on his side. Slashing and blocking with his polearm staff, he backed off to the wall, so he was no longer surrounded. "Encircle them, dont let them get momentum!"

Thanks to the scythe-wielding stranger, Cyan was able to finish his spell. Though he was exposed to the sight of people being mowed down, falling to the deck in a bloody mess. People who were trying to kill him moments before, true, but it was still shocking to him. To his credit he didn't lose his focus.

With a crackle, a yellow-green glow surrounded him and several other people (including the other PCs, if they're close enough) increasing their resistance to physical and magical attacks. And just in time, as a hail of bullets came their way: BRAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!!

All the bullets were deflected by the spell, thankfully.

But now, the surviving warriors pulled out their swords and rushed them, apparently hoping to take them out via superior numbers. The Dragoon behind them yelled something, and port guards began to show up to help -finally! He also started to attack the intruders from the rear.

Cyan began to prepare another spell, Aero, an offensive spell with a wide area of effect, hoping to blow back as many enemies as he could.

Kyle immediately threw the blade of his scythe over to the other side of a blade wielded by one of the enemies, quickly forcing it out of his hands before rushing forward and slashing right through with the front edge of his scythe.

He blocked another attack, and then slashed with his scythe in a spiralling fashion around him, the incredibly sharp blade virtually making a whirlwind of death and giving pause to the enemies who would think to rush in.

However, it looked like numbers were against them now. "Oi, Mage, you got a spell cooked up? We sure need it."

Feeling a gust of wind from someone spinning a scythe, he side stepped so several of the enemies were lined up in front of him. Spinning his halberd around so he was gripping it half way up the pole, he jumped and kicked off the wall, flying through the air toward the few in front of him. He crashed through them, killing the first with the spear tip, and knocking them all down. He went onto his knees a the second in line tried to stab him from the ground, parrying with the short sword, he smashed the two protruding blades of the halberd into his chest, then slashed with his sword to kill the third trying to stand. Retrieving his weapons. He jumped into the frame of the airship again, scanning the area. This is more than just a simple raid, they have motives other than money.

The knights and the young Mage seemed to be handling themselves rather well, in Lapin's opinion, so she concentrated on the rear of the deck, where she found several soldiers advancing on their position.

Being outnumbered, she considered summoning Shiva...and just as she was about to begin concentrating on calling the Empress of Ice, a few members of the ship's crew came to assist her. "It's alright, Miss! We'll handle them!"

Lapin cast a glance at the nearest fighter. "Thanks," she replied cooly. As they rushed toward the enemy soldiers, Lapin considered her options. There's no need to bother Shiva now... Instead, she focused on casting Ice on her foes. Her arms shimmered with ice crystals as she thrust her hands toward the enemy. Before they could react, they felt the icy cold as her spell exploded before them, knocking several of the enemy soldiers down.

A few more were cut down by the emboldened crew members.

Once again, thanks to the cover provided by the others, Cyan was able to cast his spell. He muttered some Latin-sounding words, gestured with both hands, and a white flash appeared between them. Suddenly, a powerful blast of wind -like a tornado's, only much shorter- blew from him towards his enemies. It knocked them all back with such force, some of them were knocked out.

But not all of them. Some started to get back on their feet quickly. In particular, one of them, wearing an uniform of a different color -brown, while the others wore blue, probably meaning he was a commander of some sort- cursing aloud, reached for an object in his vest that even Cyan could recognize: a hand-grenade! He prepared to throw it in Cyan's direction...

Steiner panted, he hadn't fought such as this for weeks. Out of the corner of the eye he saw the brown vested man fumbling about. He would have none of that and with a mighty clanking he charged the scoundrel. A few quick strokes of his sword and the man dropped the grenade, cursing his luck he jumped back. After a few tense seconds of nothing happening, he turned his attention to the fight elsewhere.

Thanks to the knight with the noisy armor, the enemy commander dropped his grenade before he could activate it. He considered trying to throw another, but then he took stock of the situation.

Over half his men had gone down, and none of his opponents had. Worse, airport guards were arriving now. Grimly, he had to accept that the odds were against his favor. His orders had been to seize the ship and escape with it as fast as they could; it was obvious now they could not achieve it. Cursing, he gave a retreat signal.

Seconds later, a bizarre, metallic ship,[1] much smaller than the Alexis, flew over the deck and began shooting bullets from its turrets to cover the invaders' retreat into its lower, open hatch.

Falchias gripped his halberd, ready to bat the grenade off the ship with the side of the blade, but the thrower was halted. He saw a smaller, metallic ship flying toward him, and took cover and he felt a vibration as a bullet skimmed his pauldron. He considered jumping and attaching himself to the ship by stabbing his halberd or sword in as a handle, but the metal looked too robust to pierce. He saw more of his men arrive.

"Alright, men! Gather the bodies, civilians and otherwise are to be separated. Search all the bodies of the attackers, and interview each passenger, get a detailed report of the event and check each of their backgrounds, kidnapping or murder may have been one of the goals of this group. Get the tower guard to watch the enemy airship as far as they can, ask for a ship to pursue. Get all wounded to the infirmary. You three!" He shouted, finally jumping back down. Indicating the man in clanky armour, the mage, and the person who had started walking away. "Do you mind if I ask a few questions? And also, thank you for the assistance. Everyone here could have been slaughtered before we knew without your help."

The flying pod escaped all attempts to catch it, and was soon lost in the distance.

(Insert victory fanfare! [1])

Once again, Cyan stared at the pile of corpses, sickened. He wasn't sorry that he had helped kill the intruders -not when they were trying to kill innocent people- but still, the sight of bloody dead bodies was not to his liking. At least the port crew was quickly and efficiently dealing with them.

Then he noticed the Dragoon, who was apparently some sort of local official, asking questions. He felt it was his duty to answer as best as he could.

"My name is Cyan Landswalker. I just graduated from the School of Blue Magic here at Mysidia. I was aboard to travel back to my hometown, Pastoria. Who these men are or why they attacked us, I have no idea."

Steiner jumped back up with a clank and dusted himself off, he gave his sword a brief scooping motion before carefully strapping it on his back. He gave a quick survey of the battlefield, he was glad to see the others that had defended the airship were still standing. Steiner noted the man of rank had started asking questions.

"I am Adelbert Steiner, and am a traveler from the Kingdom of Alexandria."

Steiner idly wondered if he should say more. No, the princess was near, he was certain of it and there was no need to alert any of Alexandria's enemies to that fact. Be they here or now amongst the dead.

Kyle got back up and walked over, though he slumped his shoulders and had a very gloomy demeanor, "...Name's Kyle Dalkhain, and I'm just a helpful traveler."

He felt rather out of place here. He was a Dark Knight, and an outcast. Couldn't even touch anyone. If they knew, their gratitude would surely turn to scorn.

"Well, I can't thank you enough for what you did. So, noone knows anything about their motives or who they are?" Falchias said as he bent down, searching the robes of the fallen enemy. He stood up, beckoning one of the couriers. "These people arrived on here the same as we did, that means they came from the city or were dropped off here, if anyone saw any airships in the city contact us, and search for the closest place to this port that many people could change robes. They would be arrested if they travelled the whole distance in those robes, they had to change as close as possible, so they would have left the clothing behind, search for it! It may hold clues!"

Cyan was about to go back inside to his seat when a bespectacled, bearded little old man in a red coat came out and said, "I think I may know what they were after."

"My name" he added, "is Cid Previa." [1] The name didn't tell them much; plenty of people are named Cid, it was a fairly common name. "And I do research on magic crystals. it isn't widely known, but this ship is powered by a rare crystal, more powerful than the average. Unless they had anything else out of the ordinary aboard, that must have been what they were after."

"I fear" he continued, "That they might intend to use it as a weapon of war. This should never be allowed! They might possibly try to attack the ship again... would you good folks be willing to continue to protect it? At least until it's in safer hands?"

"FIRE!" a voice suddenly screamed.

Everyone turned around, to see a man coming out running from inside the ship. He looked middle-aged, with wild brown hair and a beard and even wilder looking eyes. He wore a golden headpiece with a gemstone on it and a red robe. "FIRE! RAINING FROM THE SKY!!" he continued to scream frantically.

"Calm down, Sir!" Cyan said, rushing to his side. "Where's the fire- wait, what did you say?"

"DOOM! THE DOOM OF US ALL! THERE IS A WAR IN THE HEAVENS, AND IT WILL SWEEP US ALL AWAY!!"

Everyone looked at each other awkwardly at the man's ravings. Then they noticed that he was wearing the robes of an Oracle. [1] Now they stared nervously.

"Eh...? What happened?" the man suddenly said, obviously coming out of his trance.

"You came out screaming like a maniac" Cid snorted, obviously annoyed.

"I-I remember now! The vision! I had a vision! We are all in great danger!"

"Please Sir, calm down and explain to us what you mean" Cyan begged.

"Yes, you are right" the man agreed. "My name is Banon, [2] and I'm a member of the Oracle Guild. I rarely have visions, but this one... was very strong."

He elaborated: "I saw- the gods, fighting amongst themselves. And the fallout of their war falling to the Earth, destroying all life. However, how literal the vision is, I cannot yet say."

"Hmm... could the vision have any connection to the attack on the ship?" Cid mused.

"Possibly. It started just as the attack began. But how, I cannot tell."

"Well, just in case, I'd say we double the security aboard" the old scientist said. Then, turning to the PCs: "What do you folks say? Will you help?"

Steiner gave the shouting man a weary eye, wondering if all of the man's visions were so late in the coming. These oracles were unknown in Alexandria, elsewhere he heard they had been given an uneasy respect. Steiner turned towards Sid and spoke truly, "Until this airship reaches its next port, you have my blade."
