The Art of War - Historical AU (Interest Check)

During the unrest of the Warring states period, namely the sengoku period (15th-17th Century). The popularization and usage of hired mercenaries grew, increasing demand for these warriors who were given specialized jobs which required certain skills to be learned to complete. Espionage, intelligence, assassination, sabotage, infiltration, are all but a few of the new skills these warriors started learning. The demand for such warriors became so great, entire families would dedicate themselves to becoming the best on offer for such tasks, training children from a young age.

Also during this period, the country was under military control. Namely, by the samurai. They were the ruling class, nobility, and the protector of the peace and laws in these times. Their are stark differences between the two warriors. Samurai favoring open warfare, honor, respect. Against the shinobis lying, sneaking, cold blooded murder.

This is history. But it is not history we live in.

In our world. These two were controlled by different people. Two warriors who saw Japan as their property. So much so, they were prepared to kill the other brand of warriors. Two men, controlling an army. Seeking to make Japan their own. With no other reason, than pure ambition. One, control masses of Shinobi, and a portion of Samurai. The other, a samurai army with a portion of Shinobi. Both have equals amounts of insane ambition. And both are willing to do whatever it takes to unify Japan under their own banner.

The mainly samurai army are known as "The Amatsu Kurenai (The Crimson Imperials)" and can be reffered to as either or even "Samurai Army." These are led by General Ukinate Tamatsuki. The mainly shinobi army are known as "Okoze Yunisefu Kaiha (SIRAC - Sabotage, Infiltration, Reconnaissance, Assassination, Corruption, main areas of expertise - United Faction)" The man in control of this army is referred to as "Oujou" For "Death" For he is a very mysterious man, but it is known he is the best in the ranks of shinobi.

The ranking system for both armies are slightly different, The Crimson Imperials have higher ranking soldiers controlling several soldiers, who inturn control soldier until you get to the common foot soldier. The SIRAC have schools of discipline for certain activities, and have seated officers, 1st head of that house, the last being the newest or worst in that discipline. The list of ranks are (Highest first):

General - Head in command of the whole army

Leitenant General - Second in command, usually only 1 to 3 of these. Currently 2.

Major General - Controls all the colonel's and lower ranking officers, reports to both officers above.

Colonel - Controls a Regiment or Brigade. Amount of soldiers depends, but can range from 1'000 soldier upwards. Contains several battlions.

Major - Controls a battalion, ranging from 300 to 1'200 and can contain 2 to 7 companies.

Captain - Controls a Company, ranging from 80 to 250 soldiers. Formed of 3 to 6 platoons

Lieutenant - Controls a platoon, ranging from 26 to 64 soldiers. Formed of 2 to 4 squads.

Sergeant - Controls a squad, ranging from 8 to 14 soldiers. Formed of Attack teams.

Corporal - Controls Attack team, contains 4 or less soldiers.

Shinobi Schools of Discipline are:

Schooling

Explosives

Field Survival

Disguise

Weaponry

Infiltration

Martial Arts

These are organised with Seated warriors, their can be many people occupying the same seat rank, Except from 1st. Oujou, SIRAC's leader has a council of 7 (One of each discipline) who all make the decisions of what missions to accept from the public (The SIRAC faction can be considered a rebellion, but so large it can oppose the ruling Crimson Imperials. SIRAC's main income is doing missions for customers, and stealing from the Crimson Imperials.)And how to go about the war with the Crimson army. Each Shinobi is trained in every discipline by the Schooling house, they are assigned to whichever house they prefer.

Outside the seated ranks, lay general soldiers not of shinobi heritage, but wish to oppose the Crimson army anyway. They are given jobs depending on their skills. Bankers, blacksmiths, carpenters, general civilian jobs that can be of use to the SIRAC faction shall be appointed corresponding jobs, if they have none they are given jobs labouring and helping, or if very young, taken into the houses for Shinobi training.

The main areas of control are, Crimson Imperials in the North/east. SIRAC faction in the south/west. The "Border" of general control (Reference map above) around the middle are around:

North coast of Tanba, southern border of Echizen, north-east border of Mino, north-east border of Mikawa, north border of Suruga, then around the borders of Sagami and Musashi are where the border reaches the opposite coast.

This map will be referenced in future for campaigns, missions, and development.

This is just an interest check just now for the general setting. Basically, ninja against Samurai. With a few gunsmiths and and archers thrown in if you fancy something else. A more intricate plot line with love and feuds, hate and betrayal, friendship and murder, shall be created by you. You have freedom to interact with each other as you see fit. This is basically living life how you wish, or how you would wish if you were a Shinobi or samurai. You can kill everyone in sight, flirt with Geisha girls, or drink barrels of Sake. Your choice. But you are always fighting for something. Be it your leader, or yourself, or for a dead friend. Anything! Complete freedom.

I will be controlling a campaign plot, over several years with one side attacking major cities in the others control, sometimes one control more of Japan, surprise rebellions, warlike plot's along with any created. Their shall be a map of Feudal Japan, list of ranking officers and so on. The map will have indicators of what areas are controlled by whom.

The usual rules. Don't everyone be the strongest guy out their. No god modding, auto hitting, and all the rest. And just have fun with it!

Name: Self explanatory.

Age: Same again.

Affiliation: Neutral, Crimson Imperials, SIRAC Faction (This can change as the plot moves on).

Ranking: Seat/rank(Only too captain/7th seat), and discipline/division (Division is for the Samurai and can be whatever the players wishes within reason, Calvary, footpatrol, long range archery etc).

Job: If not a soldier or part of the war.

Physical description: Height, complexion, hair color, clothing etc.

Personality: Brief description, we can find out in depth about it throughout the RP, just make it consistent.

History: Brief description on old jobs, lovers, family, major events in life, distinctions.

Equipment: Anything carried by your character which is used frequently, sword, hammer, chisel etc.

Yes but I think since that was about 3 years ago and on a different website and was slightly different, I think I can get away with this.

The basic plot is a general war, but the more intricate things will be created by the players throughout, maybe a secret lover for the other army, or you are a double agent etc. Complete freedom with this. Well, more than usual anyway.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. I will be controlling a campaign plot, over several years with one side attacking major cities in the others control, sometimes one control more of Japan, surprise rebellions, warlike plot's along with any created. Their shall be a mad of Fuedal Japan, lists of major events, list of ranking officers and so on. The map will have indicators of what areas are controlled by whom. Basic trivia of each town, things we need to know for a RP of this type.

Im not sure their is a point with 2 interests and a possible interest.

...Definitely interested. Just put up a sign-up sheet, and I'll see what I can do.

Then why not It should only be a few minutes, going to have to put some thoughts into a slightly fantasy aspect about ninjitsu or some slightly boosting abilities, would that interest you? Nothing naruto like, but, samurai could have maybe a chakra attack that gives one almighty slash with shockwaves and so on, shinobi can have usual stuff, invisibility and so on (To an extent) What do you think?

...Hm. Why don't you take that idea of a 'shockwave attack', and expand it? Have you ever played Samurai Shodown? Or some other 2-D fighting game? (More Street Fighter and SNK than Arc System.) There were plenty of attacks that used ki, but were still 'small-scale' in comparison to something like, say, DBZ. Such as a 4ft-gusty projectile of firey wind, or a 3ft shockwave of blue&orange energy, or any other number of attacks. Even something such as just channeling visible energy to your sword was common in Sam Sho, or Last Blade. But, in the end, you're the GM, and it's up to you.

I think I shall wait for further interest then ask again, just did a lot of editing so I need rest before thinking of a ability system also . Everyone should re-read the description to see if they are still interested and what not.
