And here we are once more! It is, despite the bizarre name, another Fate/Stay Night based roleplay. However, this time I'm going beyond modifying the setting, or the number, or any of those other minor variables. Nope, time to screw with the Servants!

In this continuity, the Einzbern consulted a different group of people when they were creating the Holy Grail War. Nagato was still consulted to lend his land, Makiri still pitched in with creating the containers and restrictions and such—but the actual rules and methods? Oh, they were changed. There's still a lesser grail that needs to be filled to summon the Great Grail, and that has the same effect it's always had (only this time uncorrupted by Angra Mainyu), but the mechanics of it are different.

Instead of capturing defeated Heroic Spirits and using them as a battery, the Servants instead have far lesser power—they're basically reduced to their 'living' forms rather than as idealised nigh-divine entities—and the excess is gradually drained off, first to summon an exponentially increasing number of Servants (the exact number—and therefore the length of the war—is still determined by the Einzbern) and then to power the grail. When full, the summoning can happen and the war be completed. As this is restricted to certain locations around Fuyuki, defensively minded magi can be at an advantage.

Because Servants are weaker, the partnership is a lot more equal—they don't have the ability to kill a magus off hand, and though Noble Phantasms lose none of their potency, to freely utilise the overwhelming majority of them would cripple both Servant and Master. They are, truly, trump cards in this setting.

As the Grail has never been corrupted by Angra Mainyu—the conclusion of the war being close enough in all its incarnations that the Einzbern never became truly desperate enough to try and summon All the World's Evils—and the very setup of the war is different, naturally the restrictions are altered. Heroic Spirits summoned need not be 'heroes', and can in fact be evil, but must be human to be Servants. An unforeseen consequence of the creation process lead to the summoning of demigods and monsters as independent agents—though generally stronger than other individuals participating, they are hampered by a lack of support, an inability to benefit from command seals, and truly limited upkeep from the grail itself.

One final fact: command seals automatically regenerate, and in general are more use as a temporary power boost than as an absolute order.

Stuff important to the roleplay but not the background fluff:
  1. Because the magus is just as important to combat as the Servant, it's better not to create, say, Kariya.
  2. No signing up with Arturia or Gilgamesh. Arturia's power is completely disconnected to being a Heroic Spirit, and Gilgamesh is Lord of Brokenness. Similar deal with Medusa, given her eyes.
  3. This is the 4th Grail War, not the 5th. About the only change in the aliveness of the various canon Masters is that Zouken hasn't lived to be over two hundred and creepy as hell.

MASTERS:

  • Name:
  • Age:
  • Appearance:
  • Abilities:
  • Personality:
  • Backstory:

SERVANTS:

  • Name:
  • Appearance:
  • Personal Skills: Due to being a classless system, these are the only actual stats of importance. Do remember that they any huge power boosts from here are nerfed—these are skills.
  • Noble Phantasm(s):
  • Personality/Backstory: Put any variance from the myth here.

If you're unsure of what I'll accept, look here. Things should be easier with the lowered power level.

Curious, I guess. Also, you wouldn't mind if I reused a character?

I'll try to invent something too. My Servant concept is far from broken and under such circumstances he is more viable. wink
